  2. The part you are conveniently leaving out is if they don’t know civil rights or the penal code, I call a press conference to give my resignation speech. There is no option of “hey, they’re doing the best they can.” It is, and always should be, “I am the head of this team, EVERYTHING that happens under my watch is my responsibility.”

  3. It was important to the student body and helped create extra school spirit. I think I was short-sighted as well and lazy to get rid of it.

  4. Hoping we can get the 3 W's. During the halftime segment OU v TX game last Saturday. Dan Orlovsky with ESPN was talking about Army and was feeding into how the game between Army and Notre Dame will be exciting while they were showing Army highlights. Also showed Army's schedule and no second thoughts to any of the teams between now and then would make a dent in their undefeated mission. I really hope we can spoil that.. A ranked opponent and a win at home would be a bucket list item for UNT football.

  5. I HATE these early games. No time to tailgate.

  6. I say two out of three would also make me happy, and I always like our chances at home. But I want us to beat Memphis so we have the fired up homecoming crowd against Tulane. And I want to beat Tulane. And after winning those two games, I want us to beat a ranked Army in front of 30,000 people. So I guess we need to win all three.

  7. I think the only thing more emotionally abusive than being a MG fan would be someone that BETS on MG football. After about 3 weeks, the guys with the jackets that have adjustable belts would be coming for a visit.

  8. I was not a fan of Seth but right now OU has their top five receivers out and most of their offensive line has been banged up. So if we want to make reasons why we struggle we can't overlook when another team loses this much depth.

  9. Texas is on another level. I wish SL the best. He elevated the program from a bottom dweller to a .500. Glad he was here, but I’m also glad we moved on. Props to him for answering questions after an embarrassing loss.

  10. 11 am is about the time the Homecoming Parade was starting to roll. I miss the HC parade. The notion that it no longer was important to the students seemed short sighted to me. Alums and townsfolk stood for hours to watch.

  11. And considering they have referred to us multiple times as North Texas University, I'd say they move from typo to "I don't care". My suggestion, would be to find a bar that does care.

  12. Morris needs to burn a timeout before our second defensive series.... so Caponi can go ahead and make the halftime adjustments early. Strategy.

  13. I’d say that’s obvious, but when you combine it with a picture of a player from last year and the “&” instead of the “$” before the 16 on the Hockatown Old Fashioned, I’d say they might want to have someone look it over before making it public. Not a good look at all. And if I wanted to get really nit-picky, I’d mention that the game time isn’t listed. Sure people can find that info other places, but they shouldn’t have to if you want them to come to your place.

  14. this topic bums me out a little, because in my heart, i'm taking Fine all day... purely based on his moxie. but do i think Morris is a better QB? probably. All that being said... Mason Fine played his last college football game in Denton more than a full year younger than Morris is today. Fine's career will probably not be seen again for a long time... started as a true freshman ( remember him being thrown to the wolves, or Gators, in 2016?) played four seasons for one team and graduated Mean Green. he didn't get a redshirt year to learn or and missed the COVID year...

  15. That’s really not an unreasonable spread. We managed to find a way to win last night, but there are still some facts that can’t be denied - Memphis is better than any team we’ve faced (excluding TTU) - We still can’t run the football early in games - We made a VERY average quarterback look like a world beater. He had two, yes TWO, touchdown passes coming into yesterday. He threw three against our secondary that was often not in the same zip code as receivers - We are on the road - We don’t do a little thing called tackling

  18. I always give the Mean Green the benefit of the doubt and hope they win every game. We must stay humble and realistic. The defense has improved this year a tick. The next three game is and will be the measuring stick for the year. I will be happy if we win 1 out of the next three. I hope for 2 out of 3, 3 out of 3 would be amazing. We will need our fans and the Denton community to show up and be loud at games. We have a great loud stadium when we can be. GMG

  19. I noticed two of our suspended back on Saturday. X'Avion Brice #23 recovered the fumbled punt, so he is at least seeing action on special teams. Also noticed #30 B.J. Allen playing safety in the second half. He was very highly thought of coming out of high school. It would not surprise me to see him start taking reps away from our other two safeties. When we had a boundary safety, #21 Jaylen Hill was a good fit. He can actually tackle. When we could match him in man coverage vs a TE in the Tulsa and Wyoming games, he was okay. Florida Atlantic went after him in coverage often on Saturday and it showed. They were able to match him on slot receivers and he had trouble. From what I see, he is a little undisciplined in coverage at times. I think playing Allen more and #49 McFarland may have been part of our halftime adjustments. We played a lot of zone in the first half. In the second half it was a lot more man. I would bet Allen sees the field more these coming weeks. McFarland may have been in because #2 Evan Jackson seems to have a lingering injury. Just food for thought.

  20. In all reality, it’s on both coaches and players. Coaches can run bad schemes, fail to recruit the right players, or fail to develop players… that’s on the coaches. BUT players can also be in good position to make a play, be taught well, and fail to execute. It’s on both.

  21. Memphis is the most winnable game. If we win, vs Tulane may be the G5 game of the week. Then Army will likely come to Denton undefeated! These next three weeks are huge as to the state of our program. It’s fun, though. Beat Memphis! GMG!

  23. Spare me with this. "NT will always be NT" is a loser mindset. If you want to have that mindset I can't stop you. Baylor ascended from the literal pits of an abyss MULTIPLE times! TCU ascended. SMU is ascending and overcame the death penalty. If you want to whine about "signature wins" not being wins then do that when we lose to Memphis Army or Tulane. That's the first time we've beat FAU in Boca since 2012 and our prior head coach loses that game 100/100 times. This is our first 5-1 start since 2018. If you think NT cannot ever wake up from its "sleeping giant" phase then that's fine, but it *is* a loser mindset and one I'm not going to respect. I will forever want the best for my school and athletic program.

  24. Similar to our transfers, i don't know why people on this board feel the need to "update" on Seth... the man did a good job at UNT and levelled our program. I think if you feel upset about his tenure it's most likely because his salary outweighed his performance. Did i think he was a good coach? yes. Do i think he was good enough for close to $2MM a year? no. Also, looking back at his tenure, i don't think there was ever one thing thing that he just didnt do well (besides the generic 'he didnt perform in big games') and i definitely don't think his offense was the problem around here.

  28. Eastside lost their way years ago....prices are dumb, great atmosphere, thatś what you pay for. so many other great small bars in Denton to show your support...fry street...they always have the games on. I watched the game at the garage last night...put it on the TV I wanted on their patio...4 beers, 2 mixed drinks...17 bucks...but iḿ a cheap douchebag

  29. I thought of Darden and his remarkable run at the front end of 2020 (senior year). I mean, the entire year was amazing for JD, but he had 11 TDs in the first 6 games. NINE in the first four games of 2020. Now that I look at the figures again, I remember that he finished strong, too. I don't think we celebrate 2020 Darden enough. Senior Darden: Junior Sheffield:

  40. I love East Side because of their support of UNT, but… 1. Can’t they come up with a promo without Aune? 2. Why does one beer cost what roughly half a six pack cost, and when did other drinks go through the roof price wise? $16 for an old fashion with a middle of the road bourbon?

  45. Morris seemed to struggle with passing until the rain stopped. Just an observation. Fancher was likely more experienced on the grass and also in the rain. I mean it is south Florida. It surely rains a lot down there. Still can't believe NT won this game the way our defense played.
