If only there were someone who was paid thousands and thousands of dollars to teach proper tackling technique. But what would you call such a person??

Are a LARGE reason why this staff is winning and succeeding Was the defense bad tonight? Yep! Did the offense stall out on key drives and shoot itself in the foot more than once? You bet! Defense allows 27 and gets shredded in the first half, only allows 10 in the second half and the touchdown came as the result of a pick in our own territory. For all the criticism this defense has gotten, and much of it is valid, Morris (and to an extension Caponi) both deserve their flowers for how they've been able to make in game adjustments and correct things at halftime to keep us in games. Specifically in the 3rd quarter, we have the #1 scoring offense in all of FBS. And our defense ranks 35th in 3rd quarter points allowed. That is NOT insignificant. It is so easy to be frustrated with our defense's shortcomings. I am not arguing that. But we have to give credit where it is due.

Glad we won, but we have better figure out how to tackle because Army will rush for 1000 yards if we don't. We better make them beat us with the passing game.

Now that I know the outcome, I can rewatch the last few minutes….. breathing this time.

In the second half our defense gave up one touchdown after an interception put FAU on our 10 yard line and one field goal after an 18-yard drive. No other points. Part of the story of this incredible comeback win is that the defense rose up in the second half from astonishingly bad to almost average. And that was enough, thanks to the Mean Green playing 60 minutes of football when FAU called it quits after 58.

If only we could have an AVERAGE defense...we'd be at the top of the American without fearing our next three games.

Probably thankful I stayed off the game thread tonight, but here are my takeaways: Yes, it's an ugly win, a win that may not have felt like a win, and there remains a lot to be cleaned up. But you can't say this is the same team as last year. Last year's team was not winning this game. Also, the defense kept us in the game in the second half after all the missed opportunities from our offense. You would have thought the failed 4th down play from our own 32 would have sealed our fate, but the defense did not break - they only gave up 10 points in the second half on very short fields. Also (x2), like Memphis last year, we gave FAU way too much time on their last drive. But this time, the defense finished the job.

This was the game plan the whole time…we were employing the Rocky 4 strategy. We let them punch us in the face for 3.5 quarters to wear them down…then BOOM! 💥

Just played our 2nd worst game of the year and was able to pull out a win. That’s huge. This team has some fight in them.

This might be the worst take I've ever heard on this board. Our secondary isn't even in the same time zone as the receivers. Our tackling should be labeled as tickling. If you can't get recruits, that's on the coach. If you are the highest paid g5 DC, you overcome those deficits. Caponi hasn't.

Texas is on another level. I wish SL the best. He elevated the program from a bottom dweller to a .500. Glad he was here, but I’m also glad we moved on. Props to him for answering questions after an embarrassing loss.

Not trying to sound like doom and gloom but for the love of all there is if a head coach in FBS football cannot understand how pathetic our defense is then maybe he's not ready to be an FPS head coach. Again not questioning how good of offensive coach he is but to this point Morris has done absolutely nothing to show that he has the ability at the FBS level to put together a complete coaching staff or at least a wellness to make changes when needed. There is no excuse whatsoever that Capone should have been back this year.

The second major hurricane in three weeks, widespread power outages and 30% of gas stations in the state being out of fuel might have something to do with it. South Florida had 37 tornados during Milton, the most in a single day in state history. It has been beyond insane here.

I will give them credit for making adjustments at halftime. But what does it take to not have to wait until halftime to get these adjustments made?

This is such an undisciplined team. All these penalties after a bye week is ridiculous. What’s worse is they’re illegal procedures and alignment penalties. That is on the coaches. What poor preparation.

FAU HAS OVER 300 YARDS OF OFFENSE IN THE FIRST HALF At what point in the future does our head coach get tired of being embarrassed by the defensive play and make a change. We don't need a holistic approach to anything we need a defensive coordinator who can make adjustments and have teams ready before the game starts

What continues to amaze me is those that try and justify that Caponi can get it done. My question to you why do you want to stay in a situation where North Texas has to outscore everyone and our goal is to be a top 90 defense?
