The extra practice time mattered before the transfer portal. It is mostly meaningless now as half the roster will be bouncing after the season. If you aren’t in the playoff, it is better to finish up the bowl sooner so you can focus on recruiting your own players and start your own portal diving.5 points

I really hope when a player decides this they lose all access to facilities and are not able to be around the team during practice times of course. That may be the case already and if not it needs to be treated as an employee departure situation. No need to impact morale, distract focus or be around sensitive information. beat FAU GMG4 points

It's our Green and White and it looks beautiful. It would be even better with our logos.4 points

The white script on the green helmet will be much easier to see on TV than the green script on the black helmet.4 points

I have been wondering something similar to this with the players that are quitting on their teams four games in and saying they will transfer. I am hoping that they are no longer allowed to use facilities and at that point I would love for the University to tell them they have the choice of paying a prorated portion of their tuition and fees for the semester or they are allowed to drop out completely. PS I have absolutely no problem if they announce their transferring after the season to let them finish out the semester at the university but quitting on a team four games into a season or this young man's case of getting in trouble and not being allowed to play and then leaving the university should not be paying this3 points

Make the players employees of the school, take away scholarships and the free room and board, pay them a salary, take out for taxes, and sign legally binding contracts, and institute a fair salary cap across the board.3 points

This topic came up in another thread and an article in the Texas Standard was sighted with references from 2012 claiming petroleum flares were “polluting” the dark skies around Fort Davis and the observatory. Just wanted to note that I attended a star party about a month ago and stayed in Alpine. The skies were awesome and reminded me of my last visit to the area in 2013.2 points

Tuck the undershirt in. Put the eagle on the helmet although I don’t hate the script. Add a double stripe to the pants.2 points

With all of the players we lost, I'm fine being an underdog. We will be right in the thick of the race with Hodge at the helm. It will take some time for all of the new parts to mesh together but by conference tournament time we will be peaking as a team. Can't wait to get this season started!2 points

I have always loved that look. We wore that combo back in my day at Bryan Adams HS. Very sharp, IMO. And while we're varying up our helmets, why not design one with a waving battle flag? That is definitely, uniquely North Texas.2 points

It’s green and white so no complaints from me. But a slight correction, I’d call it “script” not “beautiful script.” 🤣🤣🤣2 points

Outside of the NY6 and a few others, all bowls are viewed equally by the average CFB fan. Playing TXST in Frisco would be awesome. It would be a great crowd and an opponent we actually care to beat.2 points

It's almost as if the last 7 years of good NT basketball.........never happened. Anyway....I sure don't see why WSU and Temple are ahead of us....but whatever.1 point

No need for anyone to get bent out of shape on this one. Spruiells was always going to be a 3rd or 4th team DB option. Whatever happened didn't help. Makes sense for him to return back to FCS. Northern Arizona was his best offer of only a few coming out of HS. (Can't be more than 5-6, 160)1 point

I completely hate all of this, but if we're going to do it, this is the way to go. Then have the NCAA grow some balls and start punishing schools that do anything that attempts to get around the salary cap, i.e. additional gifts, etc. I haven't put much thought into it, but I would suggest having a set of a few consistent contracts that all players from every school choose from, i.e 1yr, 3yr, etc. with each having various pros and cons just to keep things simple. These could still include various "incentives", but these would be the same across the board. The intent would be to keep a bunch of creative people (lawyers and agents) from getting involved that start adding things like "deferring" money, etc. to find loopholes around the system.1 point

The battle flag is an interesting thought. I can't remember if that's been shown in any of the "concept" uniforms that people have posted.1 point

It takes sustained success over multiple years is the thing. I grew up a Baylor fan during the Morris-into-Briles years and watched it with them. Baylor didn't sell out their first home game (against SMU no less) in 2012 after they had a record breaking season and a freaking Heisman winner. I remember being at that game and pretty disappointed there were large chunks of FCS empty. Then they went on to an 8 win season and a second consecutive bowl win. Then in 2013 they won the Big 12 and went 11-1 and their season average of tickets sold was the highest in that stadiums history. I was at two games against OU and Texas that year and they were both complete sellouts if i recall. UCF didn't sell out their first game in 2018 after going undefeated and even claiming a national championship. TCU was 5,000 short of a sellout in their first home conference game as a Big 12 member in 2012. For schools like us it requires a pattern. Just simple math. Nobody cares about a team that goes 7-5 and loses its bowl every year. You can make fun of games like the Cheez It Bowl or the Pop Tart Bowl or whatever but they do matter! Gotta set a standard of winning when it counts so that it hurts when you don't. Then we won't see a half empty stadium for a 4-1 team.1 point

We are not Rice. We have a huge alumni base that has forgotten about their alma mater. Our issue with attendance and TV viewership should be a quick fix if we are smart. Why do I say this? Because at this moment, UNT football actually has a product to sell that the DFW community and our disenfranchised alumni base will get behind. So here is the plan... Get our athletic department media team to create a commercial promoting the game at FAU and have it run on the local stations all next week. Our game got picked up for ESPN2 in primetime on Saturday. The commercial needs to include imagery of some of the local communities... Signs and water towers type stuff (Denton, Dallas, Fort Worth, and some of the smaller towns too). Highlight our offense stats, and include our most explosive plays this season. Make sure everyone in DFW knows we have the most explosive offense in all of college football. We also need to get the commercial out on X, and have our celebrity alumni retweet it to their fans. It will cost some money, but it can only increase our viewership, which would make it worth the expense. If it works, do the same thing for our Memphis game, should it also get picked up for broadcast Or we can just sit around and keep doing what has yet to work.1 point

This will change weekly through the end of the season. I don't get why everyone is worried about this right now. Lot's of football left to be played.1 point

https://meangreensports.com/news/2024/10/7/huang-has-big-day-to-lead-mens-golf-on-day-2 DALLAS - The UNT men's golf team continued play on Monday at the Trinity Forest Invitational at Trinity Forest Golf Club and were led again by freshman Alex Huang, who had a red-hot day as he fired nine birdies en route to a 6-under 66. I refuse to blame Gen Z. It was us that that restricted their ability to grow and mature. Mom and Dad both worked and had considerably less time to spend with frivolous childish activities. Since the 1990's we have been handing them better and better gaming systems to keep them occupied and out of our hair. Since 2007 we have been handing them, and buying for them, the most advanced phone systems that occupied them and kept them out of our hair. They never did anything outside unless they monitored by a parent or coach. We didn't teach them beneficial values; loyalty, honesty, appreciation, patriotism, piety, charity, and pity for the less fortunate. They got pumped on ADHD medicines because it made parenting even easier. We let some horrible people get elected due a created plague and misguided and contrived race riots. A Green Agenda and Inflation Reduction Act have almost killed the American Dream for this generation. Government entitlements are billed as the only way forward but those benefits are reserved only for certain demographics that place their vices, drug activity, and special interests before the best interests of their country. Their school teachers, many bound to an unholy allegiance to their America hating union bosses, have been of little help. College Admissions were based on DEI (disguised racism). F U Harvard. Now these kids are being launched into the real adult world without having been properly prepared, without having to have participating in all those frivolous indiscretions of youth, and they are viewed as misguided and lazy because of the liberal (socialist) values that have been forced on them. The American Dream is still attainable. Vote FOR America in the coming election (as opposed to voting against it) and the process of correction will begin. A certain party has tried to sell the young people's future away but the dream isn't dead. Review the issues. VOTE WHAT IS BEST FOR AMERICA, and then live the fruitful and rewarding life of the American Dream. Or vote for the incompetent hag and her socialist agenda that are going to place everybody in poverty (equity) for generations. Like I said Gen Z, It's not your fault, but you're the only ones that can lead yourselves out of the mess that we allowed to develop. That or live like Brazil and Argentina in equity poverty. Please save yourselves. Please vote FOR America, live a wonderful and fruitful life, and raise your not yet envisioned children to live the American Dream. A "Woke" anti-America vote will ruin your children's and grandchildren's lives.1 point

The thing that always baffles me is that UNT does not lack for sports fans. But we do lack for UNT sports fans. Trust is earned over a long period of time so I *think* if we can sustain of level of competitiveness without a huge drop off or let downs, you could see a point where we average 25k+ for a season. But then on the flip side you see basketball do what they do and still struggle with consistent attendance. So idk… glad it’s not my job to figure this out.1 point
