FAU’s pass defense rank is artificially high since they played Army (four passes only, I think) and FCS Wagner.5 points

There's several great weather channels on YT, but this is one of a couple that I watch when local weather is threatening. He does a live stream that includes his analysis along with numerous storm chaser video feeds and input. I've never watched him during a hurricane, but he's really informative and worth watching if you're interested in realtime updates on what's happening. url: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-V_YnmER0Y4 points

Was not aware of his transfer as well. Kid changes schools every year. (Greenhill, Plano Prestonwood, Oak Hill Academy and now Argyle). If true, he would team well with 6-9 Kash Polk to form a nice front line. The UIL is scheduled to discuss Oak Cliff Faith Family this Friday. More than likely, they will force them to move up to 6A (from 5A)or not play other UIL schools. If eligible, they should be the favorites in 5A for the state championship.3 points

https://www.fauowlsnest.com/news/view/football/fau-coach-tom-herman_8.htm?filter=*%2C!1783%2C!1784 FAU Coach Tom Herman fielded questions Tuesday afternoon as FAU came out of the bye week and prepared for a matchup with North Texas on ESPN 2 this Saturday. The Owls are dealing with injury issues at receiver, but they have healed up at other positions and head into this matchup with a healthy QB room and DB room which over the past 2 weeks has been an issue. Herman discusses a variety of niche topics from the need of an IPF, the culture of the program keeping players in the program, the effects of hurricane Milton on practice and more. The Owls head into this game optimistic having seen what they look like at their best in the second half against Wagner, but North Texas will provide a new challenge that will show if FAU has turned a page heading into conference play. Herman on what he expects out of North Texas “Coach has got them going really good. They're four and one, led mostly by their offense. Chandler Morris at quarterback, a young man that I saw in high school, heck of a player in high school, and was a big time recruit and got a ton of respect for his dad, former head coach at SMU, Arkansas offensive coordinator at Clemson and Chad Morris. So football family, anytime you get those guys, you got a coach's kid at quarterback that was whatever he was, a four star talent wise, who's a coach's kid who's now in his sixth year, That's a that's a really, really smart dude back there taking snaps for you, got 16 touchdowns in five games. That's by my math. That's over three a game. But he has thrown, you know, six picks, so that's over one a game. So we've got to disrupt him at the end of the day. If he has a good day, we're not going to have a good day. We need to make sure that, one, we cover the guys really well, but two, that he feels that kind of pressure I said on the TV show, that I've been around some really, really good quarterbacks. Had to coach against some too, and none of them can throw it from their back, and very few of them can throw it at their best when guys are breathing out their neck so he's the key defensively. We've got to make him feel uncomfortable, and part of that is making sure guys aren't open down the field,” Herman said.2 points

Didn't see the female reporter in the baseball helmet. The above thing....I've sent that to numerous people down through the years. It's even better when you see the video and her buildup....talking about the bad flooding...and then these two guys walk by. Matt Lauer and Katie Couric lost it......when that happened.2 points

Outside of the NY6 and a few others, all bowls are viewed equally by the average CFB fan. Playing TXST in Frisco would be awesome. It would be a great crowd and an opponent we actually care to beat.2 points

This will change weekly through the end of the season. I don't get why everyone is worried about this right now. Lot's of football left to be played.2 points

You wanna' put butts in seats? Here's the solution. Beat FAU. Play the Memphis game like the Arkansas game, instead of the TTech game. Win the Tulane game. The Army game will be a sellout. Alternatively, play Memphis like TTech. Lose to Tulane. Watch Army run and throw all over us. There'll be 10k or less at the rest of the games.2 points

Long days and pleasant nights, 2023-24 Mean Green. It’s time for a very new group to contend in Denton, TX. Even relative to the current realities of college athletics, it’s been an eventful couple of years for North Texas. Just two winters ago, Grant McCasland was leading UNT on their second straight postseason run on the heels of a big, loud, successful campaign. Then, McCasland departed for the Big 12, as did superstar guard Tylor Perry. No matter; the Mean Green tabbed Ross Hodge, a promising young assistant to McCasland, to lead the returning core. In his first rodeo, Hodge lured some quality players from the transfer portal and kept North Texas right in the mix. Despite a fistful of injuries and six losses by five points or fewer in American Athletic Conference play, Hodge debuted with 19 wins and an NIT win at LSU before being knocked out of the tournament by its eventual champion, red-hot Seton Hall. Last Year: 19-15; 10-8, Seventh in the American Athletic Conference, lost in the second round of the NIT Head Coach: Ross Hodge (Second Year) Projected Starting Lineup PG Jasper Floyd – 6’3″, 190 Senior G Atin Wright – 6’1″, 190 5th-year Senior G Rondel Walker – 6’5″, 180 5th-year Senior F Grant Newell – 6’9″, 225 Junior C Moulaye Sissoko – 6’9″, 250 5th-year Senior Experienced Reserves G Latrell Jossell – 6’1″, 185 Senior G Matthew Stone – 6’4″, 200 Senior W Johnathan Massie – 6’6″, 205 Senior F Brenen Lorient – 6’9″, 210 Junior Freshmen G Tyran Mason – 6’6″, 195 F/C Baron Smith, Jr – 6’9″, 220 F/C Brock Vice – 6’10”, 230 (Redshirt) read more: https://collegehoopstop50.com/2024/10/03/69-north-texas-mean-green/1 point

I love the idea of playing Texas State. I know people here like to hate on them, but they just announced their second home sell out of the season. Wish we could say the same.1 point

Honestly this is from moving up to the American. More reliable schedules and consistent broadcasts. CUSA was struggling to find slots 5 days before the game for webcast only. Gone are the Stadium days. I loved watching games for free, but it doesn’t help the program get to the next step. Look at the programs left behind- relegated to playing Tuesday and Wednesday for tv time.1 point

Interesting that they like UTSA don't have a true IPF like we do but he doesn't mention them. Herman on the need of an IPF and schools willingness to make one “Yeah, and I, and I know that Brian White our athletic director, shares that vision with me. You know, we made the jump into this conference, I hope with eyes very wide open. You know, of the 14 teams in this conference, us and Charlotte are the only two that don't either have an indoor practice facility or plans to get one. And so we're working really hard behind the scenes. I know Brian and Mary are, and it's fun to see that and then understand. And the university, hey, we decided to be in this conference. We better act like it, you know. And so although it has affected these last few weeks, it's been nice to see people on campus acknowledge like, Hey, this is something we need, and we need it in a hurry and something temporarily, even, you know, by next off season. So I think the wheels are definitely in motion, I don't want to over say, nothing's been promised to me, but I am confident that everybody that needs to know how important it is does know how important it is, and is working really hard to make sure that we get there,” Herman said.1 point
