I hate to see this. Graham was great at UNT and I thought he was a rising star in the coaching ranks. Plus, seems to be a great guy and he’s a local kid from Ennis.11 points

I'd much rather our play on the field do the talking. We have the opportunity to beat Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA this season. Let's seize the moment and the national pundits will do the talking. GMG.8 points

Tulsa allowed an average of 366 yards coming into yesterday. We racked up 620, 254 over their season average against other opponents. South Alabama has averaged allowing 421 yards since we played them. We had 550, 129 over their season average against other opponents. Wyoming has averaged allowing 375 yards per game outside of when they played us. We had 534 against them, 159 over their season average against other opponents. We are an extremely large part of why these teams are ranked so low defensively. These defenses not being great doesn’t change the fact that we are exposing them in ways that other teams are not. We are outperforming their other opponents by very large amounts.8 points

Just win.... If that was true the PAC has no "Business Sense" for success.7 points

We've got a chance to make a serious move up that list each over the next 4 games. And every win will get us more visibility. Can this team PLEASE not be another mirage, continue to improve, and take advantage of the opportunity instead of sh%%ing the bed once we get national attention. PLEASE!!!! Give us something even close to that absolutely magical experience of winning the NIT.6 points

Graham and Eric Morris played together at Texas Tech, right? Get him back to Denton.6 points

South Alabama is a good team. If Lopez plays against Ohio, they beat them instead of losing to them by a touchdown. Then they had to play at LSU. ESPN’s matchup predictor gives South Alabama a 65% chance or better to win each of their remaining games, except at Louisiana where it’s 55%. When the season is over we’ll look back at that opener as one of our better non-conference wins in recent years. But definitely get your point. We have a good team. Bad or average teams don’t do what we just saw. We have 3 good teams left on our schedule. Hope we make those opportunities count now that we have the team to do so.6 points

Probably been noted elsewhere.....but Wyoming beat Air Force 31-19. And....Army is 4-0...... Their next four games before they come to Denton on 11/9: At Tulsa UAB at home. East Carolina at home. Air Force at home. Hoping like crazy....that Army is 8-0 and ranked when they come to Denton......5 points

Just curious, what kind of statement are you looking for? Any kind of statement I can think of under the circumstances other than "we're all committed to the AAC" sounds to me like a desperate cry for attention.5 points

The biggest programs in college football hire guys like this as analysts. There's no such thing as being "good on offense." Bring him in and have him do nothing but scout the defenses of Memphis, Tulane, and Army so the top decision makers can gain as much knowledge on those opponents and game plan appropriately. Don't need him to coach, don't need him on the field. Just game plan. If somebody gets hired away this offseason, he's here to promote if needed.5 points

Some of you will play whatever mental gymnastics you can to dismiss anything good happening on Bonnie Brae. They are coming off one of the most convincing wins we have seen around here in a really long time, they’re 4-1, and some of you can’t just sit back and be jazzed about that. I don’t get it.5 points

That team was just never the same after that La Tech loss. Maybe that could be chalked up to Seth rumor mill factors, but that team just wasn’t very good after that 4-0 start. Only went 5-4 from there while struggling to beat a 1-11 UTEP team by 3, struggling to beat a 3-9 UTSA team by 3, playing neck and neck for 3 quarters at home against a 2-11 Rice team, and losing to a 4-8 ODU team after starting up 28-0 on them. Week in and week out in that second half of the season the execution was just really underwhelming given the expectation that team set early on. Which speaks to the point of “it’s too early” with this team. If they play like they have the last two weeks (or even like they did against South Alabama), they probably go 8-4 or maybe even 9-3 against this schedule. But just glad we’re even having this type of conversation two years into Morris’ tenure.5 points

Without looking up everyone else's scores, #12 sounds pretty good to me. We have a bad loss, and we don't have a true quality win.4 points

Tech was obviously the biggest opportunity, but beating Memphis, Tulane, and Army will turn some heads. UTSA too on national television... Even if they aren't the same UTSA, it's a program that was allegedly a bigger expansion target than us.4 points

I don't think he is saying go crazy and celebrate like we just won the national championship. I think he is saying stop trying to find reasons to crap on this team and be happy for where we are. We can be cautiously optimistic like was stated by someone else, but we don't have to crap on what they are doing by making comments like "Well, we have not played anyone." We play the teams on our schedule.4 points

Barring injury, Sibley will be an all conference type back IMO. I just hope it happens at UNT.4 points

I really feel we will be at either Tulane here or Army here. Oh how I remember the last time Army came here. We had a good crowd with lots of Army fans. They were setting close to me in section 207 crowing because they were ahead with 2 minutes to play. Well guess what Mr. Fine marched us down the field and as time was expiring we kicked a field goal to win. I told all the Army fans don't count your chickens before their hatched and they said oh no we wont let UNT drive on us we just don't do that. Well Mason did it and they left very dejected.4 points

It's called a controlled dive. Been here long enough to get excited and get crushed the next week. I'm excited about 4-1. But history says we shouldn't celebrate too soon.4 points

This is a simplistic outlook. Stats give us data that serve as a foundation for predicting future win/loss outcomes. If you choose not to use that data, that’s fine. Just waiting for the result to happen is cool. But to act like stats don’t serve any application and reducing to a quick, snappy statement like “stats are for dads” is just a very short-sighted approach.4 points

Tulsa isn't TTech in the same way SFA isn't TTech. Every team we've beaten has a losing(ish) record (partly thanks to us, hell yeah) We are in the honeymoon phase equivalent of knocking up the ugly girl after a drunken night out and being forced to committing to it. We need to beat a team of substance. 1-4 Wyoming 2-2 SFA 2-3 USA 2-3 Tulsa 4-1 Tech I'm enjoying the ride as much as anyone, but we have always struggled beating a good team. Let's get it done. We look much improved, Memphis will be our big test on how true it is4 points

All I want is instead of the band to start the game to hear the shattered glass and see stone cold ride out with a couple beers on his four wheeler as the team follows. Just once make this happen!4 points

I’d hate to be a Mean Green player They lose and it’s “Same ol’ North Texas, we’ll never turn the corner” They win close games and it’s “We got so lucky that the other team didn’t execute…our defense dodged a bullet and they’re still bad” They literally BLOW OUT two straight opponents AND hold them beneath their regular offensive output and it’s “Well, their QB sucked and most of their players are transfers from the local YMCA” Repeat after me Mean Green fans… ”It is ok to be happy about my team being 4-1”4 points

If we ever have a sellout....it will happen naturally (like it almost did against La Tech in '18). Our crowd that day was 30,105.....which is more than our current capacity.....but wasn't a sellout back then. As to the crowd on 11/9.......if Army is undefeated and ranked....I predict they bring the biggest visiting crowd in Apogee/DATCU history.4 points

Well, let me start my answer (or non-answer) with some perspective. Imagine how that game would have gone last night had we not had SO MANY STUPID FRIGGIN PENALTIES. This is a question that really should be re-visited at the end of the season. Or between the last game and the bowl game. If there is no bowl game, then the question is moot. What it looks like to me is that the coaching staff is still plugging-in new guys in to see how they perform in a game situation. My observation through the years has been that, by and large, people who practice well usually do well in a game. However, there are those players who come alive at game time and thrive in that environment. On offense, the "plugging in the new guys" tends to be the receivers and RB's. I wasn't terribly impressed with Carnes (#7) in the beginning of the season, but I was last night. The same goes for "0" Mr. Conwright. On defense, they seem to be mainly plugging in new DL players and looking at how the new guys do in different situations. Same for DB's. I noticed that they are giving 89 (Dawkins a senior transfer) more playing time, as well as 46 (Lamperi) who is a true freshman. Our OL is still a works in progress. They pretty much kept Morris safe on passing downs, but they really got stuffed on running plays.....especially in the first half. We cannot have a repeat of that vs Tulane/Memphis/Army. As to comparing this team to others. I would throw in the 1988 "flying wishbone" team to the mix. You know, the one that beat Texas....and Tech....and Rice.4 points

This is just my opinion. Since moving to the 3-4, our defense has done good work. They kept us in the game until the offense woke up. I loved how fired up Caponi got on that one pass interference that was later reversed. That's what I want to see from our DC. People kept saying how we just needed an average defense and we would be okay. We now seem to have that and now we start saying, but we gave up X amount of yards or the opponent is inferior. Can we stop moving the goal post? This defense effectively allowed only 3 points to a decent offensive team. Those other 17 were in garbage time after we pulled starters. The scoreboard is the only stat that matters. Now to attendance. It was disappointing, but what was more disappointing was how people poured out of the stadium in the third quarter. They left like we were the ones losing. Can our fans just stay until the last whistle? Those guys are playing their asses off to give us a good win and people leave like they did and crap all over their efforts. Then we cry when guys don't want to come back because of lack of fan support. That's my two cents.4 points

Ok, that’s an intentionally misleading thread title, but hear me out. First off, if you read this as me downplaying how bad the beatdown was in Lubbock then I’m not expressing what I mean very well. It was a bad, bad loss. Now, to my point. First off, I feel like Tech came to play against us. If they play like they did against us, they will win a lot of games this year, and I don’t think we’re beating them on that particular Saturday regardless. That being said, we made it waaaay easier than it should have been. The minute or so stretch where we missed a chip shot field goal and threw 3 interceptions (two of which were flukes and one of which was a pick 6) essentially ended the game. They were running the ball down our throats, but the game turned on our mistakes. Contrast that with last night. The game changed after they pinned us inside the one yard line and we went 99 yards in 3 plays. Yes, they also threw a pick during our 24 point outburst in the 2nd quarter, but it wasn’t a fluke interception. I guess my point is that we turned both of those games into blowouts. At Tech, our miscues turned the game and versus Tulsa, our making plays turned the game.3 points

I just checked the new status and ranking for Chandler Morris and he is 5 th nationally and very close to 4 th. He is 4 th or 5 th in other stats. He leads all other quarterbacks in the American Conference. Also we are not longer last in scoring defence as a team. Check the stats and we have players in the top 25 in a lot of sats nationally.3 points

I’m assuming he’s still getting paid by his now previous employer. Nothing wrong having another name Texans are aware of.3 points

His fall from grace is odd imo. I credit him with our offensive success in the early Littrell era. I think he got a raw deal at WV. Neal Brown is still HC and I think he threw Harrell under the bus. Brown is 29-29 as HC at WV. Looking at the scores for 2023 and 2024, it doesn't look bad on offense for most games (not including Ohio State or other power houses). Score doesn't always show offensive prowess but they gave up 38 points to Oregon State this year. I think this is another thrown under the bus situation. And I wouldn't be surprised if Harrell thought that might be the case with SL and moved on.3 points

Yeah Morris says "A split safety look" but I also saw a lot of single-high. I think we are getting more heavy players on the field. Then we are also just tackling better. We are mixing it up -- different looks here and there -- so we are not so predictable. I think the 3-high has a lot of advantages but we had nothing in response when teams would attack it. So it really is about just having something else in the toolbag to go along with better performing.3 points
