This may be the biggest knee jerk reaction ever on a forum that knows a thing or two about knee jerk reactions🤣🤣🤣 In two weeks we’ve gone from “Fire everyone” to “Best team ever.” I love this forum.20 points

Just saying. We've given him a lot of grief for last season, a lot of it deserved, but he deserves some praise for a good game as well. Not counting garbage time, he essentially held Tulsa to 3 points.15 points

Please. We've had a couple of great games in a row. Not even sure what you mean by "modern era." Maybe by the end of the year, we measure up very nicely. But as of now, I'd give it to the 2002 and 2013 teams by a pretty good margin.14 points

I’ve seen so many games where UNT hasn’t put away even the bad teams that I’m super encouraged by what this team has done tonight. The stats don’t matter. They start over every game and as long as we win the points stat, I don’t care if we lose every other stat category. This team has taken care of business tonight. That’s bad*ss!14 points

We demolished them but Tulsa will finish 4-8. Great game, doesn't take away from a solid win, but that's a crummy team. Bye week and then a road trip against a very winnable opponent, hope their heads stay in the right place!13 points

Probably been noted elsewhere.....but Wyoming beat Air Force 31-19. And....Army is 4-0...... Their next four games before they come to Denton on 11/9: At Tulsa UAB at home. East Carolina at home. Air Force at home. Hoping like crazy....that Army is 8-0 and ranked when they come to Denton......12 points

After watching the PAC and how they treated the MWC, I don’t trust them nor do I want anything to do with them. Both the PAC and MWC are weakened conferences mired in a lawsuit with each other. We’re better off standing on our own and not elevating either with an association with the AAC. Also, just leave the MAC alone. They’ve got a good thing going in the MAC. Let’s not ruin that.11 points

13 penalities for 115 yards. We have to clean this up10 points

I'm not ready to believe in caponi, but after the last 6 quarters he at least deserves to pick up a milk shake on the way home and file an expense report. Nothing crazy. Maybe a frosty from Wendys10 points

I’m truly not meaning to be argumentative, but our defense has given up 3 points and it’s almost halftime. How is that inept?10 points

Tulsa finished 4-8 last year and we won in their house 35-28 thanks to a big run late from Adaway. I mark this as making significant progress. Good teams blow out bad teams. If Tulsa is a bad team? Well then maybe we are good team (AAC level). When we travel to FAU and Memphis we'll learn some things. We allowed 38 to USA, 66 to TTU both on the road. We've allowed 20, 17, 20 to home opponents. Does our defense travel against non-great offenses?8 points

The more I think about these last two games, you have to give Morris/Caponi some credit. This is a different defense. Still lots of room to grow. They would tell you that, but this year would be an exact copy of last year if they hadn’t made the change. Also, Morris is a hell of an offensive coach!8 points

For how this game started to now is an amazing turn. That 96 yd wr screen going for a td turned the game and we’ve blown the doors off of them since. Defense gave up yards early, but didn’t break and kept us in the game. Really pleased with the improvement there in the last two weeks. The 3-4 is here to stay.8 points

Huge props to O lineman Larry Moore for being about 60-70 yards downfield......still blocking guys....on the TD!!!!!!!8 points

Larry Moore has made a lot of penalties but holy shit how athletic is he to make that entire TD run with the receiver??8 points

OUR MEAN GREEN ARE 4-1!!!! OK, so maybe it doesn't feel like we're 4-1, but I'll take it, no matter how weird it feels. If you'd told me halfway through the second quarter of tonight's game that we'd not just win by double digits, but in a blowout, I would have taken that bet and felt like I was laughing all the way to the bank. We went from a team that was executing poorly, that looked tentative, to a team that could do no wrong on the offensive side of the ball. It was an astonishing adjustment. Three ongoing things I worry about with this team: 1. OL penalties. Good lord those guys get flagged a lot. It's not as noticeable when you're piling on points, but these kinds of consistent holding penalties will sink us in a competitive game. 2. Not stopping the run. Tulsa was running against us; thankfully, we ran up the score and forced them away from it until garbage time. In a competitive game, that will once more be a problem. 3. Bad QB inflation. Evan Svoboda and Kirk Francis are not good QBs. I'm sure they're good people* and their families love them, but being loved by your family doesn't make you a good QB. How much of what we've seen defensively these last two weeks is inflation due to facing back-to-back bad QBs? I'm sure there's some inflation in there, but I hope there was also some confidence building, too. One ongoing thing I'm not worried about with this team: 1. The RB room. Season in, season out, across different coaching regimes, Patrick Cobbs' ability to coach up all the RBs on our roster is nothing short of astounding. In the first three weeks, we lose Ragsdale, Price, and Harris to injuries. Up step two freshmen in McGill and Sibley and K-State transfer Porter and the offense just keeps rolling. As much turnover as we have whenever a new head coach shows up, as much turnover as we have in offensive coordinators, what Patrick Cobbs has consistently done with our RBs is phenomenal. * Maybe not Francis. Did y'all see his laughable flopping tonight?! Even the Tulsa fans sitting next to me laughed at him. That would work great in England or Spain or Italy, but not here.7 points

This is the best qb that I have seen at UNT in the last 30 years. If he stays healthy and stays for the 2 years, all records will be broken.7 points

All I want is instead of the band to start the game to hear the shattered glass and see stone cold ride out with a couple beers on his four wheeler as the team follows. Just once make this happen!7 points

This team demolished a decent Tulsa squad tonight. Chandler Morris is the best QB I have ever seen in 20 plus years of following this program.7 points

I’d hate to be a Mean Green player They lose and it’s “Same ol’ North Texas, we’ll never turn the corner” They win close games and it’s “We got so lucky that the other team didn’t execute…our defense dodged a bullet and they’re still bad” They literally BLOW OUT two straight opponents AND hold them beneath their regular offensive output and it’s “Well, their QB sucked and most of their players are transfers from the local YMCA” Repeat after me Mean Green fans… ”It is ok to be happy about my team being 4-1”7 points

Chandler is tied for 2nd in school history in career 400-yard passing games with 2, in just his first 5 starts. Also, since that last pick against Tech where the ball hit off our receiver and got batted up 15 feet in the air, Morris has thrown 88 passes with 8 touchdowns against 0 interceptions. The outside receiver play has been pretty unreliable with Ward and Aaron out/limited during that time. Really excited to see us get some guys healthy and back to full speed over this bye week.7 points

This is just my opinion. Since moving to the 3-4, our defense has done good work. They kept us in the game until the offense woke up. I loved how fired up Caponi got on that one pass interference that was later reversed. That's what I want to see from our DC. People kept saying how we just needed an average defense and we would be okay. We now seem to have that and now we start saying, but we gave up X amount of yards or the opponent is inferior. Can we stop moving the goal post? This defense effectively allowed only 3 points to a decent offensive team. Those other 17 were in garbage time after we pulled starters. The scoreboard is the only stat that matters. Now to attendance. It was disappointing, but what was more disappointing was how people poured out of the stadium in the third quarter. They left like we were the ones losing. Can our fans just stay until the last whistle? Those guys are playing their asses off to give us a good win and people leave like they did and crap all over their efforts. Then we cry when guys don't want to come back because of lack of fan support. That's my two cents.7 points

Hats off to Caponi and staff for making adjustments. It was nice to see them mix up the different looks. The defense is improving and the offense has shown the ability to be explosive. Also, kudos to the special teams. Blocking punts, great returns, and hitting a FG. Nature is healing, we are 4-1.7 points

Part of what made Mason so great was that he was the ultimate underdog story. Add to that the leadership he showed and the fact that he was such a great ambassador for the university. He was just impossible not to root for. But yeah, Morris is off to a great start. I have to imagine he is the most highly ranked QB we’ve ever had based on his 4-star ranking out of high school.7 points

Scott Hall, Mitch Maher and Steve Ramsey would all be ranked miles above Derek Thompson, who was certainly solid.7 points

The blowout loss at Tech was the final nail in the 3-3-5 coffin. It wasn’t pleasant but it needed to happen.6 points

That team was just never the same after that La Tech loss. Maybe that could be chalked up to Seth rumor mill factors, but that team just wasn’t very good after that 4-0 start. Only went 5-4 from there while struggling to beat a 1-11 UTEP team by 3, struggling to beat a 3-9 UTSA team by 3, playing neck and neck for 3 quarters at home against a 2-11 Rice team, and losing to a 4-8 ODU team after starting up 28-0 on them. Week in and week out in that second half of the season the execution was just really underwhelming given the expectation that team set early on. Which speaks to the point of “it’s too early” with this team. If they play like they have the last two weeks (or even like they did against South Alabama), they probably go 8-4 or maybe even 9-3 against this schedule. But just glad we’re even having this type of conversation two years into Morris’ tenure.6 points
-
As of now, I'd give a pretty clear edge to the 2018 team. They started the season 6-1, and their losses were close. Until the bowl game, that is. If this team wins a bowl game, then yes, they will be better than any team Seth ever had.6 points
-
We had a 99 yard drive, then a 1 yard drive. I would be surprised if we've done that in the same game.6 points

Today….. 1) Fine 2) Morris, but if he stays healthy for two years and wins an AAC Championship I think he takes the top spot.6 points

I’m not dumb enough to think we have a good defense, but good lord at least wait until it’s warranted to bitch about it. At this point the defense is better than the offense this game.6 points

If we beat FAU and Memphis I would be really disappointed with anything less than 28k for Tulane. 6-1 vs a team that has been one of the best in our conference over the last 2 years. Plus…it’s homecoming.5 points

Yep. He had a bad arm and threw for 439 and 5 scores. I saw it the first game. His upside is so high. Upgrade over last year's Chandler 4 and he was a good QB5 points

DT had a heroic performance in a bowl win; so in that respect, he beats out the other 2. But generally as a QB, and statwise, he doesn't compare to the other 2.5 points
