  1. They’re a large school in a major east coast city. Also a good travel partner in football for Army and Navy. Not sure we should be throwing stones.

  2. I know they suck at football but they’re a recognizable brand, particularly in basketball. I wouldn’t say they don’t bring anything to the table. Plus it is nice to have someone to beat up on in football (though we shouldn’t take it for granted).

  3. For me, the question is simple. Does player X make my team better if he plays now? If yes, I’m not worried about redshirts. In the transfer portal era, even more so, redshirts have to be pretty unique situations.

  4. Temple beat Utah State last weekend 45-29. Utah State just now accepted an invite to become the 7th member of the PAC, lol. Always nice to beat another G5 conference's team.

  6. We are the “American” Athletic Conference. What’s more American than having all 3 service academies?
    11 points
  7. Sorry, but the service academies are great to have in our conference, but I would guesstimate that the average rank of each of the teams over the past ten years is 60 or higher. They aren't world beaters, they recruit a different type of ball player than we do, etc. I see them as great members of the conference, but dominance? That might be a little hyperbolic.

  10. The AAC doesn’t need to dump anyone you dill! Utah State just bolted the Mountain West! The Mountain West is weak and susceptible to a raid of teams right now looking for stability. The AAC should go after UNLV and Air Force and maybe New Mexico as well.

  15. I live in Florida and one of the penalties I pay for that is I have to catch the football broadcast on Varsity network. The past game I was subjected to hearing Wyoming broadcast team and to pit it bluntly, it was painful. We are extremely fortunate to have the UNT broadcasters we have.

  16. I also see them adding some unique protection to a conference meaning it will be harder for the TV networks or other conferences to do them dirty in the public eye. They are well established with lots of history and admiration.

  17. Beefing up the top of the league? Don't threaten me with a good time.

  18. I think we need to start winning some more before we start trying to get other teams tossed from the conference. We aren’t exactly in the safest of positions ourselves lol

  20. Something to keep in mind with Spruiells is that he still has a redshirt available. Allen and Brice have already redshirted but Spruiells could take a redshirt this season as long as he plays in 4 games or less. Might be the smart play given the ramp up these guys will likely need to get back in playing shape.

  22. Fun Fact #1: Temple has won the AAC football championship more times than USF. Fun Fact #2: Temple is tied with Memphis and Tulane for the most number of AAC football championships out of all current members. Fun Fact #3: Temple, Memphis, and Tulane have won one championship each.

  23. Did you happen to see him when he had the cap ON TOP OF the headphones. Just a ridiculous look for anyone, but especially a head coach.

  24. First of all, this is week 4! Let's see an average of week 12 standings over a 3 or 5 year period before we start talking "years of dominance." Secondly, @ColoradoEagle is right - there's nothing wrong with having a stronger top of the league. Look at the SEC, that helps everyone including those at the bottom of the league.

  25. If so, that’s a much better optic. Obviously we don’t know who talked to who about what. But the national perception was that UTSA was a candidate and we were not. And that’s a pathetic indictment of our athletic program. That’s why I reacted strongly to our “commitment” post. Saying we were committed to the conference without any (perception of) another option would be silly.

  26. If it was the B1G and SEC talking to teams, I would be more worried. The State 7, maybe but not as much.

  27. Keeping Tulane, Memphis and USF in the AAC was a big win for our new commissioner Tim Pernetti. I don't include UTSA because they were never officially invited.

  28. No, I do not believe it is. That was one of the agreements when Army joined. It will still be played after the conference championship game. https://www.si.com/college/group-five/aac/why-army-navy-will-be-a-non-conference-game-in-2024-and-beyond-service-academy-football-tv

  29. Wow... so the MWC threw the PAC-2 a bone with a scheduling agreement that included a penalty of $10M per school if the PAC tried to poach schools from the MWC. The PAC-2 agreed to terms, then a year later decides to poach MWC schools. However when it comes time to pay up, the PAC has the audacity to sue the MWC to get out from paying the $10M per school. What a dick move by the new PAC.

  30. The very best thing that could happen to college sports is for NIL too bankrupt it. Then, you can get back to playing actual amateurish sports again. I don't think anyone minds the idea of a supplemental income of some sort, but having the universities pay players directly and boosters to do it as well is just gross. These players suing from decades past knew what the situation was when they took the scholarship and the exposure at these schools. But if I really want this all to burn down, then I guess I should root for the Fab Five and Reggie Bush to win their cases.

  36. Looks like every school posted a "committed" tweet. I won't share them all because it's too much. People on the twitters are pointing out it's like when the original PAC did a post saying they were committed and then all hell broke loose shortly after. Anybody get the same feeling?

  38. Sorry Admins...this needs to be on the Football forum! Great news for us to stay the top G5 conference....

  39. Exactly! Same feeling. I think we’ll see an AAC school re-consider by the end of the week.

  40. I have a feeling Spruiells will be back as well. He's never stopped retweeting about UNT, even posts about them being suspended. Allen doesn't post much on Twitter or Instagram so I've got no indication either way.

  41. It's getting exciting folks! Looks like AF is getting cold feet with the MWC.

  42. Well now that USU is moving to the PAC, UNLV is rethinking its commitment to the MWC because they were told the Aggies were staying as well. I don't know how that affects the AFA but this is really turning into a cluster f--k.

  43. I feel like the AAC is in a good spot to be very intentional about who they go after. I could see some hybrid of schools from the SBC and the MWC making a lot of sense, at this point.

  44. Only Memphis is worthy of a conference upgrade IMO (maybe South Florida). Tulane has little historical success, other than the last 2 FB seasons. The UTSA Frank Harris's were good for the 5 years he was there.

  45. This. We have to stop aiming to be "good" and set our sights on being the best in the conference.
