Oh this is getting dark for the Pac. Might have witnessed an epic fumble.8 points

The only thing I can take from this is that the media deal wasn't there. Along with the right revenue share.8 points

Everybody is run heavy against a 3-3. Too many gaps, not enough dudes to fill. It's a math problem. 3-3-5 was designed to fit those specific 11 players. We've been trying to fit our 11 into that specific scheme. Good coaches do what is best for their kids at that moment. Poor coaches try to fit square pegs into round holes.8 points

It was the right call. Wyoming had big tight end sets and it would have been silly to have the 3-high look against it. For what it is worth we held SFA to similar numbers with the 3-high. My eyes told me the 3-4 look was the same "scheme" with the fourth linebacker just taking the star's responsibilities. In the defense's playbook, that mostly means you don't have the option to go to some false looks to disguise which safety is playing deep. In reality, the team still can do all the split-field safety stuff (2 high/quarters/2-read/2-man/ etc) stuff. The 3-4 is useful as we have lots of depth at linebacker now. The defensive line is also more effective. I think we'll see some 3-high stuff situationally, as it was primarily designed to stop spread offenses. In our league we have a lot of run-heavy squads so it is not necessarily useful here.8 points

And let's be clear. This is only a victory because otherwise we'd be left behind. This buys us time until the next round of realignment because we're clearly not currently a priority for conferences trying to grow their brand. Hopefully our leadership recognizes that and acts with a sense of urgency moving forward.7 points

AAC has the chance to absolutely cripple the Pac by getting UNLV and Air Force. Leaves them with very little options other than just be MWC+7 points

Looks like the PAC 12 did not hold all the cards LMAO Now, lets go on the offensive and cement the AAC as the best G5 conference!7 points

Sorry Admins...this needs to be on the Football forum! Great news for us to stay the top G5 conference....6 points

Does this rub anyone else the wrong way? If the conference is going to send something out declaring solidarity among its members, it should include all members, not just these four. Almost like they are setting these four apart as a sort of upper echelon of the conference. Flub by the AAC IMHO. It has an "All members are equal, it's just that some are more equal than others" vibe to it.6 points

After seeing the "offer" from the Pac, don't see why AAC would have put together a counter to the 4 schools other than a "good luck with that".6 points

OOOOF. PAC taking Ls from both AAC and MWC today.6 points

Mosley needs to come out with a statement indicating UNT is reaffirming its commitment to the AAC.6 points

They're already getting more money than we are. Why would I, as a UNT alumnus/supporter/fan, be in favor of making UNT's position within the conference lower than it already is?6 points

NICE! Too rich for me but glad others that were able stepped up!6 points

I mean I’ve spent lots of time talking about this defense (which I do not love) but there aren’t too many gaps. The scheme accounts for gaps, but relies on excellent linebacker play to go along with excellent safety play. For me, it always comes down to the defensive line. In 2013, we ran a 4-3 base and Flusche et al generated pressure with that front four and it made the whole group very good. The next year with the same base we were leaky. The difference was the line. Reffett had a solid defense with Nate Brooks and Kemon Hall at corner and would bring LB blitzes (to make up for the lack of great line play) and it worked. The next year they struggled as the corners couldn’t man up and the pressure was late. Littell’s defenses post Reffet were awful until he lucked into the Murphy twins and upset top 25 UTSA. Mazin Richards helped him get enough to get to the title game the next year. Last year? Awful line play. This year? Better line play. It’s always about line play no matter how many you put out there. Get pressure on the QB or else you lose.6 points

Slippery slope to offer more money to a select few teams. If they go and we get the AFA and perhaps Texas State the AAC should be okay. UNLV is a bridge too far and there must be a reason the PAC 6 didn't include them to begin with. Yesterday a pod caster said that if Tulane and Memphis don't join the Pac 6 that the conference would add UNLV and Utah State. He also said that if they still want to get into Texas, UTSA ,TSU, and UNT would be their prospects. Who knows?5 points

By no means would I complain about being back in a bowl game, but can we please give fans a chance to go some place they couldn’t go on a random Tuesday?5 points

Appreciate your insight @flyonthewall and your analysis is spot on. You and your groups’ support has been critical and is much appreciated by all of us. Look, I get that a lot of fans dislike NIL, heck I don't love it myself, but I do care about UNT and our ability to compete and provide continuity to the success we have already achieved. As a quick reminder, we beat Memphis last year at home and beat LSU on the road in the NIT. The year before we won the whole damn NIT! And before that went a couple rounds in the NCAA tourney and beat Purdue. And from what I understand this year’s team could be very good! I am grateful to those who have stepped up and helped. You know who you are and have been recognized here and will continue to be. Please do what you can to support us, and I hope many of you will. If you don't want to, that is fine too. Just do us a favor and don't come in here and kick us in the nuts about it. This golf tournament is a new way to help out on NIL and the interest so far has been really good! Believe me we get the reasons and the frustration about the whole NIL thing - more than you know. And yet, we still must persevere. GMG5 points

I don't perceive any additional benefits for them; financially, it just wasn't advantageous to leave for PAC-X.4 points

So, I guess that UTEP and NMSU are next in line for PAC6.4 points

I think we might see it this year. Army's schedule is very easy and has a good chance being 8-0 coming to Denton. If we can get there with a 6-2 record the crowd will be massive.4 points

Well, he is Johnny Quinn. I would guess every other program in America gives out free tickets to people they are honoring at halftime.4 points

3-1 is 3-1 no matter who you play. They don't put asterisks next to the wins. North Texas football hasn't won a trophy in a while -- since 2014 - jan-1st. I want a league title, and/or a bowl game win. This is a means to an end but I can enjoy the journey along the way. @UNT 90 Grad all our wives look a little better this morning 😉4 points

PC is a miracle worker as RB coach. All three of these guys looked great. I'll post their bios.....if you haven't ever read them. Kiefer Sibley #21....my fave play of the whole game....was his block that sprung DT Sheffield on that long TD run. You seldom see a non OL guy....pancake someone. I mentioned Sibley's high school stats earlier this year. You'll be blown away....if you've never read his bio. https://meangreensports.com/sports/football/roster/kiefer-sibley/66134 points

We may have found the silver lining in the humiliating loss to Tech. Sometimes an old-fashioned ass whoop'n is what's needed to humble someone and inspire change.4 points

NIL is a huge topic of conversation at my house, from the forming of light the tower, to the transition of light the tower to linkU, to the formation of Mean Green Collective, to now personal stuff we are doing to support. NIL looks nothing like it did 3 years ago, and as I sit here right now it will look nothing like it does today a year from now. The way that it is and will be administered is so fluid that you never really know what the rules are. In the beginning the big schools just did whatever they wanted, and schools like us (donors and supporters) tried desperately to follow the rules. In the end the rules just shifted to what the big schools (cheating in the beginning) were doing. Bottom line is this. We all need to participate in any way we can with NIL to stay competitive. With this revenue sharing thing that is on the senate floor as we speak coming in January, no one really knows what next year will bring. I don't like these one year "contracts" with the players. It's just awful. Nobody wants to throw money at something knowing there is basically zero chance of that thing staying around. But that is what is in front of us right now. I have to think that at some point we will get back to a model of at least 2 seasons and maybe the sit out "redshirt" thing again if transfer. We will see. As of now, I am supporting NIL any way I can. I will be putting a team in the tournament and I encourage some of you to do the same.4 points
