  1. He is big and physical but…. He may throw a five yd out 10 feet over the receivers head and possibly kill one of your fans in the stands because he has as much touch as a 15 year old boy with his first handful of titty. Not an exaggeration either😢

  2. I am over 65 and I do not understand this issue with walking across a bridge. Is it really that hard for someone 45+ years younger than me to walk a mile? I have been to games in Austin, College Station, Norman, Boulder, and many other locations and had to walk much farther than the distance from the old Fouts lot or the Dorms for that matter to attend football games in 90+ Weather on many occasions.

  3. Another DJ? DJ ADHD would never approve. He doesn't want any competition when he is playing 5 different songs in 10 seconds. He doesn't even want to let the band play.

  6. You beat me to it. I was going to say almost the same thing. I've been to games in Austin and College Station over the years and walked long distances to those stadiums. Especially the TAMU games. These young students at UNT should have no problem walking to DATCU stadium. Putting a winning team on the field makes the walk even easier.

  7. We received $1.13M in conference distributions our first year in the AAC. Half of the conference members received multiples of that number. How long does that go on? It puts us at an untenable competitive disadvantage. Was that the best we could have done? Don't know. Team travel went from $2.898M to $4.329M, an increase of $1.431M. I doubt travel to the west is materially different than travel to the east, so this number is already baked in. We paid $1.404M in severence in order to hire Morris. If Morris was the one we really wanted, tell me he would not have been around this year or next year or the year after. Was he some super hot commodity that multiple schools were bidding on and going to beat us to the punch? Was he really worth that premium? I don't think so. Bad (and costly) decision by our AD, but fortunately this expense goes away this year. We pay almost as much for the AD and Support staff $8.432M as we do in coaches salaries $9.223M (a difference of only $791K). Add in $4.083M of Admin Overhead (wink, wink) and we're up to $12.515M for the AD and Support staff. There is plenty of money in the AD's budget, we just have a poorly managed Athletic Department.

  8. We've come a long way as an athletic school since we were in the Sun Belt, and a lot of that can be attributed to being in increasingly better conferences. Without the conference moves, we'd be in a very different position. The repeated call to move from existing conferences to new ones is that new ones have always provided new opportunities and additional upside. If you're playing to win the game, you do everything you can to put yourself in the best position to succeed. So, yes, we'll continue to pressure the school administration to get us into the best conference possible.

  13. Fouts was too far for people when I lived in Maple Street Hall. I just think football is not ingrained into the brains of many people who attend UNT, at least not in the way that some might even cheer for the Rangers or the Cowboys or Mavericks.

  14. I know you guys think of yourselves as rich and can afford all this but let's be clear, UTSA is super poor and they will be a big liability on budget and they can hardly pay their travel bills as is. Hell they can't even fire their shitty men's basketball coach because they can't afford to. Them signing up for all this additional travel is ludicrous. That is the ONLY reason their name is coming up out there.

  15. I don't know that UNT understands that they are in the entertainment business , and I'm not referring to the athletic product on the field or in the gym. Our student body does not embrace our sports enough to attend games so we need to provide them another reason to show up, such as before or after game concerts, etc. I am not in the entertainment business either but I would think someone attuned to students interests could put together events that would increase their participation.

  16. Our students do pretty much have their own entrance, restrooms, and concessions. Plus the hill is mostly students, so there’s a “landing” welcoming students to the game. Our students have it pretty easy compared to a lot of the country. Our issue has been finding reasons for them to come to games.

  17. If Memphis, Tulane, and UTSA go to the PAC, and we don’t, it’ll be a colossal fumble for our school and AD.

  18. The extra revenue should ease the travel concerns, but everything else I agree with. Unfortunately, in the current landscape, it doesn't even have to make sense. UTSA must have god tier PR folks because their name pops up into these conservations by casuals without a second thought. Their facilities are atrocious, they have no real college game day experience in either football (off-campus aging facility), or basketball (high school gym). Their ratings aren't any better than ours and neither is their attendance. You can be sure as shit that once they start losing again, and they will, the alamo dome will go back to feeling like a dystopian nightmare. Part of me hopes they move to be honest, they will be the doormat of their conference for years to come if they have to compete with programs with much larger budgets and resources.

  19. I think it's important to remember that 50 percent of students that attend college football games across the country are there for the entertainment and social reasons, not the football... This is tough at a school like UNT due to the "commuteristic" nature that already exists at the school. Theoretically, winning/losing has less of an overall impact than I believe some people believe it has. This is why schools like Nebraska, East Carolina, and Colorado State don't struggle as much with attendance even when their football has been ass throughout the past decade. So in conclusion, the key to getting students in the game isn't necessarily through location OR product. Instead, UNT needs to continue comprehensively improving the social aspects of student life at UNT. THAT breeds school pride, which in return breeds butts in seats.

  22. Come on Keller and Mosley…make it happen for UNT alongside UTSA! UNT, UTSA, Memphis, Tulane, and Colorado State in the eastern pod of the PAC. How can you not want that?

  23. When we were in the Sun Belt we were hardly ever on TV, Fouts was crumbling, and the conference revenue distribution was so sad it was comical. When we were in CUSA, the top-tier teams left, Judy ran the bus into the ditch, revenues fell dramatically, and our games were on Facebook, beIN sports, and sometimes ESPN+ with amateurs running the broadcast. And now we're in the AAC... with the top-tier teams leaving again, the next media deal estimated to be lower than it is now, and an opportunity to join a storied 100+ year PAC 12 conference that want's to be the best of the rest. We should not apologize for demanding more from our school's administration and coaches.

  27. Of course people care about starting 3-1. That makes a winning season highly probable. Beat Wyoming and that likely guarantees another 23K+ crowd for Tulsa. Win that to get to 4-1 and Tech starts feeling like a bad dream.

  29. In most jobs, imagine what that would be like. Imagine being allowed to fvck up for 5 years with full pay before being fired. And even then you still get at least some of your salary to basically go away. Imagine the uproar in my line of work.

  30. What exactly makes these two elite? They've each won 1 conference championship in the past ten years (same as Temple). Prior to the last couple of years, Tulane was very average in football and was 2-10 in 2021. Memphis has been the more consistent, but I'm not sure either is elite.

  33. Like I've said from the get-go. Hitch your wagon with UTSA and Tulane. DFW is a massive market (bigger than SA and NOLA combined). Pitch the market and the need for travel partners. Gotta make it happen.

  38. I understand long term, guaranteed contracts for highly sought after coaches with a track record of success at the FBS level. I do, that's the only way to bring in someone with skins on the wall. However, I don't see why we have to guarantee money to first time (FBS) coaches and coordinators for 5 years. Imagine getting that kind of runway at your job. You can douchebag up for FIVE YEARS, with pay, before suffering any consequences. Is there any precedent for writing in clauses that give the university the option to terminate if certain metrics aren't satisfied? Like you need to get 6 wins by year 2, 8 by year 3, etc? We are in a new era of college football. At a school like UNT, you are going to lose half your roster each year no matter what, the continuity and 4 year development cycles are over. Its no longer an excuse to say "I need to get my guys in here", that just isn't an issue anymore.

  39. Caponi has been our DC for 15 games. Even after wins, the concern has been there.
    2 points
  40. Caponi needs to go. He had the worst defense in the country last year. He gives up position coaching so that he can concentrate on being the DC and we are still bad. Yes, we beat USA, but it wasn't because the defense stopped them. They had more yards on offense than we did. We beat them because of their special teams mistake and our offense. This defense has not improved. We beat SFA only because the offense was more methodical and didn't put our defense out there as much. We have seen enough after 15 games and he is not it.

  41. It is a season plus of being the worst defense in the country.
