  1. Of course people care about starting 3-1. That makes a winning season highly probable. Beat Wyoming and that likely guarantees another 23K+ crowd for Tulsa. Win that to get to 4-1 and Tech starts feeling like a bad dream.

  2. Lol no I think Tech was motivated by almost losing to ACU and getting their doors blown off by Washington State.

  3. Be gentle and use lots of lube please. This Wyoming team is way underperforming and lost right now. I was excited to start the season but we are in big trouble with this staff.

  4. Welcome, much respect to the Cowboys. They have always been a solid team throughout the years. They are the type of team we should be scheduling home and homes with. Hoping for a good game (with a Mean Green victory of course) and that everyone stays healthy. Cheers.

  5. Not to dampen the enthusiasm, but if it's possible, this team (Wyoming) is probably worse on offense than we are on defense. Through 3 games Points per game - 11.3 Passing yards per game - 115 Rushing yards per game - 87 So please, if we do not hold them to less than 225 yards and 14 points, don't start with the "oh, the defense is stepping up" or "wow, Morris and Caponi might be turning it around".

  6. I have had some time to settle after that Tech loss and this game is one of the next 3 that are very winnable. Tulsa and FAU are not teams that are playing that well either. That means you can go into Memphis 4-1, where Memphis is THE team to beat in our conference. They could be undefeated and dare I say ranked at that point. IF and that's the most massive IF ever, these things unfold and we beat Memphis, we play a lesser team in Tulane at DATCU. That could be the sellout, once again, IF these things play out.

  9. If that's the dollar figure then Memphis/Tulane are as good as gone. I don't know that what is being cited is accurate but even if its close you have to do it. I still think the PAC needs four more schools. UNLV, UNT, UTSA, and USF. Make it happen.

  10. The North Texas defense is more than capable of making bad teams look good. I’m not expecting an easy win. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is another high scoring game.

  11. How many of these poor kids went to camps and put together highlight videos to send to coaches hoping to be offered a chance to be so completely taken advantage of? And then, they celebrate in February when they sign the Letter of Intent with the school that is going to force them to play football. They wear the colleges shirts and caps and take photos with friends and family. All to celebrate being forced into unpaid labor. It’s very strange. Even more strange are the players known as “walk-ons.” They beg for the opportunity to have a chance to be on the team, even without getting the middling scholarship to play. Why do they do it?

  12. We will win this game, as Wyoming is really, really bad. And it will be hot and humid here, which will help us. But the damages done from getting boat raced by a school that we got embarrassed by will last all season. Attendance will still not get anywhere close to the 30k mark…again

  15. I'm on the same train of thought as you. Yesterday I posted that UNT and UTSA are better as a package deal, than standalone additions to the PAC. I never thought I'd find myself agreeing with an SMU fan but here we are...

  16. Luckily we didn't have "North Texas" on the side of our helmets; otherwise, those 138k viewers might have realized who TT was taking to the woodshed.

  17. If true and somehow UTSA ends up in the new PAC and we do not, then everyone in a leadership role or within 50 feet of someone in a leadership role at UNT should be fired.

  18. B/c as it stands now (with only 6) they are on par with the AAC from a brand perspective. Securing the four MWC programs tells me they are working behind the scenes with a media partner. Yesterday it floats that the PAC is looking to secure a deal in the $15m per school range. That is absolutely a leak to motivate Memphis/Tulane. If the money makes sense and they snag Memphis/Tulane its game/set/match. PAC is the clear cut power among the G5.

  19. Who cares if it’s a sellout. Sounds like there will be a great crowd on hand to see us start 3-1.

  20. What exactly makes these two elite? They've each won 1 conference championship in the past ten years (same as Temple). Prior to the last couple of years, Tulane was very average in football and was 2-10 in 2021. Memphis has been the more consistent, but I'm not sure either is elite.

  21. With our partial shares we are already competing on an uneven playing field with respect to our conference mates let alone the rest of college football. If certain members (Memphis, USF, take your pick) are able to extract additional concessions from the conference and we're still in it, then it will be a disaster for UNT continuing to play at a built-in disadvantage vis-a-vis the "chosen ones" for the foreseeable future. It won't make the AAC stronger. It may make Memphis stronger until they bolt at the next opportunity if it's not the new PAC.

  22. I listened to a pac expansion show this morning and they think it’s Tulane and utsa. They are not high on Memphis coming, perhaps they get vibes from Memphis uncertainty. They feel south Florida is too far east. Curiously they seem to decide on these programs for football success, investment in facilities and going to bowl games. They even mentioned academics as a detriment to Memphis and say that’s why Tulane should get the nod. Well San Antonio has okay facilities and has won one bowl game. If they take Tulane and UTSA let them go out west with no natural rivals. Bottom line is that they never mention UNT or Rice as options though these markets are rich. They don’t understand our investment which mirrors what CSU has done without the football success to follow like the Rams. Memphis is the key. If Pernetti keeps the Tigers in the AAC along with South Florida lures AF and replaces Texas State if the runners leave, I’m good with us here. Five years until the ACC blows up is nothing in master time frames. Memphis and Tulane would do well to stay put invest, plot their move to the Atlantic Coast. Smu fan says the academics are a deal breaker for Memphis. The ACC is going to need recognized successful brands. Memphis if they stay the course will compete for a spot. At a minimum they enter the Big 12. This Clemson FSU situation actually helps the AAC. Now go get AF UNLV Nevada and La Tech if Tulane shifts west. Tulane and San Antonio are the most wobbly to me. 23. No. I don’t understand the travel cost concerns of UNT going to the PAC when we’re centrally located and already traveling out to the north east.

  25. Why not? Rumors suggest that the PAC is on pace to assemble the “best of the rest” conference. Why not get your foot in the door and at least explore it as a serious possibility?

  27. We based upon our recent pounding by TT perhaps UNT should reduce its " talent fee " by 10%.

  28. Agreed. I don’t think most casual fans are going to analyze the Tech score/game like most people on here. 3-1 sounds pretty good to the casual fan though.

  34. The roster in general. I know I haven’t paid the closest attention this season (bc I have so little faith in Morris to succeed and NIL) but the amount of names that are not familiar in that roster is concerning. Down to fourth and fifth string RBs, injuries all along the line, suspended DBs, and no kicker worth a damn. Two true freshmen backup QBs (to a fragile guy) and apparently an INT machine of a starter leaves no real threat of benching Morris if this string of turnovers continues. It’s a bit of a mess.

  37. It's literally the top MWC programs with 2 pretty good former P5 programs and is about to have the top AAC programs. How is it an opinion that it will the best G5 program? If you take the best programs from 2 conferences, it's not crazy to say you've severely devalued those conferences and are now better than them. Actually seems pretty logical.

  39. What we're all hoping to see is a prepared team that comes out with poise and focus. Start fast, and take out any/all frustrations from last weekend on this poor Wyoming team. I really don't think this is out of the realm of possibility if the players have any shred of competitive fire and belief in their team. What I'm worried we see is a Wyoming team coming in and punching us in the mouth early due to some defensive mistake, and watching our guys fold again. I'm leaning towards the first scenario, but no one can blame any of us fans for holding our breaths in anticipation of the second scenario.

  41. Our running backs have gone from being a major strength to a glaring weakness from the past few years until now. As much as I like Harris and hoped for his success, I felt like there were a couple of times on Saturday that a quick, speedy back (such as Evans) could have had long runs when Harris was limited to 5-10 yard gains. I know it was against backups, but I like what I saw of Porter on Saturday.

  43. I don’t want to get the thread off topic, but this post made me think: “Did we give Tech motivation to beat us with the ‘Sellout vs Wyoming’ campaign?” The unstated assumption was obviously that we would be coming off a win at Tech and be 3-0. I can see that causing a Big 12 team to have a little more focus and have a little more desire to win than normal against an AAC team.

  44. No one cares about 3-1 when you get your lips beat off your face on national TV by the only team your fans care about up to this point. As likely as 3-1 is, and 3-1 is nice, there's an emptiness to it.

  45. Nobody is forcing these young men to play. They know and accept the risks and are doing it for far more than the "enjoyment of middle aged men". Let's allow the NIL to work as intended and not just pay kids to be on the roster.
