  1. GMG OldHeads - "the AD needs to do something to better engage the students" AD - engages the students GMG OldHeads - "gosh, can they turn that hippity hop bebob down? what's wrong with some Lee Greenwood?"

  2. Why does the dj music have to so loud? It should be background noise not the main event. Why do we even have a band at the game? The non stop DJ music doesn't give them much time to play. The marching band is part of the game day experience. I have heard the volume of the music by the DJ less at a night club. It makes it hard to talk to the people around you which part of the reason I attend the game in person. I know the young people like the music but it could be turn down a few decibels. I got to the game early and it was not bad but about 15 minutes before Kick off up went the volume. I like to hear the ref make the calls so I know what is going on the field. How about some replays on calls that are being reviewed on the field.. I know I am welcomed to DATCU stadium for the game of SFA against UNT. Yes, I will enjoy a coke but please show some replays on the big screen. Now get off my yard,

  3. I get the idea, but I think it’s better that we just focus on our own current players. Big game this week! GMG!

  4. How much is a great role on the football team at the University of North Texas worth? You have to factor that in before you leave for more NIL. You are dumb if you just compare dollars to dollars. We had a packed house in a beautiful stadium last night in one of the best areas to live in the country. If money could buy me an opportunity to be a starting football player on that Mean Green team, I would pay a lot of it for that chance. There are a lot of big plays available here. Somebody is going to make them and that experience is pretty valuable.

  5. Also, I hope we have an analytics department that meets with the team towards the end of the season that gets ahead of the transfer portal as much as possible. Show the team some stats from UNT players transferring to the P4 during the transfer portal era (sample size is large enough now) that saw their playing time on average decrease X and their receptions/carries/yards/touchdowns, etc. decrease Y, etc, etc. Now, everyone who transfers believes that they will be the exception to that. But, that is also what every one of those transfers whose production plummeted thought too. The statistics indicate overwhelmingly that players who leave UNT for the P4 don’t fare well. New team, new role, new coach, new teammates, new scheme, new conference, new opponents, new city, new school… there are a lot of variables that can impact your production. Is the money really worth the risk?

  7. that's the problem...the green brigade should not sound FINE. they should sound amazing, should be in sync, perfectly timed, musically elevated from any other marching band. the drumline doesn't hit together, they are off. they were off last year. they also don't look good, lines not straight, angles off. hell, can't even wear uniforms on an 85 degree day. damn.

  8. The only thing is Idaho played a relatively close game with Oregon and beat Wyoming. I think Idaho could be a sleeper good program and Wyoming will give us a test in Denton. But first let’s get them wrecked. GMG

  9. To the point of @Matt from A700, who is paying for these guys to come in and produce nothing? Is it guaranteed type deals or are they being lured by contingency fees that they are not triggering? Hard to believe the people funding/in charge of these NIL collectives are just comfortable with paying big dollar figures to bring in bench warmers as a regular course of business expenditure.

  10. Early in my coaching career, I went home upset because we won ugly in week 2. We lost the next 7 games. I learned then to appreciate any win, even the ugly ones. It is hard to win. Those kids on the other side are on scholarship too. Those coaches aren't stupid. Enjoy every win. Ugly wins are still wins.

  11. Our group is now up to 55 tickets bought for the game next weekend with some tickets around us to add to our blocks. If anyone still needs tickets, let us know. We're in Sections 117 ($37.50) and 122 ($27.50).

  18. Rice, Tulsa and UTSA are among more than a half dozen other schools that offered Thomas a scholarship. He averaged 10.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game last season for a loaded Allen team. (info from Brett Vito at the D-RC) Our first commit for the '25 class. Solid start by our staff.

  20. I love it. That kid wearing the “Leader” shirt looked up front first row. Do we have select “yell leaders” that charge up the group? If so, that is outstanding. Very similar to Capos that juice up supporters groups in soccer. I was impressed to see the hill pretty much empty when I rolled up shortly after the game started. Great job Maniacs! GMG

  22. The bubble's got to burst eventually. Players are going to realize more often than not the next situation isn't much better. If not that, the money has to run dry. The wealthy alumni and businesspeople funding these huge NIL collectives didn't make all their money by making bad decisions. Eventually the interest in paying benchwarmers won't be there anymore. With how much money the NCAA makes, and how much time the players put into their sports throughout the year, I am fine with with the NCAA paying the players some sort of universal salary and them doing whatever local business deals that want to do. I wish the most we had to worry about was still who had the nicest locker room.

  27. Again, big IF…but if we manage to pull one out in Lubbock…we come back to DATCU to a crowd of 29k+ on the 21st against Wyoming (Wyoming, by the way, just lost to Idaho)

  29. It’s always been slow for me. I used to think it ironic that a stadium named for an internet provider would be so s-l-o-w.

  30. I think people need to understand that the AD doesn’t make decisions based on the 1% of us crazies that eat and breathe UNT. They try to engage the other 99%.

  31. I only tried a few times but it was reasonably responsive compared to previous years. It was most embarrassing when our stadium was sponsored by a company that provide networking services for college campuses. Obviously, they had nothing to do with the existing cell service provided by the networks, but they should have been able to stand up a local system to expand Wi-Fi service at the stadium but then, that costs money too. Seems like it should have been negotiated into part of the naming contract.

  32. Say what you want... but even if UTSA was overrated, the Bobcats smacked them... they're on a four game win streak and they will have their mettle tested this weekend this Thursday when the Sun Devils roll into town, i'll definitely be watching

  33. You should be able to send it to the AD with a note written on it to request it be forwarded on to him. They should be able to gather them up and deliver them. Of course that requires having a department filled with competent people. I hope that is the case, but history shows that it is not a guarantee. It's a good idea and I encourage you to follow through. I'm trying to motivate myself to follow through on this as well. Something about this injury hit me harder than a lot of other (even worse) ones I've seen. I've got personal reasons that I think may be at play here.

  38. Keeping up the Dolphins boxscore........JWil wasn't getting any carries. But the Dolphins' other RBs (Mostert and Archane)...were not running for much yardage at all. So it looks like JWil....finally got some totes. Ended up being their leading rusher.....with 26 yards ....on 5 carries.

  41. I sold and distributed orthopaedic implants for 30 years, and compound fractures are especially bad, especially to the lower leg. One of the major concerns is infection, because normally this type of traumatic injury is "dirty" . Another is blood flow to the affected area, which if disrupted could make healing the wound and obtaining union with the fragmented bones problematic. He needs all the prayers we can muster.
