  1. I said I was from Arkansas. I am lucky to be able to read and right.

  2. Look at Texas State, hired the Incarnate word coach, there two years, went to the FCS playoffs, Brought in 56 new transfers and turned the Texas State team completely around to a 9-4 team…won their bowl game with Rice in Dallas (SMU stadium) to a full house…we probably interview their coach, but chose Morris, our mistake! Morris better produce this season or else!

  3. Love me some Chico. That guy wanted the permanent gig so bad and was 100 percent committed while he was here, all the way to the alma mater at the end. Longtime Mean Green fans have something in common with him, because we should also be committed.

  4. How sad is it that 2 years ago we were in the CUSA championship game with 7 wins and now we are just wishing for 6 so we can be bowl eligible again? We fired a guy who hit that mark in 4 out of his 7 seasons here including his last 2 seasons. If 6 is acceptable then I am disgusted with this program because the whole reason for firing Littrell was to bring in someone that could do better, not the same or worse. I barely know anyone on this roster and I am not impressed with our coaching staff outside of Patrick who was a holdover from the last staff. I have never been less enthusiastic about the start of a Mean Green season.

  5. Or it's a 15 minute drive (or 25 minutes if you're extreme southern Carrollton) to the Frisco watch party, which isn't bad at all. Limited traffic on Saturdays....

  6. He didn’t start on day one for us, either. He’s a gamer. He’ll be the starter by the end of the season. Would have liked to see how good he could have been in year 2 for us. Wish him well.

  9. I think the reason people keep bringing up Littrell is because during the week of September 22-29, 2018, a very very high number of Mean Green faithful believed we had truly turned that corner. Starting the year 4-0, including beating Arkansas on the road (I don't care how bad Arkansas turned out to be that season), after going 9-4 the previous season. That week was probably the high water mark of Mean Green football from my viewpoint (and I was around for the Dickey years). I never felt more confident in where NT football was headed than that week.

  12. Honestly I think it’s this simple. He either looks like a genius for riding with Caponi in year 2 if the 3-3-5 works with new personnel and we all come on here and happily eat crow, OR he digs his own grave if the defense amounts to anything resembling last year. I hated everything about the 2023 defense.

  16. DENTON – The UNT men’s basketball team has finalized a home-and-home series with Oregon State starting Nov. 25 in Denton. The Mean Green will make a return trip to OSU during the 2025-26 season at a date to be determined later. This upcoming season’s game at the Super Pit will be the first ever meeting between North Texas and the Beavers. The 2025 game in Corvallis, Oregon, will be their first trip to the Beaver State since 2013 when they played in Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament in Portland. In 2021 when North Texas upset Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, Oregon State reached the Elite Eight for the first time since 1982. Oregon State then and still are led by head coach Wayne Tinkle. UNT is entering its second season under head coach Ross Hodge. The Mean Green won 19 games last season and had victories over LSU, Memphis and SMU. They reached the second round of the National Invitation Tournament and are one of just seven teams in the country who have won a NCAA national postseason tournament game in each of the last four years. Hodge was named a finalist for the 2024 Joe B. Hall National Coach of the Year Award. He was the only rookie, first-year NCAA head coach to lead his team to either the NCAA Tournament, NIT or CBI Tournament. For more information on UNT men's basketball tickets, contact the Mean Green Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 or at ticketoffice@unt.edu. 17. LINK: https://herosports.com/fbs-college-football-recruiting-rankings-g5-cpcp/ Our recruiting among the G5 should be in at least the top 5-10 with the combination of facilities and budget. 18. Cal’s starting lineup is pretty well set for its August 31 opener against UC Davis, but Saturday’s final scrimmage may clear up some issues, including the status of third-team quarterback CJ Harris. It’s been assumed the battle for the starting quarterback spot was between third-year sophomore Fernando Mendoza, who started the final eight games for Cal last year, and sixth-year senior Chandler Rogers, who was North Texas’ starter last season. But Ohio transfer Harris has been attracting attention in preseason camp, and offensive coordinator Mike Bloesch said Friday that Harris has been “super impressive.” With that in mind Cal plans to give Harris more looks with the first-team offense against Cal’s first-team defense in Saturday’s scrimmage. link: https://www.si.com/college/cal/football/projecting-cal-s-starting-lineup-for-its-august-31-opener-01j5ed859vwk

  22. 1. cause after one season Morris didn't show ANY improvement over the former HFC. I thought the Fire/Hire was suppose to bring improvement. 2. So your happy with paying a coach to leave even though his last year was better than the present coach first year. The Idea of getting a new HFC is to improve your game. Morris may blossom this year.. 3. We keep talking about Seth because he was a .500+ coach......as he sits up in Norman as the OC of the Sooners and counts all that Mean Green Greenback. I think Seth is more happy with his present position than we are with his replacement..lol

  23. 1. I don't really see the reason for having this comparison, especially so early on for Morris lol 2. If Morris can equal Seth, or hopefully be a step ahead, I see both scenarios as a win. Seth needed to go because we became stagnant. If Morris ends up being like Seth, I still don't see an issue with letting Seth leave, because it shows we tried to improve 3. Seriously...why do we keep bringing up Seth?

  27. I wouldn’t say that he had peaked necessarily, I would say that he built a phenomenal original staff and his early success was ultimately his downfall. If he went (and remember he inherited a team that went 1-11 and got disemboweled by Portland State on homecoming) 4-8, 4-5, 5-7, 6-6, 8-5, 9-3, and 9-3 instead of 5-7, 9-3, 9-3, 4-8, 4-5, 6-6, and 7-5 that he would still be here. You may be right on the new era of recruiting but I still disagree. I think Littrell and Bennett fought well to stop tampering and hold on to players. They were able to keep one of our best linebackers ever when he had offers from the Big12 and SEC. I just don’t see what leads anyone to believe this guy is such a great coach outside of his riding Cam Ward’s coattails for a season or two.

  32. It really all just comes down to his defense. If we field the worst defense in the country again, or even in the bottom 5-10, and it costs us a winning record, then it needs to be over and we need to move on. That's not a generality, but specific to this situation at North Texas right now because of what happened last year. You cannot inherit a bowl team, immediately miss a bowl in your first season while fielding the worst defense in the country, then choose to run it back and get the same results. Morris' offense looked legit last year. Even better than Littrell. He immediately upgraded the QB talent, which is huge. But Littrell constantly fiddled with the defense when it sucked. It didn't always yield great defenses, but he changed coaches and schemes when it was obvious things weren't working. As a HC, so far, Morris is whiffing on one side of the ball. Hopefully his trust in Caponi and this scheme is paid off for all of our sakes. I don't want to watch that 2023 defense ever again.

  35. Mike is now the QB coach at Southeastern University a private christian college based out of Lakeland Florida. They open the season at Tulane this year. 38. You make some good points. I am also struggling with excitement about cheering for a bunch of strangers this season. But didn’t it seem as if Seth had peaked here and that the program was in decline under him? Plus, the rules have changed since the end of the Seth era. Morris has no chance to retain his best players like Seth got to for the majority of his tenure. I feel like Seth would have done an even worse job of recruiting and retaining talent than Morris is doing.
