  1. Since Corky Nelson left after the 1990 season, we have won at least 6 games in a season 9 times out of 33 seasons...Expecting more is setting yourself up for some severe disappointment

  2. Now that Mean Green Koolaid actually exists, this bit hits even better.

  3. The only good conference team on our schedule returning their starting QB is Memphis. If we fail to win 8 or 9 games, Morris deserves to be fired. I picked 10 simply because the schedule really is that weak. Also, the thread is in part titled "Call me crazy." If we're making crazy predictions, why not actually be a bit crazy.

  4. A head coach talking up the next opponent? When did that start? Real ground-breaking stuff here if true.

  5. Sad but apparently true for many. I have immense respect for the fans of this program because your loyalty deserves better returns.

  7. Why just 6? Expect more

  8. DENTON – The UNT men’s basketball team has finalized a home-and-home series with Oregon State starting Nov. 25 in Denton. The Mean Green will make a return trip to OSU during the 2025-26 season at a date to be determined later. This upcoming season’s game at the Super Pit will be the first ever meeting between North Texas and the Beavers. The 2025 game in Corvallis, Oregon, will be their first trip to the Beaver State since 2013 when they played in Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament in Portland. In 2021 when North Texas upset Purdue in the first round of the NCAA Tournament for the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, Oregon State reached the Elite Eight for the first time since 1982. Oregon State then and still are led by head coach Wayne Tinkle. UNT is entering its second season under head coach Ross Hodge. The Mean Green won 19 games last season and had victories over LSU, Memphis and SMU. They reached the second round of the National Invitation Tournament and are one of just seven teams in the country who have won a NCAA national postseason tournament game in each of the last four years. Hodge was named a finalist for the 2024 Joe B. Hall National Coach of the Year Award. He was the only rookie, first-year NCAA head coach to lead his team to either the NCAA Tournament, NIT or CBI Tournament. For more information on UNT men's basketball tickets, contact the Mean Green Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 or at ticketoffice@unt.edu. Fans can visit the UNT Athletics Ticket Office located at Gate 2 of DATCU Stadium between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  11. Somebody talk me off the ledge because I'm seeing 4-8. In thirty years of fandom this is the least I've ever known about a team.

  12. Who is with me?

  13. This type of response is always funny to me because the implication is that we’re somehow capping ourselves by “only” striving for 6 wins. The original “Hit 6” season we went on to win 9, which is tied for a school record, with a bowl win and received top 25 votes in the final poll. That team certainly wasn’t held back by not expecting more.

  14. Might I add......they have the sense to play Mizzou on November 4. Not on Election Night (when we're playing Evansville)

  15. 7 wins would be satisfactory. 8 wins would be good. 9+ wins would have me elated about our potential with Coach Morris. Don't talk to me about anything else.

  16. The line between 4-8 and 8-4 is very thin. I think either record is a very real possibility.

  18. Now here me out! This year's schedule with 2023 record: South Alabama: 7-6 SFA: 3-8 Texas Tech: 7-6 Wyoming: 9-4 Tulsa: 4-8 and lost QB FAU: 4-8 Memphis: 10-3, only one with consistency Tulane: 11-3 and lost QB plus other pieces and has a new coach Army: 6-6 UTSA: 9-4 and lost QB East Carolina: 2-10 Temple: 3-9 and lost QB. Only one conference mate with a winning record return the HC and QB which is Memphis. Everybody else was bad last year and/or lost their QB and/or HC. I stand by my looney statement.

  19. I expected an upgrade from what we had previously, which was a 7-win season (forget about qualifying for the CCG) and a bowl game. Heck, even another 7-win season would be somewhat sufficient since we moved to the AAC, and our schedule was slightly more difficult. I expected to thoroughly defeat a poor FIU team we had demolished the season before. So no, your hyperbole was not expected by anyone. But usually when you fire a coach, you expect the replacement to STEP FORWARD, immediately... not backward.

  25. We have enough offensive fire power that an 8-4 record this year is realistic IF we have a good defense… Based on the fact that we had the lowest ranked defense last year and didn’t bring in too many noteworthy defensive transfers in the off season…I don’t know if we’ll have a good defense. Really hope I’m wrong.

  28. It's possible we win 8 games at our ceiling, sure, but there is no dimension that exists where we get there giving up only 17.5 PPG, that I just can't wrap my head around.

  29. Plus we just lost a starting DB transfer from Mississippi for the season with knee injury.

  30. Because 6 wins would be an improvement from last year. Did you see the offensive pieces that left over the offseason? (Rogers, Maclin, Adeyi, Adaway) Did you see the leader of a historically bad defense is returning? I guess sometimes you must step backwards in order to move forward... at least, that's what we should all hope for.

  32. So who is going to win the presidential election in November? Kennedy?

  33. Jace Ruder is in his 7th season currently on our roster. John Davis just did with us last season. NCAA has become incredibly lenient. They used to require that a player missed the majority of two separate seasons before they granted one hardship waiver/medical redshirt. Now they’ll give it out after just one.

  34. I like how you completely botched where Fine came from but then flip it on GMG_Dallas and make it seem like they’re the person who did something wrong or uncouth. Football season is so back!

  36. Littrell's last season at UNT our defense was ranked 111 th . Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse it did. Much worse. I know we will be able to score but can we stop anyone? Unless we can I'm looking at a 3 to 5 game win season.

  37. I refuse to believe we don't have the pull/name/ability to schedule with the AQs you listed, as well as some other teams. We really don't have the ability to schedule LA Tech or WKU? Either of those is an easy home and home deal.

  38. I like what your drinking! But...The offense putting up the points I agree...its just that the history of our defense is well....you know....... Caponi prove me wrong this year.
