Does this board seem dead? 10-15 usual posters remain, but even visits from Harry and the moderators are few. This time of year GMG should be jumping with enthusiasm for the upcoming football, basketball, and soccer seasons. Yet, now it's mostly crickets. NT Athletics does only the minimum to remind us they still remember us, but nothing to show they actually want and need us! Has realignment, the loss of natural rivals, NIL, the NCAA, and the athletes themselves killed off the fans? Asking for a friend....6 points

Definitely. Easily the least interested I’ve been in the team since I started following them in 1997. It’s impossible to keep up with the roster changes. No continuity. Used to it was fun speculating how your returning players could be added to from the high school ranks and developed. Now it’s all just a mercenary portal grab crapshoot.6 points

With Atin's catch the other day and now this video with Floyd, I like what the social media team is doing trying to spotlight and introduce the new players. Would like to see this segment continue on with all the newbies and see how Dello's on-camera personality grows, too.6 points

DENTON – The UNT men and women’s basketball teams are hosting the inaugural Nightmare on Elm Street Basketball Tip-off on Oct. 16 at the Denton Square. The season tip-off showcase will be part of the city of Denton’s increased Halloween initiative. The event, which will feature a basketball court setup on Elm Street between Hickory and Oak Street in the Denton Square, will give Mean Green fans the opportunity to meet this year’s teams and get a preview of what will be an exciting 2024-25 season of UNT basketball. “One of our highest priorities is always going to be engaging with the Denton community and continuing to grow relationships here in our backyard,” UNT Vice President and Director of Athletics Jared Mosley said. “We are excited to be able to bring both of our basketball programs to the square in downtown Denton and partner with the city for this truly unique event this fall that we believe will bring UNT basketball to even more potential fans.” The event is free and open to the public. More information including start time is still to come. TWU’s NCAA Division II national runner-up basketball team as well as Denton ISD will also participate in the event. The Mean Green women’s basketball team is entering its second season under head coach Jason Burton. In its first season, UNT had its most successful season ever as they won a program record 23 games and a share of the American Athletic Conference regular season championship. The UNT men’s basketball team is entering the second season under head coach Ross Hodge who last year led the Mean Green to a 19-win season, which included victories over LSU, Memphis and SMU. The Mean Green reached the second round of 2024 NIT and are only one of seven teams in the country who have won a NCAA national postseason tournament game in each of the last four years. For more information on UNT men and women’s basketball tickets, contact the Mean Green Ticket Office at 940-565-2527 or at ticketoffice@unt.edu. Fans can visit the UNT Athletics Ticket Office located at Gate 2 of DATCU Stadium between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.5 points

Hey, we expect more than this from our trolls. If you guys can't play the position correctly then we suggest you hit the portal and we will get better trolls!4 points

Bingo. Don't they assume that most Mean Green faithful live and work near the employment centers of Plano, Frisco, Las Colinas, Richardson, Addison, and Downtown Dallas? It takes every bit of coordination to make 7 p.m. basketball games during the week in the winter in Denton when you don't live/work in Denton. I'd need to leave the office at 4 pm to make Bartonville by 6 pm on a weeknight.4 points

I was all excited to jump in with a snarky comment but unfortunately.... I can't. There's nothing to criticize. Legit brewery, nice can. Very disappointing.4 points

Got the email for this today. Hope to see all of you on Saturday. Does anyone know if they're doing anything (gifts???) for the season ticket holders at this event? Once upon a time, you used to get something tangible; we even got plastic hanging tix for CL! Now all I get is a text that my e-tix are ready. It feels like it might as well have been a text from Doordash telling me my $50 doordash'ed wings are sitting on the front porch.3 points

You will be sitting with Mean Green fans in our block as well, in better seats, for $10/seat less. The allotment that is passed along from the opposing home team is always for the worst sections, and while there most likely won't be anyone stopping you from moving over in Mobile, that won't be the case at our other efforts in Lubbock and San Antonio. I understand the viewpoint that our organization may compete with the ticket office for football, since it is the one sport you can buy tickets for road games through the ticket office. And if you choose to do that, no problemo with me, I just want to see a lot of green in Mobile. But I've been told by AD staff that they make crumbs off those away game tickets. And there's no push made by them to get people to buy those tickets. Hell, my sophomore year in 2015 they were bussing people to the SMU game. Last fall, not only were there no buses, but they weren't even telling people to go to the game, they were pushing the ESPN2 broadcast instead. Additionally, my big personal undertaking to recruit people to join has been through LinkedIn, where you can easily filter UNT alumni based on the market they live in. It is much harder to earn commitment to attend by reaching out to a stranger, and then directing them to a link where you have no visibility. Where I may rob the athletic department a few hundred bucks over the course of the three games by getting people to buy through our group instead of the ticket office, maybe I can make it up by enticing some of those strangers (specifically at the UTSA game) to join the alumni association and become more engaged with UNT Athletics again (or for the first time). And while the price difference won't be as dramatic for the South Alabama game ($10), I am also looking at coordinating group outings from afar for the other three games at FAU, Memphis, and Temple - I've already reached out to their ticket offices for pricing. I thought the prices passed along for the FAU and Memphis games, large stadiums that never sell out, were especially alarming - $45!! Through group pricing it'd be less than half of that! If you haven't bought your tickets yet and want to join our party, let me know!3 points

I know the product on the field is important, but the staff making the every interaction with the team a breeze is just as important.3 points

I can give a little scout from a Fairfield fan. * he should become a fan favorite/leader on the team. he plays with intensity and joy. has a knack for making big plays. * he shares the ball. doesn't turn it over. is happy to get out and run. the Stags liked to push the pace a fair amount. * his rebounding stats are not "Westbrook" stat stuffing. he anticipates well and is quick to the ball. he'll win a couple of extra possessions each game. * he's durable. will play 40 minutes, if you want. * good defender. he'll gamble for steals with mixed results. but I think overall that's a net positive. * a confident player. not afraid to take shots when he's open, but not a selfish player. some of his best games were the games he only had a handful of shot attempts. * good FT shooter. will not hurt you at the line. * he gets to the basket - but he has to work on finishing. often just a little out of control. * his 3P shooting is not a strength. the plus is he doesn't take bad shots. the negative is he doesn't make them as often as you'd like. * as I alluded to above - even though scoring wasn't the best part of his game, he seemed to come through pretty often in the clutch.3 points

I feel uncertain too. No news on the athletic center expansion. No breaking stories about anything. I want to be positive. I even pick up an additional season ticket for this year. The defense still scares the crap out of me. Until we see some improvement in an actual game, it's hard not to have concerns. But my biggest concern is if we got better mercenaries than the other teams in our conférence. I truly believe that the program that won the portal Olympics in the off-season, will win the conference and earn that first G5 playoff spot. Right now, my money is on Memphis.2 points

Best get used to it. Every season is now Schrödinger's football. New team every year. You just gotta let the fallout tell you what you're going to get after the season.2 points

Not really. I would like to see more news, media, promotions, advertising, signage. It builds momentum for fans. The dominant news block on the official Athletics site is for North Texas blond ale. Great, but does that really get fans pumped to be in the stadium for a game? https://meangreensports.com/2 points

Won't work, no tickets available. The opposing fans have taken up all the inventory.2 points

This is why you should support the school more than the individual players. I'm to the point now where I would be OK with no names on the backs of the jerseys; identify them by their numbers.2 points

New forum rule. There should be NO DISCUSSIONS about kids who commit to North Texas until they sign, suit up, and make a lifetime blood oath. They might transfer, they might flip their commitment, they might be abducted by aliens. Shame on some of you for prematurely talking about kids currently committed to North Texas on a North Texas forum.2 points

Anyone else planning on making this road trip? I will be there with one other, staying on Fort Lauderdale Beach and driving up to Boca Raton for the game. Decided the Beach+Mean Green football would make for a pretty good trip.1 point

Thank you for what you do. Grassroots organization is easy to support and feels great. Plus power groups on roadies allows for solid meetups in bars pre and post game. Good chance to meet opposing fans and start building relationships with our conference mates. GMG1 point

It's a very important game to set the early tone for the season. Much like FIU was last year but we quickly found we needed adjustments. If we can go 2-0 heading to Lubbock it would give the players and fans a lot more confidence for the rest of the season.1 point
