  1. I guess NT should limit recruiting to recruits with little potential, and hope they don't develop. I don't believe any college sport fan is not aware of NIL and it's disastrous effect on college sports. Someone stating after every commitment or signing, the dangers of losing that recruit because of NIL is not necessary. I think Jamario was a 4 star and NT has got several JUCO's with that rating, but it has been a long time.

  2. New forum rule. There should be NO DISCUSSIONS about kids who commit to North Texas until they sign, suit up, and make a lifetime blood oath. They might transfer, they might flip their commitment, they might be abducted by aliens. Shame on some of you for prematurely talking about kids currently committed to North Texas on a North Texas forum.

  4. He put it in his twitter bio but no reference to the ranking. Could be one of the in state local places that rated him as such. I don't care what star he is I really like his tape. He can MOVE

  8. I wonder if UNT offered him the chance to play WR/CB and that’s why he picked us. Maybe other schools told him to pick a position. Either way, how awesome!

  9. Hard to get recognized individually when the defense you play for gets mulched week after week.

  10. It's a very important game to set the early tone for the season. Much like FIU was last year but we quickly found we needed adjustments. If we can go 2-0 heading to Lubbock it would give the players and fans a lot more confidence for the rest of the season.

  11. What are the odds that he actually suits up for us? If he has a great senior year, the NIL cash from the big boys will increase. When they say 1000% committed, that is usually the kiss of death.

  12. I think the poor tackling we have seen over the last few years from our defense isn’t exhibit A for your assertion.

  13. I know NT played Memphis; but it was not a conference game. The discussion was about was ACC an upgrade from CUSA. The response was to the question other than Tulane, what team is an upgrade.

  15. That's a little much. Our schedule isn't exactly a murderer's row, if we field a team with a comparable offense to last year and at least an improved defense. If that's the case, there ought to be plenty of paths to 6 wins, if not 8. At this point, we really don't know which teams are going to be the toughest to beat. And every year, wins and losses pop up in unexpected places.

  16. I know its only the first game of the season, but looking at the schedule I think this is a must win game if this program wants to see a bowl game.

  19. I agree with other posters, if losing kids to NIL is all that's on your mind, keep it to yourself or rant on another one of other countless doomsday threads. We had a whole year to lose Cash McCollum and it looks like he'll be suiting up for us.

  25. It’s just a constant recruiting season. Constant and continuous. Was chatting with an OU fan and they lost Dillon Gabriel to Oregon. So it happens to all teams every level. They have serious unknowns entering the SEC. I don’t know why but I think Morris could be good at luring key talent. But his results need to show in 2024. GMG

  26. Maybe by your perspective but my point was that Rod Brown got fewer accolades with Morris’ staff against essentially the same teams on the schedule.

  27. Both teams have unknowns....at this point a toss. This needs to be a win for Morris to shut down doubters like me.

  28. ECU does have a large stadium and great crowds. But App St has great wins: 2019 beat North Carolina and South Carolina, both on the road 2020 beat UNT by 28 at the Myrtle Beach Bowl 2021 beat ECU by 14, lost at Miami by 2 2022 beat Texas A$M on the road, lost to UNC by 2 2023 beat ECU by 15, lost to UNC in 2 OT

  29. They lost their head coach, star QB, WR, and RB. So, they are a lot like us reloading. No one really knows how all these new players will mesh with each other, and for USA new playbook and system. https://collegefootballnews.com/news/south-alabama-college-football-preview-best-players-top-transfers-season-prediction-win-total-2024

  30. Yes, I was there. We had about 3 to 4 couples in the 70's that used to travel to one or two road games a year. However life happens and we all moved away from Dallas, although I returned in 1974. I had two sons under 5 and was trying to start a new business so I missed the majority of Hayden's tenure. While in S.. Louis 68/70' my wife and I drove to Rolla, Missouri and rented a motel room to watch North Texas play Tulsa on a black and white t.v. Rolla was the closest town that carried the game and I think we lost. My wife was pissed as the road trip we much longer than anticipated. The best trip, bar none, was in 1988 when my then 13 year old son and I flew with the basketball team to the NCAA Sub Regionals in Salt Lake City. The day we arrived the Mavericks were in town so we saw them play that evening at the Salt Palace. The next day we were on Utah's campus and saw the Eagles pounded by J.R. Reed and the North Carolina Tar Heels. The second game was Wyoming vs Loyola Marymont [sic] where the teams scored a combined 250 points. I still have never see a college basketball game to match it.

  31. I know there are fans who have been to more college stadiums than me, but just for fun I will share mine. Army,South Carolina,FIU,FAU,Miami,Auburn, UAB,Missouri,Purdue, I.U.,Kansas State,Ark. St., Arkansas Little Rock. Arkansas Fayetteville, ULL,UL Monroe, LSU, Tulsa, Oklahoma ,Ok. St.,Texas,TCU,SMU,Baylor,SFA,UTEP,Augustana,New Mexico,Air Force,UCLA. UTEP's stadium, the Sun Bowl, is unique as it is carved into a mountain. UCLA's stadium felt like it was about to fall down. The Auburn fans were friendly, LSU fans the most drunk, Texas the most obnoxious. Going to see us play and beat Army with my 15 year grandson was a real treat. We froze our ass off, but watching the cadets preform at halftime was a thrill. However, Fouts Field was better than their stadium. While our new stadium is not as large as some I have seen, I will put it up against just about anyone else's . We are fortunate to have such a great venue and should never take it for granite. Hopefully we will fill it before I bite the big one.

  33. you watched his tape yet? Thats a big boy that moves well. Plays RB for them and takes one 70 on his first play to the house. He can RUN. You don't have to have Giant LB's in the 3 down stuff... Football players are just that. Size aint everything. You can find a lot more Zach Orr's than you can over sized LB's who got recruited because they are 6'3 225...especially at our level. The bigger they get the higher level they go. Unless NIL is involved which we have virtually none.

  35. Certainly can't disagree with Tony Mitchell. However, he was 6-8 with very large hands. I had the pleasure of watching Charles McMillan and Wayman Lister throughout their HS (SOC), Juco (McMillian) and NTSU careers. At only 6-3/6-4, they were dunking legends in Dallas area HS history. Unfortunately, NT fans didn't see much back in the mid 70's because they were reserves on the most talented rosters (top to bottom) ever. Lister was Player of the Year in Texas and McMillian was 1st Team All State and a Juco All-American. I see that this question has been posed previously:

  36. Great leaper, only very old fans will remember. Strange thing, to my knowledge never dunked in a game. For those that don't know, the dunk was not allowed in NCAA basketball from 1967 to 1976 Leroy Winfield jumped center at 6'2" and probably had a vertical as good as Mangrum If you are talking about absolute best dunker ever at NT There is only one answer Tony Mitchell I am sure others have done this, but he is the only player I have ever seen that could dump two basketball with one jump Just jumping that high with a basketball in each hand is incredible. These threads always remind of the stupidity of former HC Tommy Newman Spud Webb had committed to NT's when coached by Bill Blakeley Blakeley was fired and Newman hired, and offer to Webb was withdrawn Webb became a star at North Carolina, and Newman went on to a 24-60 record at NT

  37. My issue is that every Nike team has the same uni. Copy/paste the template then add a logo to the collar. I liked the subtly of the previous green jerseys. Mean Green across the front with a feather design in the numbers which only really becomes notable on close ups. If the only thing that changed was the color going to Kelly Green, I would have given this an A++. Overall, they’re fine. But like you said, establish an identity and stick with it. If they’re going to stick with this color/style for a while, I’m cool with that.

  39. " tuition and fees increased almost 25% over the past five years" 😲 "why do we need to cut people?" Maybe because there's a lot of administrative bloat in colleges.
