This is exactly what it is. Every rule/policy being implemented helps the well to do programs, and we have UNT people coming on here, all drooling at the mouth and what not, agreeing with the complete destruction of collegiate athletics.7 points

Reminds me of the old days, prior to 1973, when schools like UT would have 150+ players and recruit many just to keep them away from other schools.4 points

Yes, you depend on the opponents fans to fill your stadium I guess that explains why NT fans at your stadium outnumbered SMU fans It was not support for NT, but SMU fans just had no interest in the game against such an unworthy foe. The buy a player NIL era, should greatly help SMU and it has the opposite effect on NT The ACC will be an interesting experiment, if SMU can't win; it will be a disaster. If SMU can win, it will be interesting if SMU's home attendance improves. SMU bought their way into the ACC, time will tell if it is a good investment. Frequent flyer miles should be a significant source of revenue.2 points

Rod Brown is who I am assuming you are referring to when you state "we have a defensive tackle that goes 5-11..." He has been one of our most consistent players on the DL for the past two years. We still have Vailea and added VJ Bronson from Arkansas St. and some size in the freshman class. I think the biggest change is our DE's are now true DE size.2 points

This may slightly hurt high school recruiting, but 105 guys can't get PT in a season. A year or two in, those extra 20 will be in the portal as normal when they haven't seen the field and are only getting crumbs of the NIL pie.2 points

Do you get phone calls when somebody mention your name here or what? I could get tagged and not know for days. You answered within an hour and a half so either you were notified by emergency broadcast or you were lurking.1 point

I caught that. Sounds like something that happened in the post-production, and not in-person at the conference. Regardless, it's a blunder.1 point

There is still no limit on NIL deals right? The way I understand NIL, scholarship limits are irrelevant.1 point

Certainly can't disagree with Tony Mitchell. However, he was 6-8 with very large hands. I had the pleasure of watching Charles McMillan and Wayman Lister throughout their HS (SOC), Juco (McMillian) and NTSU careers. At only 6-3/6-4, they were dunking legends in Dallas area HS history. Unfortunately, NT fans didn't see much back in the mid 70's because they were reserves on the most talented rosters (top to bottom) ever. Lister was Player of the Year in Texas and McMillian was 1st Team All State and a Juco All-American. I see that this question has been posed previously:1 point

I'll suggest it. It is ACC fans because Peruna's dumps draws more flies than a smuT football game.1 point

This leap from I-Love-Littrell into I-Do-Not-Like-Morris is noted. You're right, though: this Morris hire was very different from any hire we've done going back....ages! We didn't flip from defense to offense, or the other way around. We went from one guy in the Leach tree to another guy in the Leach tree. Continuity from one hire to the next that I have never seen in my football fandom. I get the bleakness heading into year 2. NIL. Necessary changes that were not made. I think Morris still wants to figure this out, though. He wants to get to that first BIG opportunity, similar to SL and KSU. Giving up now would be throwing in the towel before he's been knocked down. For me, personally, this is not very different from most offseason and year 2 or 3 of a recent hire. Still very much, let's see how the first couple games play out and dreaming for wins.1 point

Ever even imagine that it might take a coach more than one year to substantially upgrade a football program? How do you support your contention that Morris is less committed to the program than Littrell? One, I have never believed the Kansas offer that Littrell supposedly turned down was anymore than his agent's ploy for getting Littrell a better contract. Two, I am not sure how you can compare pre-NIL coaches with coaches that must deal with massive turnover every year. You are giving credit to the offensive line coach for Rogers' success, yet are ignoring the HC and Offensive coordinator that create the game plans that allowed Rogers to be successful. Morris may not be successful at NT, that is an unknown for most that don't have the football clairvoyance that you possess. I think Morris had an adequate first year coaching, and I am looking forward to next year. The new season will provide a much superior basis for evaluating Morris as a HC.1 point

If memory serves Ramsey went on to play for the Denver Broncos. . I was in health care sales and distribution in Dallas from 74' thru 03' and knew his wife as she was an operating room nurse at Parkland. She asked me to approach Coach Nelson about the possibility Ramsey of joining his staff. He needed a job but wanted Corky to contact him first. I passed the information on to Coach Nelson. In my world you do the calling if you need a job instead of sitting by the phone. I never heard another word about it but Ramsey never coached for us. He had a bad heart and died young.1 point

I remind you that personal attacks have no place here. I haven't put you on full ignore yet, but I will if you cannot find a way past your own hate. I'm not left or right. But, as astounding as this is to believe, I can believe the Trump administration needs to be defeated. I'm tired of all the hate, vitriol, rambling, and lack of any actual policy beyond claiming worst ever/best ever. If Republicans put up a candidate who didn't spin word salad for 90 minutes, call people childish names, and continually claim he was the greatest thing since Abraham Lincoln... then I would take a good look at them. I refuse to accept hate in America. I refuse to hate others. But I can ignore them. That's your choice if that's who you want to be. We need unity more than ever. And goddamned do we need football back. This political stuff is getting tiring. We finally have a chance for real change. Toss out the old and start fresh. I WANT that. We NEED that.1 point

You guys can hate Biden all you want (I am not a huge fan either) but please take a minute to understand this 81 year old just served 4 years in the worst, most difficult job in the country. His ability to withdraw is noble, and I wish him a peaceful remainder of his life. Politics aside.1 point

Want fans. Make the games an event that can’t be misssd. Market them over and over and when you don’t think you have marketed them enough, market them some more. Students must realize these are the 6 or 7 weekends out of the year they can’t go home. Incentivize them to attend and then win the damn games. You have to make it the place to be. Partner with Denton. We are Denton’s team. Make the locals want to come. Again, a family event. Market the games like there is no tomorrow. I am sorry, but our AD has never put forth effort.1 point

Another way is maybe stop recruiting so many Liberal Arts majors. Not to offend anyone, but you do not find too many sports fans amongst Art, Music, Dance etc. majors. Also, maybe we should get away from all these commercials that scream nerd and we want people with no drive. Maybe add in a little more sports clips with the students having fun at all sporting events. All this is just my opinion.1 point

AScott was great for us defensively, I’m not denying that. However, my issue with him was offensively. We needed him to really step up, but that just wasn’t in his bag. I also thought he went up soft down low. Just my 2 cents1 point

Aaron was great when he was in a defined role: attack close-outs, catch-and-shoot, and backdoor cuts to go with his hustle points. When we asked him to go one-on-one and expand his game, he struggled. Scott was a winner though, and made some huge plays in huge moments (thinking about Vegas) and if Newell can live up to that, we can have that discussion. In the limited looks we have of Newell, we see he is a little more smooth with the ball. I imagine we will ask him to do the defined-role type stuff but if he looks like he can create his own looks then why not? All that will be evident in summer and fall though.1 point
