Take a 10 minute trip down all his social posts for the past 8 years. The guy doesn't exactly inspire unity. It's all childish name calling, absolutes, and worst ever/best ever anything. It's like watching a 5 year old argue at recess. It's embarrassing.6 points

I know you won't go listen to today's The Daily...because, ya know, NY Slimes and all...but they do go into how the Secret Service coordinates with local authorities to execute these kind of events. the building he shot from was considered outside the perimeter of the event, and thusly considered a part of local jurisdiction...the parallel drawn on the podcast is how the SS will diagram traffic flow, but the local police will work the streets themselves.5 points

I think he said there were some not all. That is part of the issue, each side takes everything anyone says the worst way. I think that happens on both sides. I think we have a lot more in common than people realize. The far left and right want us to battle all the time it seems to me. I am moderate.4 points

Still trying to determine how "Make America Great Again" inspired hate. It was a result of Obama and the Dems not being happy with America exceptionalism, period.4 points

But we shall all ignore Biden's blatant racism, right? Called Obama the first articulate, clean, and educated black man he's come across. Told the senate chambers that his children will not be exposed to a racial jungle in the school system. When conversing about school resources he referenced poor kids as minorities/black kids. Of course the statement if you don't vote for me you ain't black, etc. Hispanics are afraid of the covid shot because they don't want to get deported. This is just off the top. Yada, yada, words hurt. Spare meeeeeeee... the bullshit.3 points

Dude called immigrants rapists and animals. Said a judge of hispanic heritage ruled against him because he's mexican. Can't even run a charity in New York because he stole from it. It's funny when conservatives just play dumb and go "dur it's just some mean tweets", as if there's not miles of evidence of how he only lives for enriching himself and stiffing others. Rudy Guiliani represented Trump legally. Trump stiffed him. Rudy begged for his money. Trump held a fundraiser for him. Rudy didn't get enough to cove his bills, nevermind his defamation suit, so he started a PAC and has donations in the 4 digits.3 points

Dude go call a grown man boy on the sidewalk downtown and lemme know what happens. And yet you have no counter to me showing you a Republican Governor who was in the klan! Republicans loved the klan just as much in the midwest and northwest. Your history class must have only included the south I guess.3 points

Come on man. You don't boil politics to such caricatures. Not everyone believes the totality of the parties policies. Attack the policy not the people. Otherwise this isn't helping either side rather than perpetuating more hate. Hate Trump, hate biden, or hate a policy. But breakdowns like this are why we end up with shooters. I'm not blind to the fact that Maga inspired all this hate. Don't be trump3 points

And you're in a cult. I was perfectly respectful until a racist insult was hurled my way.3 points

He said he admired Ann Coulter immediately after she said she wouldn't vote for him because he was of Indian heritage. He also just said that Trump survived through God's intervention....I guess god must have pushed it into an innocent bystander by that logic.3 points

I don't hate anyone. Keep your beliefs. They're yours to have. But just because the msm propaganda machine fills the void of informer, doesn't make them factual. They are not. I just find it difficult to see the hate, vitriol, etc that Trump allegedly spews. I know I hear it from the media. They dance daily on him with those words. But where are those actions? As for me, I will be my own judge. I do not need anyone to tell me what to think or how to feel. As for the criminal mischief... find me a company CEO that oversees books, let alone a president3 points

Division/unity seems to be off the radar for both sides. We are, unfortunately, in political times where neither side is interested in sitting at the table with the other and coming up with compromises that we can both agree on. Not that we don't like that idea. But we (are conditioned to?) believe that the only way to get what we want is to bully the other side off the table. How can we get to a place where unity is a priority again? It won't be with Trump or Biden. I don't think I'll vote for him, but I enjoy the way Vivek Ramaswamy presents himself. Would love to hear what others think of him.3 points

Yeah.... a threat to our democracy. Lol... while they are currently trying to sway delegates away from Biden at the DNC convention... but Trump is the threat to democracy. It writes itself.3 points

Yes, since the 1960's Denton has been hippie-centric. Very similar to the culture and attendance issues at Cal/Berkeley: Slight-Ad-9029 •8mo ago "If we are honest it’s just the modern day student body. Most people I met here do not really care about sports and if they do it’s very surface level nba or nfl. The student body in general truly could not care any less" Also, the Denton town fathers/council didn't/don't want to promote UNT sports over fear it would somehow diminish TWU. If we could be like Jerry Jones, we would move the school to another DFW town that would value us....2 points

This is a false statement. That's like saying UT-Austin is a commuter school because most students commute from somewhere off campus, but in Austin. UNT gets a lot of students that reside in DFW, just because it's close. But UNT has a huge residential dorm community on campus and a ton of apartments and houses close to campus. It's not a commuter school at all like UTA, with little to no dorms on campus.2 points

The party with openly white supremacists and christian nationalists in congress says we're not the tolerant ones. It's like living in the twilight zone since 2015. Conservatives threw away any principles they had so they could follow the most unchristian man and the biggest megalomaniac over the cliff, so long as he pissed off liberals. My mom has a trans daughter and put up a pic of bloody trump with his fist pump as her facebook page yesterday. Hope she remembers that when republicans send her child off to a camp next year.2 points

But interestingly enough everyone I talk to who has transferred from another university to finish at UNT or completes an advanced degree totally loves UNT. They love the school, their program, Denton…but they don’t start there so they lack the indoctrination. We also need to create a better Gameday culture for football and basketball and these teams need to be marketed to the region, not UNT students. There simply aren’t enough interested. But a dad with a little sports girl in Corinth might totally be wooed to a soccer, softball or basketball game up the road. GMG2 points

No doubt that having Law and Medicine on campus would be a good boost. The school of Business has 9,000 students, and 2,012 graduates. That's not a small number. So I ask again if these majors are sure fire supporters then there should be plenty of them going to games and donating money, right? "Mattress Mack" is one of the notable UNT business alumni, does he donate to the school? The School of Business has been around for nearly 80 years, they should have plenty of donors to pull from. Like I said the School of Liberal Arts & Social Science and the School of Music only make up 27% of the graduates, you can find the numbers in the PDF I linked above. Music is small, it only graduated 362. Your last sentence is the real answer. UNT can't shake the commuter school stigma and struggles to get donations/fan support across the entire campus. It doesn't help that the FB team dropped to 2A, and outside of the run Dickey made there has been no sustained success. We have had no fan building momentum in 2 decades.2 points

Holy Crispy Christ man... so if they don't believe what you do this is all they are? You need to sleep this off. That's hate speech and will get this locked down. Want fans. Make the games an event that can’t be misssd. Market them over and over and when you don’t think you have marketed them enough, market them some more. Students must realize these are the 6 or 7 weekends out of the year they can’t go home. Incentivize them to attend and then win the damn games. You have to make it the place to be. Partner with Denton. We are Denton’s team. Make the locals want to come. Again, a family event. Market the games like there is no tomorrow. I am sorry, but our AD has never put forth effort.2 points

It seems I've hit a nerve. I don't want this discussion closed on my account so should bow out because it isn't worth arguing with internet strangers who have already closed their eyes and walked blind. I hope I'm wrong. I'd be curious for you to elaborate on this. beyond actually managing to implement a very mediocre and watered down version of a national healthcare plan, it feels the left (as very left-leaning, especially socially) it has felt like our leaders have actually done very little to implement the far more progressive ideas. meanwhile, a 30 year orchestrated effort by power-brokers on the right (I suppose not entirely actual elected officials) have effectively remade the court system and given an inordinate amount of power to 6 unelected conservatives.2 points

Wow 400ft away in one of only like 3 possible places a shooter could perch. There's even eyewitnesses that say they alerted law enforcement to the shooter scaling the building with a gun 4-5 minutes before it happened. Huge secret service oversight here.2 points

One person is not a hate group. The unfortunate side effect of one dumbass persons choice is now we have to live under a vengeful dictator for 4 years. I'm not right or left, but this just spiraled an already horrible situation into a much worse place. I'm actually fearful to be American now.2 points

This is a North Texas fan site, discussing another university in the DFW area and somehow a supporter from the University of Houston not only reads the entire post, but feels the need to comment. I looked at the Houston fan site and at Ponyfans and I saw no evidence of North Texas’s lurkers there. But GOMEANGREEN posts virtually anything and our bored friends from Dallas and Houston think they need to contribute.2 points

Dan McCarney, when he first got here, was the closest thing we have had to being a salesman as Hayden Fry was. HE believed that this place was going to be huge, as we were opening a new stadium, preparing to go to CUSA in a few years from the first edition of the SBC, and sitting in the middle of the Texas recruiting hotbed. He went on media outlets to tell everyone how exciting the future was here. He was great with TX HS coaches. He would talk to any UNT gathering he could to see the program. And that's when the Apathy Monster defeated him. DMac thought recruiting would be easy here. But he ran an antiquated offense that nobody in the state ran or wanted to run. The TX HS Coaches liked him, but they didn't like that offense and they knew the UNT Apathy better than he did. He had no idea of the decades of apathy he was fighting. He couldn't understand why people didn't show up for games in Denton. He even wondered why the HOD Bowl game in Dallas on NYD could have such a huge green crowd show up for us playing UNLV but wouldn't show up for a conference game in Denton. Eventually, the stress and his coping with it thru drinking almost killed him, as he suffered a stroke. And he was never the same after that. And neither were his teams. What Dodge had recruited was put to use in a solid way by DMac and his staff, but what they had recruited couldn't come close to replicating the same talent he had inherited, especially at the skill positions. And two years later, with the worst collection of QBs we have ever had, we hit rock bottom in the worst loss in modern college football history, that 66-7 loss at home to FCS Portland State on Homecoming. He was rightly fired immediately after the game and the rest is history. Similar to Littrell, having had some success here got him an extension, but it just meant that we had to buyout more in the end. Hoping Morris' tenure will be different, but so far, nothing has suggested we are on a different path.2 points
