We complain when the athletic department doesn’t have enough money to operate competitively then we complain when the athletic department attempts to maximize revenue to have more money to operate more competitively.5 points

Nah, that isn't what is happening. Long time fans that have *always* backed the program through thick and thin keep taking it in the nuts (or wallet). The AD needs to actually do their job and find new revenue and fans and stop bleeding their loyalist dry. Their product isn't better but the prices are increasing 100% in some cases, 50% a lot and 25% in most. I don't find it a coincidence that the "Chief Revenue Officer" found a new job after he bled the hub club dry the last two years and the yearly retention was only ~80%. So sure, maybe the short term this joker thinks it is an increase in revenue, but but they really lost the long term. People dropping from the hub are not going to the games anymore. They are not donating their yearly MGSF. They are lost revenue. So after that, they move to a new section to find the next level of people to start squeezing.4 points

I'm fine with them selling them on an individual game basis, but they should never be cheaper than what it costs me per game as a season ticket holder.4 points

No. When they fill all the other general admission and charge the regular price for premium seats then I am good with that.3 points

I completely disagree. From my experience, behavior and manners often run parallel with academic achievement. Regardless of socioeconomic and demographics. Show me a poor/middle class/wealthy kid with good behavior and manners and I'll show you a kid that probably achieves in the classroom. Show me a poor/middle class/wealthy disrespectful kid and I'll show you a grade casualty. It ALL starts at home. Money and resources don't matter.3 points

If money is the fuel, they'll be fine. Their endowment is nearly 4x SMU's.3 points

Kick Time Guarantee started last year… If there’s a game you can’t attend, you can exchange it for an extra ticket to another game. For example, let’s say you can’t make the SFA game. With Kick Time Guarantee you can exchange it for an extra ticket to the Wyoming game. It’s actually a really good deal that allows you to get the full value of your season tickets.3 points

Oddball: Why don't you knock it off with them negative waves? Why don't you dig how beautiful it is out here? Why don't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?2 points

I live next to Rice and used to attend games regularly. I used to question why they did not spend more of their massive endowment on sports. I realize now they got it right. “Big Time” college sports or the dream of getting there is now dead for almost every program. Rice focused on academics instead. Now they are the best University in Texas and also world renowned. For most schools they are neither academically or athletically special. Rice chose academics and won. What’s more, they have right-sized athletic facilities (football withstanding) that well serve their student athletes. It’s just at Rice they are students first and have to make the grade. Rice got it right2 points

My family and I have been to a couple of games at Shell Stadium where the Dynamo play. We like the new seats they have installed. Before they were just plastic fold downs. I'm glad UNT are adding these seats. My skinny butt doesn't have enough meat for those metal bleachers haha.2 points

Anyone with any insight on if he has a chance of challenging Rogers for the starting position?2 points

You're at the 45 yard line in nice seatbacks; a premium seating section. You pay $600 per seat for the season, including your MGSF per seat, or $100/seat per game. Two days before the game the Athletic Dept has a Flash Sale for unsold seats. The three seats next to you go for $15 each to drunk SFA Frat guys. You're OK with that?2 points

How could they predict any team. Half our team hasn't played together before. Probably similar to the others as well.2 points

PURCHASE SEASON TICKETS HERE RENDERINGS DENTON – The first ever general seating improvements will be made to DATCU Stadium for the 2024 Mean Green football season. Chairback seating will be installed late this summer to over 900 seats in sections 104, 105 and 106 replacing the previous bleacher seats in this first step in future stadium seating updates. The seats, which are directly behind the North Texas team bench, are being installed by DreamSeat and will feature 22-inch mesh chairbacks with a cupholder for each seat. Tickets for the 2024 UNT football season and mini-plan packages are currently available for purchase now. Season tickets for sections 104-106 cost $415. General season ticket holder benefits include priority seating locations, flexible payment plan options, a season ticket holder gift, discounts on additional single-game tickets, kick time guarantee, postseason ticket priority and the ability to resell unused tickets on SeatGeek. Additionally, single-game tickets are also now on sale. The UNT football home opener is Sept. 7 at 6:30 p.m. versus Stephen F. Austin. The Mean Green football team has six home games this year and hosts Wyoming (Sept. 21), Tulsa (Sept. 28), Tulane (Oct. 26), Army (Nov. 9) and East Carolina (Nov. 23) in addition to the SFA home opener. DATCU Stadium was opened in 2011. UNT and DATCU entered into a long-term naming rights agreement in August 2023. Fans interested in buying new season or mini-plan packages for the 2024 season may do so online at www.meangreentickets.com or by calling the North Texas Athletics Ticket Office at (940) 565-2527 during normal business hours. Season tickets start as low as $80 prices for Family Zone seating with options all the way up to exclusive premium experiences in the HUB Club or Field Cabana.1 point

I wish someone who has season tickets in 104-106.....would tell us what the price is expected to be this year....as opposed to last year. I am assuming it's $415 per seat....plus the per seat MGSF donation ($200-250?). Wrong? Seems like a big increase from last year.....but am not sure. Just wondering. They priced me out of the Club last year.....so it happens.1 point

Or at least one of those. Pretty meh for these, but it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things.1 point

This is absolutely correct. No more baking in fees for a general education and/or soliciting to the public to buy season tickets AND get donations... if you want to field a team, budget for it. If you want to build a new stadium/athletic facility, figure out a normal way to get it done... don't hold false promises by telling alumni that we HAVE to have this if we want to be competitive... don't sign coaches to ridiculous contracts if you don't have the capital to back it up. how much money has been spent since 2000 to ensure that we will move up in the college football world... and do we now stand in a significantly better position?1 point
-
Does NIL dictate this kind of move? I think it does simply because having a freshman back up qb that can be really good could be a negative in loosing him the following year to NIL money if he had success on the field. Smart move.1 point

Most poor families deal with crappy schools to even get their children academically eligible and capable to progress through college once they get there. And the reality is at most colleges the Pell Grants still leave students in a position to take out loans.1 point
-
That NIL is better than what our baseball players got back in the days when the team split 2 full scholarships across 15+ players. Basically, coupons to McDonalds (University location only) and a Big Chief tablet. GMG1 point

Yes, and I do it to support the program and to make sure I can sit next to my friends in the best seat possible. I don't do it to get the best deal possible. I know there are going to be a few games each year when the athletic department is going to discount tickets to sell as many as possible. And guess what? I don't care. I hope they're doing everything they can to increase attendance. If it bothers some of y'all so much then buy cheaper season tickets or don't buy them at all. There's nothing stopping you from getting the discounted price for a single game ticket.1 point
-
That happens at Basketball games as well. I have 4 seats, pay MGSF contribution, and some guy sets next to me and when I ask he says he bought ticket at window for less than the face value of mine or if unsold some students occupy the seats. For what I give I would rather have the space to stretch my legs.1 point

Not being able to develop Stone is a big strike against Coach. He had a good completion % and had wheels with a competitive nature. Looked like the perfect candidate for Morris. I wanted Chandler with the idea Stone would be a back up or situational player. I hope the defense is at least average.1 point
-
One other thing about season tickets. You pay the money and the MGSF donation to be in your particular section. Then the season rolls around....and you see all kinds of visiting team fans sitting in those same sections. And you know damn well.....they didn't pay a MGSF donation....they just bought their tickets and paid for game ticket only.1 point
-
If that is the case - and I do not dispute you - why look for a stadium upgrade at this point in the game. The article seems to push against your theory.1 point

I like them. I can appreciate the clean and classic look. I like the Texas with SOW on the pants. But I don’t love them. I like a bit more flash. I like “Mean Green” across the chest that is now missing. I think the Littrell era had the best uniforms. But my opinion doesn’t matter. Hope the players love them and are amped up for the season.1 point

These are the best uniforms we've worn in the last few years. Clean and uniquely North Texas. This year's looks like someone spent about 5 minutes thinking about them. We have a lazy AD.1 point

I am so turned off by the turn college sports has made. Sad, sad.1 point

One thing to keep in mind. No one is forcing these kids to play football. Sometimes we all act as if that’s their only option. It’s not. Let them get a job. Go to work. If they truly want to educate themselves then fine. Pay for your tuition. If that’s by working in a grocery store, do it. If it’s by earning an academic or athletic scholarship fine. But don’t ask me to pay you to come and play at my school and then expect me to pay again at the ticket office to watch you play. I’m no fool1 point
