Wasn't even looking for it...and somehow stumbled onto the CW Network....and watched the final few holes. It's Carlos' first win on the LIV Tour. And oddly enough....his PGA Tour win........was also in Houston. As to the LIV.....I wish it had never been started. It really isn't catching on....as my guess is, there weren't even 1,000 fans in the gallery. But since it exists...and we have two alums on it....I am glad when they do well.5 points

I followed Carlos and Sebastian a few years ago at the Colonial and got to visit with them and their families. Really nice guys and they are friends and they live near each other in the Metro-mess. I suspect it was a good pay day.2 points

I hear ya, but I hope a guy with this type of resume will want to leave his mark and leave something better than when he got here. A push for excellence. Guys like him don't get to where they are by doing a half assed job.2 points

The defense was bad, therefore the defensive coordinator must be. It is not nearly that simple.2 points

Exhibit A-Z: Defense. Also not starting Rogers from day one was a huge blunder. We had the money to hire a more experienced coach and we went with the bargain hire again. We got what we paid for.2 points

He did a little more than lead the ND Marching Band.. Activities and Societies: Honors Program, Marching Band - Drum Major, Percussionist - Concert Band, Jazz Band, Symphony, Folk Choir I don't know if the national College Jazz Band competition is still being held at Notre Dame, but the 1 0'Clock got a lot of their national attention there in the early 60's.2 points

Gretchen Bataille was disastrous, and V. Lane Rawlins came to the rescue (having previously been president of Washington State and Memphis) and got us back on track, but he said from the beginning he would not stick around very long. Smatresk had been President of UNLV for 4 years and had previously served as an administrator at UTA. I thought from the beginning Smatresk was a steal. Smatresk proved himself to be effective and is stepping down at just the right time. I think we need the expertise that Keller brings to the position and I am optimistic that he will prove to be a great hire.2 points

You're going to run out of coaching candidates if every time one doesn't work, you exclude future candidates who meet the same criteria as failed ones.1 point

To be blunt...if you do not donate, if you do not buy tickets and if you do not follow the Mean Green, we are not interested in your thoughts. Enticing fans of other programs to join us is far fetched, as they already have an agenda and that agenda is to demean North Texas and poke fun at those who do care about North Texas and its future.1 point

Love this. I’m taking my 2 boys out there and we are going with their granddad(ex-wife’s stepdad)who is a tech alum. His company is a sponsor so we are supposed to get field access. I told him that I’m wearing green, but I’ll get 1/2 and 1/2 shirts for my boys. Lol so keep an eye out for a in fan on the tech sideline. I hope we show up so everyone on the sideline doesn’t just feel sorry for me. Lol1 point

1.5 , I have never been less excited for the season to start. It combination of things, NIL, bring back the worse DC coordinator in the college football for another season.i bought my season tickets but not sure how many I will make and I live in Denton.1 point

It is really pretty simple in that the player will be an employee of the institution.1 point

The NIL payday is not going away and the cost of doing business will increase. Also, all our new facilities did was level the playing field, which certainly was a big step forward. At present the FBS has a limit of 85 scholarships but that could change for both the G4 and G6 programs when they spin off. The P4 schools could stay at 85, G6 drop to 75 ,and 1AA remain at 65. The money for NIL has to come from somewhere and for those of us with limited resources must look at reducing expenses anywhere they can. I certainly don't like it but amateur college sports is dead.1 point

If anyone watched that game against Tulsa......you were jealous. Because you wished that she was on our team. Now she is. What a pick up. Of all the pitchers I saw us go against this year.....she might have been the toughest. That I saw anyway. Great news...1 point

I'm taking a (big) "wait and see approach" to this hire. I remember the L. Jackson and Helwig (AD) eras. Both had Austin ties and tried to make us UT "light" or flat out hold us back.1 point
-
Facilities do matter. All the glitz of a payday will eventually wear off, as NIL donations will fade and most players won't get a huge payday. There are thousands of football players out there that mostly want opportunity to play at the college level. The higher the level the better, and we are a pretty high level on the food chain even though it doesn't feel like it. The great equalizer is still a scholarship and playing time. Each FBS still has a limit of 85 scholarships and only 22 starters. You won't get many wanting to go to Houston as a walk on, and pay their on way, to sit on a bench 3 years to maybe get a scholarship and play as a senior.1 point

There may have been a few, but in general the Lee Jackson hire was far from popular. If you like low key executives with seemingly few accomplishments, Jackson may have been a good choice. Of course, I was underwhelmed by the Smatresk hire and he imo turned out to be very good for NT.1 point

Bad in game coaching + hiring and then retaining the worst statistical DC in the country = bad hire.1 point

Totally agree. Morris has been a big disappointment. Ever since the Cal game. He really blew that one.1 point
-
NIL/portal has lessened my interest in college football in general but my lack of enthusiasm for this season mostly revolves around Morris. The lack of a defense kills my confidence in a good season (and then anyone worth a damn will get plucked by a p4).1 point

6 - but is almost exclusively because North Texas games (really tailgates) are where I see a lot of my friends that I don’t see otherwise…and because I’ve already bought tickets1 point

N.I.L., open borders transferring, deep pockets to pay players until the players get better deal$, then they're gone to the highest bidder. No thanks. Truly sad what is happening.1 point

I guess we would all be fine if he had signed with Duke. It's this man's life and I wish him well.1 point

3 The players don’t seem to care about the school they play for anymore. Why should I care about them? The paycheck is their priority, then they go somewhere else. The HC and AD both expressed public concern recently about where our level is headed. I agree. It’s not good for the fans. If it’s not good for the fans then it’s not good for the program thus not good for the school.1 point

My niece lives in SA and attends UTSA. He plan is to transfer to UT eventually. Anyway, they had Jeff Traylor send out this email and my sister sent it to me because she knows I am a big Cowboy fan and love Emmitt. UTSA Fans: Just like you, I am really looking forward to the upcoming football season. You don't win as many games as we've won during our time here without having a lot of different guys step up. Over the next few months, I am excited to see who will separate themselves, earn the privilege of wearing the 2-1-0 and lead us to another great season. In order for us to continue to reach our goals, it really is going to take all of us moving in the same direction. We count on your support of our guys to help this program continue to achieve more firsts and milestones. They represent you - the best fans in the country! I encourage you to attend the Roadrunners Kickoff Luncheon to support our student-athlete NIL efforts. This event will feature Emmitt Smith as the keynote speaker and will take place Friday, August 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Marriott Rivercenter Hotel. Click here to purchase your sponsorship or a seat that will directly impact our student-athletes. Thank you for all you continue to do for our student-athletes. Birds Up! Jeff Traylor0 points

Good point. Backups get paid at the Professional level. I wonder how that will trickle down to college. So for example you pay a quarterback from North Texas to go to Cal for $440,000 but he either gets hurt or is beaten out by a backup. Does the former UNT quarterback lose the money which is given to his replacement, a former backup? The fine print in NIL pay could get interesting. Fun times .0 points

I don’t think we could afford to buy out his contract after 2 years. But I agree, his hire has been highlighted by poor recruiting and mistakes.0 points
