I'd say 6, but because of the portal.....I'll say 3. And that's because.....to be excited....you have to be excited about individual players. And quite frankly, with all the turnover......I'm not even sure who we have any more. I know Landon Sides, Stone Earle, Gabe Blair, Rod Brown...and a few others. But not like in normal years....where I'd know who most of the starters were.7 points

The problem with the current system and the state of affairs is that the best and brightest don't want to subject themselves to what it takes to run. As stated earlier, Trump's a blowhard narcissist and Biden is the useful idiot being played like a puppet. There are a number of people I would vote for, but they aren't running so I am left with a choice between the two above. I'll take mean tweets, low gas prices, enemies that don't step out of line, no wars, border security and putting our needs first over weak foreign policy, placating to every voting block out there, constant lies, terrible economy, record inflation, etc...3 points

With 10 being the highest, how excited are you about the upcoming season? I'm at a 5 which I haven't really felt this excited since the Dodge/McCarney days.2 points

Until more people do this, things will remain the same. Not enough pain yet though.2 points

Great pickup from a ceiling perspective. Hasn’t been able to see the field because of injuries. If his knee is healthy, he could be great here. He hurt his knee at least twice, undergone surgery . Was the recipient of the Philip Rivers Award, given to the team’s top rookie… played in 12 contests, starting six games… credited with 36 tackles… logged 9.0 tackles for loss… led all ACC freshmen and with 4.5 sacks… tallied a career-best nine tackles in the win over Duke, including 1.5 TFLs… forced a pair of fumbles.2 points

Lamar has a little history on their side. UAPB is in my Mom's hometown and it is rough now. I'm not sure I would let my child attend there because of the terrible crime and even worse condition of the city. Really sad, because it used to be a beautiful town decades ago.2 points

It isn't unusual for the doomsayers to dominate a discussion. Kind of like some are more likely to complain out loud about bad food or service than reflecting it in a tip. That said, the general trend is that CFB is changing, and not for the better. Especially for fans of less esteemed (rich) teams. If it is inevitable that the smaller schools will have to find a way to stay/become relevant, consider this (and by the way, I subscribe to the "there are no original thoughts remaining" so this isn't likely the first time you have seen this): Adapt a major league baseball, farm system model. The 50 or so elites can contract with 3 lessers to be their farm teams. Lessers might be considered A, AA, AAA. The current G5s, perhaps not all, could negotiate with the 50 to be their AAA team, hopefully with a regional bias. Current FCS teams might be AA, and whoever is left can negotiate their way into the A spots. Championships could be played at each level. Each "farm" team would run their programs independent of their Major League team. Clearly the Major would want some influence but their would also be organic back and forth discussions about recruits, and it might even be part of the Major's recruiting strategy. "We really like you but we are stocked at RB and we would like to get you on the field in the Minors for a year, then bring you up. Here is an extra $150k to supplement what the Minor program will offer while you are there." But the Major would be given, for the contracted price, the right to "call up" any player on the farm teams. Players could go up and down in the system. Some Major signees may be sent down if they don't perform to the value of their NIL, some Minor players would move up. The Major could elect to continue to pay the Major NIL price that those sent down signed up for, to keep them in the system or not. Each minor level could offer its own NIL, and some of that funding could come from the revenue generated by its relationship with the Major. To make it a bit more challenging, the minors could agree to run the same offense and defense as the major. It may be part of the negotiation amongst G5s as to who they may line up with. Even in-season call ups would be more natural if the player is in the same system as the Major team calling him up. Players might get called up for the bowl game when a Major player opts out of its bowl game. UTSA would likely line up with UT, as an example, and adopt similar playing styles. Free agency would be restricted to certain times, just like the transfer portal is now. And money is going to play a big part in that. But maybe teams might offer more money for a longer commitment to stay, that either player or team could get out of for a price (say part of the NIL payment is escrowed for a period of time to be clawed back if the player opts to leave, or a separation payment is paid by the team to get rid of a kid it no longer wants). To me, the upside for the minors is their place in the sport has more relevance, and likely more revenue (the two are related) through their relationship to the Major. There are likely many issues to make this impossible. I'd like to hear them, and there is likely more to add on the positive side. Flame away, friends. GMG1 point

This is my point. Bugs transferred to a school that is confused with a shoe. Save your game day programs from last season. You’ll never hear of Jim Buggs again.1 point

How anyone could think either Trump or Biden are good people is beyond me. They’re both snakes. It’s a sad commentary on America when these are the choices for President.1 point

With politics, it comes down to policy platform for me. Biden's are a disaster, period. Personlly, I think Trump is a narcissistic fool and a blowhard that doesn't know when to shut up. List the evil things he has done? Democrats claim that if he is elected, it will be the end of democracy? Please list specifics. You all act like Biden is just some angel compared to Trump. He is a political disaster, from a horrible family, that has lied his way to the top. It's mind-boggling to me that people are so quick to jump on Trump and just ignore the actions of Biden, his family, the Clintons, Obama, the Pelosi family, Schumer, etc... That trial was a shame and a disgrace and done for no other reason than political gain.1 point

I'm not scapegoating Fauci, just pointing out the truth you refuse to accept. And you really think that was a fair trail? Talk about sad. If Trump is guilty of these "crimes" then line up Clinton and Biden for doing the same. I will await the trials for: * Covering up Hunter's laptop. * Fake Russia collusion. * Biden hiding top secret documents in his garage. * Clinton silencing Lord knows how many women. All of the above and more were done to effect the outcome of an election and would cover the two noted above along with the leadership of the Dimocratic party. Let's see if the justice system handles both the same. I'm not holding my breath.1 point

Ah, the mighty Darrell Dickey who went 2-7 against G5 competition outside the Sun Belt between 2001-2004. And that's not even counting 2 losses to TCU, who was G5 at the time. #StirringThePot1 point

30 hours without power so far. A good thing that I bought a portable generator after The Big Freeze. Window AC and fans are managing to keep the room comfortable. Still no cable internet, but a phone hotspot is doing ok. I'm going to lose a lot of frozen food 😞 Still, it's better than having a tornado take the house out. I can't complain too much.1 point

There is a lot of information yet to be processed. Is the NCAA going to require a certain number of sports? How will woman's sports be affected? Where is the money going to come from on a go forward basis? What will be the value of AAC t.v contract once the P4 conferences spin off? Would the G6 schools be better off by being pro active , leave the NCAA, and develop their own rules for membership? We will need to do it sooner or later when the P4 conferences move on. Also, the legal rights of college athletes is driving this and the NCAA is powerless to prevent change .1 point

While I am not a fan of the portal madness....I never begrudge a kid when they leave....because of lack of playing time. And while lower down the "food chain".....Lamar and UAPB...are both Division 1.1 point
