I don't like it. But what he says is obviously true. This is not good for college football. Or basketball. Or most any other college sport.7 points

College football has always been a food chain. The problem now is the instant movement allowed every year for players with no sit-out for transfers. Maybe if the Texas Tech's, and other mid-P4's of FBS, start feeling the pain of having star players stolen then more restrictions will happen.4 points

Wow a sobering statement indeed. This has to be having an energy effect on most programs. Will college football actually become less popular? I mean the power programs say no way, never. I am not so sure about this. It won’t go as niche as golf. But investment works 2 ways. GMG4 points

can you provide a low-production value YouTube video to support this stance?4 points

From where Jimbo Fisher sits now, after years of coaching high-level college football programs, he sees a clear divide between the well-resourced programs in the SEC, Big Ten and a few other conferences and the rest of the world of college football. He went so far as to allude to certain FBS schools functionally becoming developmental stops. “Here’s what’s happening, all of your mid-majors and a lot of your not-mid-majors, I’m going to say some of your ACC, Big 12, old Pac-12, some of those leagues, they’re becoming glorified junior colleges,” Fisher said. “And some of those teams used to battle for playoffs and have great teams. They took that three-star guy or that four-star guy you missed and they developed him into a heck of a player and he became a great player at their school. Fisher used arguably the best football player currently alive to make his argument: Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who was drafted out of Texas Tech with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. “How about Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech? Would he have ever stayed at Texas Tech? Somebody would have came and got him,” Fisher said. “You know what I’m saying? And what’s happening, your haves are out there saying, ‘OK, I need a corner and I need a tackle and I need a running back.’ And they’re going to these four-year schools and just selecting, and those guys are really becoming glorified junior colleges, and it’s a shame. I mean great college football programs that have won big in the past and have had tremendously great players. But that what’s changed.” Link: https://www.on3.com/news/jimbo-fisher-claims-some-conferences-are-becoming-glorified-junior-colleges/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR2rlzMeo_cEPD6TpbFAWoEUVqgpt_yqatMT52gyT6HICo_nyEvr2nFGOKc_aem_AfsuZvKQBBs_SzhuB_qg2qO7ZdN1vheq_Ks56BhKzhGA_HOPkEAyCuXzJk-zHgdQwWoqZ88nbNvoDCh4vmow0o4n3 points

Most scientists still believe it was natural rather than man made, but both camps have plenty of things to point to. https://www.science.org/content/article/virologists-and-epidemiologists-back-natural-origin-covid-19-survey-suggests3 points

I think we need another 6-7 to 6-10 F who can Board and relieve in case of injury or foul trouble2 points

I think the biggest issue is the gain of function research being conducted and Fauci looking people in the eye and completely denying it. Man ruined his career and reputation.2 points

LOL, nothing has been proven with any certainty about the origins of the virus and to those who believe the Lab Leak Theory, it's generally thought to have been an accidental leak, not some sort of weapon made by the Chinese against the West. People still debate where the Spanish Flu originated with over a century of research, it's unlikely people will ever be 100% sure where this came from either.2 points

Signed with Troy to the old staff (now at Tulane). Entered the portal after the staff left. He's a local kid that played well at Kilgore JC. This could be a sneaky good addition. He had 9.5 sacks and 35 tackles last year at Kilgore. Looks like he had 19 offers coming out of Kilgore (FCS and G5 schools). The DL should be much improved this fall.1 point

Remember when Covid leaked from Rudy Giuliani's ass in court?1 point

That is a great idea. Most big schools wouldn't come knocking if we hadn't taken in a overlooked recruit and housed, educated, and developed his skill level. We should be compensated for that.1 point
-
G5s can stop this BS. And at some point break with the Semi-Pro P4's and why play them. Heck...let the screwed up NCAA run the P4's and form our own governing body.1 point

How do I make as much money as I can, now! This is the model in the business world why not college athletics, which is a business. Do the schools like a TT have enough clout to put limitations in place?1 point

Another going the JUCO route. That should provide him the opportunity to upgrade his academics or get some playing time. Best of luck to him.1 point

Has anyone received a call yet about their new seats? Were you able to be close to your original spot? I got an email today that I’ll be receiving a call tomorrow. I'm just not sure what to expect.1 point

I was contacted today. Not happy with being moved out of my seats. I am somewhat close but it is total BS. Season ticket holder in Football since Fouts.1 point

I doubt a young man is transferring from Tulsa where he was on scholarship, to UNT as a PWO.1 point

Just so I am clear on board rules, are we now allowed to copy and paste the entire articles from MeanGreenSports.com and not provide the links?1 point

Since that's a Dallas area juco......it's possible that we've offered him a walk on spot. I say that because.....the last time we got a juco player from the Dallas area.....he was a walk on....who eventually earned a scholarhip: The great JJ Murray. (arguably one of the best defenders....we've ever had).1 point

Regardless of the number of followers, I just assume that everyone that supports my point of view is a genius and anyone that disagrees is a hater.1 point

I recall being impressed with this kid's activity and effort in the games v. UNT. lots of upside and already has a season against high level competition under his belt. this is trading up on Morgan/Dixon's roster spot. I love it.1 point

Too light to play the 5 spot, but I like 6-9. Do we have any scholarships remaining after him?1 point

I can give a little scout from a Fairfield fan. * he should become a fan favorite/leader on the team. he plays with intensity and joy. has a knack for making big plays. * he shares the ball. doesn't turn it over. is happy to get out and run. the Stags liked to push the pace a fair amount. * his rebounding stats are not "Westbrook" stat stuffing. he anticipates well and is quick to the ball. he'll win a couple of extra possessions each game. * he's durable. will play 40 minutes, if you want. * good defender. he'll gamble for steals with mixed results. but I think overall that's a net positive. * a confident player. not afraid to take shots when he's open, but not a selfish player. some of his best games were the games he only had a handful of shot attempts. * good FT shooter. will not hurt you at the line. * he gets to the basket - but he has to work on finishing. often just a little out of control. * his 3P shooting is not a strength. the plus is he doesn't take bad shots. the negative is he doesn't make them as often as you'd like. * as I alluded to above - even though scoring wasn't the best part of his game, he seemed to come through pretty often in the clutch.1 point

Nothing will surprise me anymore. College football and basketball are dead. Nothing more than semi pro teams1 point

Y'all realize these are just content creator click bait producers right? "If the ACC blew up these are the ACC schools that could be available" real visionary inside rocket science stuff here. I'm sure the fact the media channel exists entirely for B12 fans has nothing to do with it. I'm reminded of all the AAC videos talking about how the B12 was blowing up when UT/OU announced leaving, how the AAC was going to take the best B12 schools, etc. It's just fan porn.0 points

To be clear--I agree. I believe it was accidental. To those who believe the Wet Market/Bat Bite/Delicious Wildlife Offal Theory--there's a big leap in logic required.0 points

Wtf... lol. No, they are not. They have a geographic upper hand on us. They claim large swaths and the people in them as their own. It's worked for them, and good for them. But they are by no means superior to us. Historically, they are bad to extremely mediocre in just about everything they do. Yeah, Yeah - touche, we are, too. I would call us 2 peas in a pod well before I called them superior. However, UNT at least has SOME history.0 points

This may be where we end up: There has also been past talk of a possible all-Texas Football Championship Subdivision conference but that has not gained traction. Those discussions could start up again. Read more at: https://www.americanpress.com/2024/05/14/slc-open-to-taking-back-sfa-others-might-follow/0 points

Put these guys around Jones and Scott who graduate and ride out together into the pros. That was the ending we needed. Still hard to get excited about any of this. Hopefully students show up as season ticket holders are sadly not coming back for sports. Probably the biggest drop off we have had in a while 😕0 points

to paragraph one...agreed. this team had a +2 rebounding differential (+1 on both ends), good for 122 in the country. so above-average. -1 in blocks, so that would be nice to see go up. we we +1 in assists, but -1 in turnovers...and I put a lot of that to not having a legit PG. to paragraph two...I think that dude is Atin Wright. 14ppg last year as the secondary option to a 20+ ppg scorer in Tucker DeVries (who just transferred to WVU). Wright averaged 16.7ppg in his last season at Cal-Northridge as their lead volume shooter...went to Drake and took 2 fewer shots a night. I bet he's gonna be looking to get those shot numbers back up and if his improved percentages stay pretty consistent, that tracks for a 15-20ppg player.-1 points

This guy wasn’t very productive in high school, junior college or the two D1’s he’s been at previously. Pretty sad if this is the level of recruit we can get in football now. Yikes.-1 points

Not surprised. Careful @ADLER some posters will refer to you as doctor or some other sarcastic term because you don’t fall in line or buy the bullshit.-1 points

I hope there is nobody evil enough to excuse this massive crime against humanity and the deception used to cover the actions of the guilty. A reported 16 million people died worldwide from this. Here's, from congress, is how Fauci knowingly tried to deflect attention toward the wet market theories.-1 points

"All of those people who were being accused of being conspiracy theorists for believing the lab leak theory were correct."-1 points

We all paid an enormous cost for the actions of a few despicable domestic terrorists like Fauci and the horrible scum that helped him cover the truth. Here we have Fauci testifying three years ago before congress that this gain-of-function never occured. Millions of people worldwide died died because of the carelessness of Fauci and his ilk. And shame on everybody that exploited this virus for a political advantage.-2 points
