Bye And people wonder why interest is lagging and people don't want to go. Donate to the scholarship fund, donate to the facility's fund, donate to this collective or that for what? A kid that is just using us to move along? Getting more difficult to donate, to spend money on season tickets and to carve out time to travel to and from Denton for the games. This doesn't help. Love, A Scott. One of my all-time favorites because of the little things he does, but I honestly don't know where he thinks he will go to get more playing time.9 points

Rubin has graduated right? Trying out somewhere else with his extra year sucks, but we got the full four years out of him. It's only because of covid that he even has this.7 points

Lawyers going to take fans to court? The schools and/or the NCAA do not pay NIL bills.5 points

As I said a couple of weeks ago, having a former coach from the JUCO ranks should help us navigate this current environment well. Not sure if that ever entered into the hire at all, but JUCO coaches constantly have to rework their rosters since kids never stay longer than a couple of years, and sometimes not even that long.5 points

This one hurts. I don’t fault the player. That guy has been a rock for us and about as loyal as you can expect in this era. The system is broken.4 points
-
If they don't change NIL rules, look for college sports to continue to die. It is always been a monopoly at the top, but that may change as all the lower tier competition is eliminated. The SEC, PAC whatever, and Big Ten maybe have to schedule each other in the non-conference and they all have feasted on basically home only oc seasons. I assume Scott has graduated, if so I can't fault anyone who wants a different school on the next diploma. Yes, I recognize it is likely; some other school has offered and he has accepted a much larger NIL deal.4 points

Agreed. The winningest player in our history isn't a testament to him, but the era in which he played at UNT. Outside of that team stat, what statistic does he have that makes his athletic resume pop? As far as shunning him due to transferring... no. He's been here for a good while, was loyal last year when he didn't have to be, and wants to test the waters his last year. I don't like it. I actually hate it. But I understand it. I think graduates of our university, in theory, should be hof eligible.3 points
-
Of course he's eligible. As far as I know, anyone who has ever played for North Texas is eligible. The question is, do they have the resume? The fact that Rewbuhn is transferring is a minor strike against him, but I don't see him having a HOF-worthy resume regardless of transferring.3 points

I get a good laugh every time you have to get on to someone for this LMAO. Reuben deserves better.3 points

Damn, losing Aaron and Rubin even bumped the basketball subforum down below football again...3 points

Even after seeing his name written correctly and you still can't spell it right. And we wonder why he is leaving.3 points

Hard to follow, but I assume right now, and probably not for long; NT is expected these players to return Buggs Cotton Walker Sissoko Noland Stone With two high schoolers signed, that leaves 5 ships Assuming Hodge doesn't bolt too, I hope his juco connections work again.2 points
-
I think Ruben should still be eligible for it since he played here for four years and got his degree.2 points

How long until this gets brought up? You only have a handful of women college athletes that are making big NIL money. Clark and Reese in basketball and Dunne at LSU in gymnastics. This isn't going away and I'm sure lawyers are chomping at the bit to take the NCAA to court.2 points
-
Yep. The NCAA (rightfully, in this case) fought against NIL tooth and nail, and were forced by politicians to allow it.2 points

I suppose that's true if you're a generic sports fan who doesn't make an emotional investment in your favorite team/school. Perhaps in this new Era that's a mistake. Where we sit, we make it a point to cheer and encourage the players by name And I know they hear us. We care about them as people, not some nameless player wearing the uniform. They are like family to us. As fans we buy tickets, attend as many games as possible, donate to the scholarship fund and collective and anything else we can do to help the team. It's a financial, time and emotional investment that takes a toll on us and losing our team like this is like losing a family member to a cross country job promotion. This sucks big time and it hurts. I suppose I'll have to adapt or get out all together.2 points

https://writeforcalifornia.com/p/cal-spring-practice-offensive-questions-2024 Update on Cal QB battle. Call it off topic, I don't give a shit. This guy left us and a sure QB1 position to fight for the starting job at a barely P5 school. I hope he rides that GD bench all year and doesn't see a dime from the money they said he was getting.2 points

If you want to feel better about our situation.......follow some of the Portal sites on Twitter (or X). Because this is hitting everybody. All schools. As I recall......there were 200 names in the portal....two days into the process. (when it started a few weeks ago). About the Portal.....it's a gut punch when you lose guys. (like Aaron, Rubin and Jason). But in a week....or two....or three....when we start adding some from the portal (or juco or h.s. recruits)...it's easy to get excited again.2 points

We have had season tickets for like 30 years. I won’t give football or basketball up. Will continue it with my kids just like when I was kid; however I’m never giving to any form of NIL collective. and yes I could make many players. I would have to really think though haha. Maybe Eric Jackson to George King were some of the firsts as I would be them in the driveway at home after games shooting hoops.2 points
-
So I’m still unsure if all this isn’t just an April fools joke because transferring benefits neither of them; however of all the players who could transfer they should be allowed. Neither has previously transferred. 3-4 years respectably. Ruben yes Scott idk if he had stayed 4 then yes. I think it should be only for players who end their career for UNT but that’s not written in stone anywhere.2 points

I will always be a fan of Aaron and Rubin but with the last two high school recruits-turned-stars for us leaving, I am 100% on board with majority focus on recruiting scorers out of JUCO/D2. They may leave after a year or two as well but at least we know they are proven at the collegiate level.2 points

And here’s the self fulfilling prophecy of “you can’t get drafted from UNT” because when we do have a guy with the potential, they’ll be moving on before it happens.2 points

I don't know why we keep ripping guys that contributed from day 1. There's a very good chance that this team would not have achieved what it did without Jason Edwards. If he was the complete package when he came here he wouldn't have came here. Again, this fanbase/board needs to come to grips with the age of NIL and the transfer portal. We love our guys until they leave.2 points

Premier home game Wednesday against ranked OSU. The game is already sold out, so if you don't have tickets your only way to attend the game is to pull up into right field and hold your bladder. Hopefully there's more green than orange. We beat OSU at home last year, 5-1, for our first victory over the Cowgirls since 2015. Hopefully the bats show up. So far during our tough nonconference season, we've struggled on offense against every power conference team except Texas Tech. This will be a quick pit stop before going back on the road to resume conference play with UAB.1 point

Next up.......29-6 (and 8th ranked) Okie State comes to town. They run rule a lot of teams. But they did lose to Tulsa 3-0...and we swept Tulsa. So let's see what happens......Go Mean Green! The game is Wednesday night at 6....at The Lace.1 point

More "late inning heroics." This team grinds until the last out. Everyone is contributing. Proud of this series win. GMG1 point

Took FCGU to the Sweet 16. Eight appearances in the NCAA tournament including another Sweet 16 and an Elite 8. Also regarded as one the truly elite recruiters in the country. Signed a six year extension with USC after last season.1 point
