Apologies in advance if this is an inappropriate or spammy post, but I wanted to extend an invitation to join the Mean Green Infantry. We are a new, unsponsored group of passionate Mean Green fans dedicated to increasing fan and alumni engagement and raising our profile by coordinating group outings to make our presence felt at away and neutral site games. https://www.facebook.com/groups/meangreeninfantry Last weekend we had over 35 people buy together for the men's basketball game at SMU. We're going even bigger for the last game of the regular season at Rice. So join us! Those group tickets are only $10-30. We're also working on a pregame tailgate. Here's the link to our event page for the Rice game, I'll be making our initial purchase of tickets next week: https://www.facebook.com/share/RQYQAKVGsHKZXjTY/?mibextid=9VsGKo5 points

My girlfriend remarked on the drive home that the production value of the game last night was "Big-Time". I was so pleased. There were flame throwers at the team intro, lots of give aways and great halftime show from Simon. Either the sound system has been updated or perhaps a better selection of music? Nevertheless, it was a really cool scene last night and if they can continue to replicate that type of atmosphere the future of the program is bright. Much more entertaining than any UNT football game I have been to.5 points

he missed three weeks the first time. it's been three weeks since the re-tweak. I'm not playing him this weekend, even if he's medically cleared. I'm not worried about him re-integrating into the team. he's literally the most experienced player in school history. err on the side of caution...the conference tournament is our only path into a national tournament. if he is 100% for FAU, maaaaaybe, but definitely some minutes for Rice.5 points
-
He wasn’t rushed back last time and that didn’t prevent the injury. If he is cleared and feels good, just kind of have to play him and hope for the best. And don’t go into seasons with only one playable PG anymore.5 points

I think we may win 2 of the losses. Giving Edwards/Buggs a few minutes of rest along the way, goes a long way down the stretch. I liked the minutes he had Moore log in the first half. I thought it was exactly what we needed.4 points

In that bracket, there's a path for us to get revenge against LSU and St John's or face Kansas State. Xavier with Abou would be on the table as well if all those teams make deep runs. Would make for very exciting basketball even though I'd prefer to get the big dance AQ.4 points

All this back and forth about how we do with/out Rubin. How do you think we’d be doing with a serviceable backup PG? You think we would be sitting with 3-4 more wins? Competing for a 1 or 2 seed? I suspect we’d be in a position for a T4 seed.4 points

The remaining schedule is below, there are two big games, including this one and then four games that we have to win (East Carolina will most likely be the most pissed off to play us). If we win on Sunday, we can really have a good chance to finish the season strong, I would even consider bringing back Rubin for FAU. If we lose to UAB, my vote is to rest him until the conference tourney. @UAB2/18 2:00 PM vsUTSA2/24 3:00 PM @Tulane2/28 6:00 PM vsEast Carolina3/3 2:00 PM vs24FAU3/6 7:00 PM @Rice3/9 7:00 PM Just a quick look at the schedule of those ahead of us. South Florida has to play FAU, SMU, @Charlotte Charlotte has to play @Memphis, South Florida FAU has to play @South Florida, SMU, @Memphis, @North Texas, Memphis (ROUGH) SMU has to play Memphis, @FAU, @South Florida, @UAB We're obviously not going to win the regular season, but we should at least move up to 3-4 with above average play4 points

Our fans have seen two victories over name schools (smut and Memphis) and both games had big crouds to boot. Just goes to show what a big time program looks like and hopefully, the regular Joe Fan will continue to come out and support this team like it should be.3 points

Agree with this…. also that a few of the teams ahead of us have tough schedules down the stretch. Feels like we just went through it….at near half strength. Last few weeks in this conference are going to be fun. A lot of movement could take place. Take care of business against these last few opponents, Get our guys back healthy and we could make a run. Top 4 seed for the tourney is not out of the question. Put your seat belts on!3 points
-
Even the broadcast was different. During the game they had on court interviews and segments where they played question games with the players. Not sure if this had anything to do with the American Showcase stuff that they kept talking about, but I would be good if it was every game. It was fun!3 points

If the 6+6 had been in place in 2020 Pac-12 would have been out. The champions of AAC, ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC, and Sun Belt were the six highest rated champions. I want 6+6 to remain but Pac-12 getting a Power 5 share would be a disaster because that fat cut of money increases the odds they can pick off schools from the G5 and create another round of instability. As it stands there's a good chance MWC tells them join or be independent and that's the only options they have.3 points

it'll only have three tires but he'll claim it handles better than one with four.3 points

Realistically, we have to beat UAB Sunday to have any chance at one of the top four spots. Even then, we would need help from others. Let's just make sure we are healthy for the conference tournament in Ft. Worth.3 points

I know we have our sights on the Big Dance, but this has us in the NIT at the moment.2 points

I really like his ability to handle the basketball. He's as close to Rubin's ability to handle the ball as we have on the team.2 points

Hodge mentioned the value of Moores minutes during the postgame on the radio. If needed, hope he’s able to continue to contribute.2 points

I picked "ASAP," but that's assuming he's fully medically cleared and feeling pretty close to 100%. He's that important to this team, and even if an at-large NCAA tournament bid is no longer in play, these upcoming regular season games down the stretch are still monumentally important. Now, if the question is implying that "ASAP" would be playing him at like 80% and with a medical staff unconvinced, then absolutely not.2 points
-
He should play when he’s cleared to play. Why leave a healthy starter on the bench? Edit after reading @Greendylan post. I agree. By being cleared to play, I meant that as being 100%.2 points

I can’t think of a scenario where this kind of decision is based on offseason turnover. can you explain your reasoning here?2 points

I like a well lit arena where I can see all the stands though. UNT had minimal lighting a few years ago except for the lights shining on the court and it was not the best IMO. Felt like I was at a concert. haha2 points

The AAC has 7 teams that should be either NCAA or NIT. Based on only 3 teams listed in the NIT and no way 4 get in the NCAA, a couple of teams may get left out in the cold.2 points

I don't agree with this. I think Draper is inexperienced and Youmans is pretty fair and discusses both squads. I am interested to hear what makes them so bad. I think sometimes when you don't have the voice for radio/commentary like this (Draper) it's easy to say they are bad. Youmans definitely has the voice. Everyone starts somewhere and I think we have had some good ones come through here. Emrich and Followill are the two that come to mind. See above comment. I think they talked about JE just as much, if not more. My Dad is like this too, it's like if they talk about any of the other team's players, they are "in love with the other team". The more I watch JE on and off the court, the more I feel like he is such a great person and player. I mean he is so well spoken, respectful, knowledgeable about basketball and seems like a good guy. The fact that he already has more 30 point games against better competition than TP....well......2 points

Perhaps, although I’m leaning more toward Penny is a laissez-faire NBA style coach who gives in to the players. He rips into the refs but not his own guys. Worried if he does they will turn or transfer. Same reason Jason Kidd never holds Luka accountable for his childlike tantrums on the court. Superstars…. Hard to control and highly recruited kids who play more AAU ball than organized high school basketball…. That’s a problem.2 points

Just watched the highlights and realized what the issue is with Memphis. NBA coach teaching the NBA style. They don't like grind it out basketball, lazy on defense and flash over substance.2 points

Stating the obvious here, but 6-0 is the ceiling and 4-2 is the floor. Not much room for error.2 points
-
Though he can get reps and warm up in practice it shouldn’t hurt to get him 5-6 minutes in a couple games before the tournament. Run with the starters as they mask/shield and let him go 50-60 percent even. Just getting in game minutes. Don’t want him cold and then suddenly starting and getting 30 plus minutes come tournament time.2 points
-
I don't think we see Rubin before March. I like the idea of getting him a couple games prior to the tournament, but wouldn't be upset if Hodge held him out until R1. FAU's final stretch is murderer's row., with SMU's schedule a close second Wow.2 points
-
I want to at least split with the good teams and beat all the bad ones…. We really need to go 6-0 here heading into the tournament and hope that gets us the first round by. All out. We need Rubin and Noland for this run and the tournament.2 points

This is a really great win against a quality opponent considering we are short-handed with injuries. This (-10) is the second worst lose for Memphis all season. Villanova beat them by 16. They are 4-0 over ranked teams, and have wins this season over Missouri, Michigan, Arkansas, Texas A$M, Clemson, Virginia, and Vanderbilt. Memphis has a tough conference schedule remaining: $mut, Charlotte, UAB, and FAU (twice).1 point

I have followed NT since 1966 and I can tell you that we NEVER beat Memphis ever. Hats off to the team, the crowd and especially Coach Hodge.1 point

Game would’ve hit 8k easily if we hadn’t been on a slide and Memphis was still ranked. The FAU game should get to 6,500+ I’d think1 point
