I know the season is far from over. However, most of if not all of the legacy AAC schools were saying that North Texas and the other former CUSA schools were going to bring down this conference and how we do not belong. As it stands, both the MBB and WBB have beaten every team that was legacy AAC so far this year. The only team they have both lost to is Charlotte and they came from CUSA like us. I don't want to hear from those legacy AAC teams again about how we do not belong. I get it that it is still early, but none of the legacy teams have beaten our men or women. So, the next time they talk about "lil old North Texas", they should put some respect on our name. That is all. I just had to get that out.11 points

South Florida has a 85% winning percentage at home over the last 10 years....makes the win even more impressive11 points

This team just finds a way to win. Coach Burton should definitely be the AAC Coach of the year.7 points

4 minutes remain in the first half with a score: UNT18 SF21 Forgive me if this question has been previously answered: Are the opponents in tonight's game correctly referenced as "Lady Bulls?"6 points

No one was waving goodbye to Abou. He was beloved here until he QUIT on the team during our postseason run.5 points

Oh there is lots to pick out. But everyone is piling on Stone when there are other liabilities out there. Say what you want… but there are some that maintain the level of play and others that don’t.5 points

Coach Burton is from this area. Coached in high school in McKinney I believe. Really wanted the UNT job to get back to DFW from Commerce. If we give him the right amount of money, I think he will stay because he wants to be here. Obviously, he could be money whipped, but I think it would take a lot for that to happen. Let's just enjoy the ride before we start talking about him jumping ship.4 points

Team never changes. They just keep after it whether up by ten, tied or down by ten. Tough defense, hustle, rebound and stay after it. USF was predicted to win conference and we were picked to finish twelfth. Got to play the games.4 points

Wish these two grad transfers Burton brought over from his old school had another year! Lampkin & Kernal are probably the two best players in the AAC!4 points

I would rather lose vs. Charlotte and pick up urgency for SMU and tough stretch than get complacent.4 points

Good take. The AAC is a tough league. Even the two ranked teams have losses in conference already. I was watching the Texas/Baylor game today and Texas next EIGHT opponents are ranked in the Top 25. If we are going to keep ascending as a program we are going to play better and better teams. We aren’t going to win ALL of them. We just have to win most of them (while still also winning all the cupcakes) and this team is doing that.3 points

You can look at the score to see this first thing. Holding them to 56 is what we do. 44 points in a game is just not normal for us.3 points

I'm second-ing another's opinion in this thread. I'm not intersted in repeating things that have already been said. But if you want something, here I've seen enough of this game to know when I see a tired squad. Does a bad shooting night always equate to being tired? No, but they're related. It makes sense, IMO, to believe this after what transpired @ ECU. To see this small rotation get maxed out...night after night. I don't like the "tired" talk though. You can't be constructive about it, except for saying "get some rest." Let's talk about our shallow rotation. Our awful offensive efficiency. And, when Edwards is off, how painful we are to watch. Stating another obvious: Stone isn't contributing. A difficult truth is, since the Grant era, not only are we not recruiting to help with depth, we haven't successfully gotten anyone that is enough to offset Stone's minutes. Apparently, who ever we have past him is not good enough defensively (or even offensively?) to earn the edge over him. Want to call someone out? Call out Grant and Hodge for that.3 points

Sure, Sissoko has to improve. He's also barely getting any playing time. Starter or not, you can't expect him to progress and/or get in a groove with how many minutes he's playing. Over the course of the season, he's averaging 17.2 minutes per game and 6.1 rebound including 2.6 offensive rebounds per game. For comparison, Abou's career high in average boards per game for us was 6.0 in 24.3 minutes per game. Obviously we need more on offense from him but at least he's not hitting 48.3% from the field on 9 attempts per game like Abou was. Being that inefficient from around the basket was a killer at times. For us, our only path to the Big dance is through the AQ. Best we get our starters healthy for the conference tournament. I'd love some marquee wins along the way but beating Memphis or FAU once won't get us in anyways. The program is otherwise in a great place. I believe we have the right coach to continue that F U culture and attitude. Ideally we can get some more depth for these long seasons in the next few recruiting cycles.3 points

Deeply disappointed in the loss. Typical UNT we lose momentum right prior to the attendance game at home against SMUt. Have a good weekend.3 points

Exactly. For nearly 8 years now these fellas have shown us that they’re mentally tough enough to deal. We aren’t as fragile as we’ve been conditioned to feel over the decades. These dudes can handle. Tonight sucked and I honestly had the same initial fear when I saw the graphic of the next slate of games we have. But the culture of this program truly does have fortitude and until they prove otherwise they’ve got the benefit of the doubt. Hope we get our 2 guys back to play probably the most winnable sports game we’ve felt we’ve had against SMU in quite awhile (which to be honest is I think at least one of the largest reasons around any commenters’ stress)…and I hope we do. But these dudes in this program have never done anything other than just come back and back and back and back. It’s not an easy league. Shit happens. Get back to work and go kill it. We will be ok I bet.3 points

Are you kidding me? It’s one game folks. We played poorly. It happens during a thirty game schedule. We were 1-17 or so from three. If we hit four or five more we win. Come on folks. Stop overreacting.3 points

Gotta like the chicken 💩 eyeroll. Most likely a woke fan of places like SI that stop focusing on what they were once good at, and tried to get into the social influence game. Doesn't always work out well when you lose sight of who your core audience is.3 points

SMU fan here. I am looking forward to the game in Denton next week. This will be my third time to the Super Pit, and second to see us play there. I think y’all are better than us because of your shooting, but I think we are more athletic. Our two biggest flaws are we have stretches where we can’t throw it in the ocean and we’re incredibly turnover prone. That said, Lanier has done a good job of creating a defensive culture, very similar to your team. Anyway, glad y’all are getting a group to come to Moody. It is a great place to see a game. All the best to y’all when you’re not playing us. Beat Charlotte tomorrow.3 points

Tied in the loss column against our neighborhood foe, only half a game back from the conference lead. Huge, huge game for both schools.2 points

My impression is X is a massive tool for connecting players with coaches, and a player would be missing out on potential opportunities (offertunities?) if they didn't use it.2 points

Even if you do that you are still losing them after one year due to them being out of eligibility. At least with a HS kid, I have the chance to try and recruit him to stay as when you are out of eligibility, I cannot. That would be my take.2 points

I am not saying you are wrong, but I work with a lot of high school kids and they rarely use X. If you can find his Instagram, that will tell you a lot more. They all use Instagram. To a lot of them, using X is like using Facebook or Myspace to us older folks.2 points

Truly loving their success. You can see they play hard for 40mins for coach Burton. Hoping many recruits see what we’re building here and take part in it. Coach B is gonna keep us competitive and successful for a while.2 points

The bottom line is we have no offense outside of JE. Until we figure out how to recruit some offense, this will happen. Maybe I am speaking out of emotion right now, but the offense outside of JE the last two games has looked like a high school team playing pickup ball at the gym. Some will say, oh their defense was good, blah, blah. We just didn't make shots. Plain and simple.2 points

In the words of Vince Lonbardi, "fatigue makes cowards of us all." Not saying our guys don't have courage, but when you're fatigued you don't play your best and as a result make the other guys look good or perhaps better than what they are. Om sure our guys will remember when we get them in Denton.2 points

Yup.. all 7 guys who have virtually played all conference games. Everyone calm down. The fact we’re 4-1 after 5 conference games with 2 starters out is a miracle. Edwards has to be averaging 39 minutes a night… not sustainable. Scott near the same. It’s just not a good model to follow for sustainability2 points

This notion that the team needs to win every game to earn support has to die. Nothing today should deter people from packing the pit on Thursday. Your team is still 4-1 while missing 2 starters.2 points

Because we already only have 7 available (at least who seem to be able to play) guys. This team lacks depth sadly….. big lack.2 points
