I’m watching the game. What cheapens this Bowl game is they didn’t paint anything in either end zone referencing withe the bowl or the teams playing. End zones still have the smut mustang name. IMO, this cheapens the bowl, makes it seem….dirty, unclean.12 points

Not to take anything away but this is the first bowl game in their history so you would expect they would travel well.8 points

Hope that those of you coming to the game will be able to join us right after in the concourse area between . The entire men's team along with the coaching staff will join us right after the game. We will have a photographer that is taking photos of the players and printing them right there so you can walk away with an autographed photo of your favorite players! And all for a good cause, supporting UNT student athletes. All are welcome! Go Mean Green!6 points

What makes you say this? I believe what Morris is doing is brilliant. It may cost him his job but if he can hold on long enough 1 maybe 2 more years he will have talent he would not ever be able to have at UNT playing for UNT. There are HS Kids we signed in my rough guestimation, close to 3/4 of this HS class that Pre-portal we could not land because 1/2 P5's would have come in late when they didn't get their guy and offer and steal the young man from us. Now, those same schools are just hammering the portal, making a bunch of these young men available and you have to fight off equal competition (other AAC or CUSA schools). I also really like it because Morris said something and is standing behind it right or wrong, we *itch and complain about kids not staying at UNT or Flipping commits etc etc. Morris said when he got hired he was going to recruit TX HS talent and he's doing it. I believe adding 10-12 portal guys is smart because he can address a few areas of need OL, QB, and the back end maybe a DL or 2. While adding elite talent from the HS level.5 points

Bio says 6’4” and 255lbs so the perfect linebacker size for this 3-3-5 system.5 points

Go to the game next year. You can do all the fun stuff, stop at the Blind Tiger in Shreveport my favorite lunch spot when I worked down there, Flip off the Louisiana Tech this exit sign, say what's up to ULM, check out the battlefield at Vicksburg, throw out another what's up to USM. Best crab soup I've had in my entire life at Felix's Fish camp out by the battleship, eat char-grilled oysters at Wintzell's, snack on fresh roasted (roasted not boiled blech) peanuts at A&M Peanut House downtown and get some candy to snack on at your hotel. Grab breakfast downtown at Spot O Tea, the eggs cathedral get all the noise but the seafood eggs Benedict are banging. You've got Orange Beach nearby and Dauphin Island. Can do a quick in and out at the Mardi Gras Museum, Mobile will insist you not leave without knowing Mardi Gras in the US started there. Oh and some of you old heads might remember a poster from our board called FaninLa who was on the Independence Bowl board. He was at the museum out by the USS Alabama for one of the bowl games, discovered the F16 he flew when he switched from flying the F4 is in the museum and he mostly enjoyed the jokes about the museum trying to make him part of the display. He quit posting when he switched to a wife that liked him. I love Mobile. They have a great situation down there, LSU is actually the closest P5 program to the city. Means local TV guys can't personally cover Bama and Auburn except in rare situations because their stations won't pay the travel.5 points

Tulane’s primary colors are green and white. Today, they are wearing black uniforms, olive drab numbers(Military Bowl)with white outline. They are losing to Virginia Tech 41-20 in the 4th qrtr. Departing from your core school colors = bad mojo and guaranteed losses.4 points

Saying that Bean turned Kansas around is a very lazy take to try and dog on Seth. Jalon Daniels and Devin Neal were far more impactful for that KU offense and its program revive. Not even mentioning the job Leipold and staff have done all over the roster4 points
-
That is not true. He helped sure but if Jalon Daniels is healthy Bean rarely sees the field. Lance Leipold took KU to new heights and Bean is a part of that but he is not THE reason. He was much like Aune at KU. He would make a great play and then commit an egregious turnover. Would you say we now have an overpaid FCS coach who wants to get back to Lubbock as soon as he can? Also, don’t forget who found our program’s all-time leading passer and had the guts to start him as an undersized freshman over an underperforming benched SEC transfer.4 points
-
He also threw three INT’s on their own side of the field, giving up 21 points, and allowing UNLV to get back into it. Bonehead plays like those aren’t missed. He obviously got better with better QB coaching at Kansas but he was far from great while he was here.4 points

I watched a little of the game. Bean is a very good quarterback when his receivers have a 10 yard cushion from any defender.4 points

So, just curious about the whole Portal/NIL process thing with position players. Do these QBs shop themselves in the portal. Do they advertise what they would consider for their services? Does Coach Morris go to the $50K aisle to shop today or maybe the discounted $30K aisle to see if there are any good sales or returns marked down?3 points

I might be wrong, but I think we have played more football games against Texas State than any other school.3 points

Neither did Landon Sides he turned out to be just fine. This staff can identify and recruit offensive talent....its the other side of the ball that concerns me the most.3 points

Needless to say, the concessions stands were not prepared for such a turnout. They ran out of everything.3 points

This reminds me of last year when @Big Z and I went to the game in Arlington. We couldn't find the arena, so we asked someone on campus which direction it was and they looked at us and told us they had no clue.3 points

Who considers the ACC a "power" conference while leaving out the Big XII? It sounds like SMOO is still carrying that "woman scorned" attitude.3 points

And his scrambling/running ability allows guys to get open. Kansas was a dog program before he got there. He certainly took them to new heights Should have never left but we had an overpaid rookie head coach that wanted to get back to Oklahoma as soon as he could. By the way, We’re still looking for a quarterback after that fiasco.2 points

Bean made some very good throws and converted a 4th and 1 for a 40 yard touchdown. No reason to downplay the performance by saying he's good when his receivers have a 10 yard cushion. You don't throw 6 touchdown passes and for 449 yards just because your receivers get good separation.2 points

I am curious why UNT hasn't organized a Bowl game at Apogee (errr. DATCU) stadium. It's a good looking venue, and a CUSU or Sunbelt matchup would be a good fit.2 points
-
It's going to be harder and harder for programs like ours (and the rest of the G5 for that matter) to survive on the football side of things. In this age, our path to success will mean hitting on most if not all our transfers. They need to come in as starters or be on the 2-deep with considerable playing time. High school recruiting will need to focus on players ready to play as freshmen. We cannot sustain the expense of developing players in a large redshirt season class year after year.2 points
-
Our biggest weakness is lack of a big man that can score. I love what Sissoko did last year stepping in for Abu, but he's better with limited minutes. Allen works hard but is an offensive mess.2 points

I will respectfully disagree. We ran the entire game, just way out of sorts. Altitude of Bozeman = 4,820 The highest altitude town in TX is Fort Davis at 5,050 feet. I have spent time there and never really had any issues, so D1 athletes should be fine. Heck, Amarillo is at 3,662 and nobody has an issue. We are conditioned enough and deep enough to handle the altitude of Bozeman.2 points

If NIL was run through the universities, wouldn’t the $ amounts also have to become public? If so, what a S-storm that will be.2 points
