  1. Is it appropriate to sacrifice something in a fire ceremony during the eclipse to improve our chances of winning the rest of the season? I vote for sacrificing either the Lucky the Albino Squirrel mascot costume or maybe our grey uniforms.

  2. I can tell you this is the deepest and most talented UNT team they've ever had. That is one of the primary reasons we formed the collective was to try and keep this team together as well as supporting other sports. The $ amounts being offered to some of our men's basketball players from other P5 programs would astound you. But they love UNT, and they want to stay here. We are simply trying to bridge the gap. 3. But for our first home AAC conference game, wouldn't you want to pull out all the tricks?

  4. I think college football and college sports in general has passed me by. I’m getting less and less interested.

  5. can we find better things to nitpick our coach about? I can probably look at any coaching change in history and find guys that didn’t 100% buy in year 1. Observing this single shortcoming, then pointing fingers at the coach for and saying, “are we legit?” I could copy-paste the above into every different complaint/thread. Which, IMO, isn’t a good look.

  6. If they were wise they would figure out an entry mechanism that requires the student to be present at the beginning of the 4th quarter to qualify for winning the prize.

  9. Now why in the hell would you say that ? I have been a supporter of North Texas athletics since my freshman year of 1961, both financially and attendance at events. Since COVID and turning 80 I have not been nearly as active as I have been in the past but that doesn't mean I don't care. I fly a large North Texas flag in my yard, wear green on game days, and continue to contribute to the Mean Green Scholarship fund. Regarding my post of our current national standing in football ,I think we need to know where we are are so we can see where we are going, which at present is the wrong way. Having said that I believe that in 2025 we will return to winning football and hope I am around to enjoy it.

  15. A conference championship and bowl game program that everyone was so proud of that we fired the coach? In all the SL conversations no one was near this proud of that program that had been built. But the second anyone suggests it might take a little time to elevate the program, everyone loves to point out how great this program was doing under SL...I truly don’t get it: This may not have been a down to the studs rebuild, but it certainly wasn’t move-in ready.

  16. It's being reported in and around Ute Football circles Cam Rising has taken half a mil in NIL money for this season... and it's a wonder if he'll ever take a snap at this point. What'd we give Rogers? A $50 Beth Marie's gift card?

  19. Good effort, but it's not something we can be content with if we want to improve. All of those things don't matter if you can't get the +1 in the W column. If this is the start of some improvement that leads to wins it will be a good sign of growth, but if we flounder in the same way the rest of the season we will have shown a stagnant team that is not fundamentally working.

  21. I put no stock in these polls because all they can do is guess at how good we will be....and how good the rest of the league will be, honestly. You know a little something about Memphis because of who they return and a little something about FAU because of what they accomplished last season...but honestly nothing else. Oh, and from the things I have heard, the fact that some of our players stayed despite the sums of money dangled in front of them....tells me they have a LOT of hope for this upcoming season.

  23. Does anybody know of a reliable FREE place to park that they have used this season and will continue to use? Haven't been to the stadium in a while, and I heard the big lot across from the Super Pit/ where the old football stadium was, is now a paid lot. I used to always park in the lot at the UNT Support and Services Building for free and never had trouble, just don't know if that still is allowed. If anyone knows of a safe & free place to park let me know! GMG

  24. Thanks for catching that. No Post game tailgating for me.

  25. So is this going to equal "pay" across the board? Whatever collective funds exist for distribution must be divided by the total number of student-athletes the school has?

  30. I thought the ACU game was a great event! Tailgate, timeout entertainment, post game festivities, etc. The winning was the cherry on top. I think that’s the way to go for now.

  31. Tulsa tie dropped us to #41 in RPI rankings. Somewhat of a big drop but looking at the +/-10 surrounding teams I’d say we are positioned properly, top 50. We need to run our remaining schedule to make a soft landing into NCAA tourney. Then pray our RPI is high enough to get a favorable seeding, unlike years past. One game at a time…

  32. Yep, you got it figured out. People unhappy about UNT football are plants, because they have NO REASON to be dissatisfied.

  33. They have done gimmicks like this over the years. They don’t work in the long run. I like the concerts and Oktoberfest stuff. We have to find ways to make games more of an event that draws in student groups. I wish I knew the secret to getting to the place where students views DATCU as a “can’t miss event.” Outside of consistently adding entertainment around the games, the only other thing that will get students to and keep them coming is winning entertaining games.

  34. Here’s my kinda maybe hot take: Once these big donors realize giving the 3rd string TE a truck doesn’t equate to wins, you’ll start seeing some of this level out to a sustainable level.

  35. "Build this program" that went to a conference championship last year as well as a bowl game... Both of which we have a next to zero chance of qualifying for this year.

  36. In today's college football world where your entire roster (or a significant part of it) may change over every two years, I'm not sure "buying into what is being built" is going to be the difference maker it used to be. By the time they fully buy-in, they will move on to their next stop on the college football carousel.

  37. But that’s part of the failure. All this should have been implemented in Spring practice. I believe the most important step to make when establishing your culture is the first one. He already said he didn’t do it fully like he has done before. To me, that’s a massive failure which perpetuates itself from the start of the season on. Now you have to re-instill your philosophy and belief system instead of fully game planning for your opponents. Maybe I’m just speaking out of anger and disappointment, but it’s tough to see through this. Some, if not many, seem fairly inexperienced running these units. I just hope these mistakes won’t carry over for the next 2-3 years. By then, that may be too late for Morris.

  39. It did produce wins against a conference full of teams that should have likely been in a lower division. I did love the solid RB's that we always have here. But his offense was consistently out-coached and massively imbalanced outside of the mcneese states of our conference. Our offense, while good in running, still was quite poor overall save for a few years we had mediocre output. 2000: 111 2001: 81 2002: 101 total offense 2003: 54 2004: 53 2005: 113 2006: 115 I wouldn't describe that as solid by any stretch.

  40. youre awesome....and i can speak my mind because you are my friend. sorry if i came off hard, just didnt understand the hatred after a good game by the team. ya, they lost, ya they gave up 400 yards, ya rogers messed up twice, ya the coaches messed up, but they had a chance to win and held a good offense to just 27. north texas should win any game they allow 27. as somebody said earlier, maybe i should just stick to tailgating. i saw plenty of good, but i dont pay attention like many of yaĺl do. be good, stay safe out in the world, and we will have beer when ya make it back home.

  43. It's been a little quiet on this lately, hopefully things are still moving in a positive direction. I attended the two Army games at West Point and attended the Navy game this past weekend at the Naval Academy. All were very memorable, but seeing a North Texas flag flying above the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium as a conference mate was pretty special. Hopefully, we'll see one flying above Michie Stadium in the future and both flying above DATCU stadium.
