Highest ranked defensive signing for the Mean Green. I'm pumped for this signing. It's been mentioned several times, but he should compete for playing time immediately. Obviously rankings don't matter once you step on the field. However, he played and dominated at the highest level of HS Football in Texas.15 points

I don't think it can be overestimated how great it is to have landed kids from: - SOC - Guyer - Shadow Creek - Aledo - North Shore Just getting our staff known in the hallways of these schools is a win. These are teams that have challenged for (or won) a lot of titles in the past few years, so these are kids that know how to win.14 points

Hats off to this staff. They did a remarkable job getting local and instate kids to sign here. The transfer portal additions were solid as well. I'm ready for the spring game now!10 points

I am shocked Wilson is available even as a PWO. That kid had a Monster career, and a senior season for the record books. SENIOR STATS ONLY Passing stats 4,143 yards, 72% completion, 50 TDs, 4 INTs Rushing stats 407 yards, 8 TDs10 points

Yes—yes, I am. He has work to do on looking off safeties and going through progressions at the college level. But when asked to work on ball security from his junior to senior year he dropped his ints from 18 (this is what I think led to many not recruiting him) to 4. All while increasing yards, attempts, completions and TD’s (50). This POW is low risk high reward. If he can’t progress then no harm no fowl, I think at least one QB leaves for the portal after spring practice.9 points

If we DO by chance get Starling..... This staff truly deserves the world. They have been absolutely GRINDING in just a matter of weeks. They have bought in solid talent on all sides of the ball PLUS retained a majority of our current roster which says something! I feel great things are still on the way.8 points

We are a quality school with a lot to offer. Maybe our new coaching staff has finally found a way to communicate that.7 points

We were saying the same things on SL's first signing day: https://247sports.com/college/north-texas/Season/2016-Football/Commits/ Looking forward to finding out who of this year's class is going to be the next Mason Fine, LaDarius Hamilton, EJ Ejiya, Rico Bussey, Khairi Muhammad, etc... That was a pretty special class!6 points

I really appreciate how basketball took this Thursday off allowing us to focus on NSD for a couple of days prior to getting back to bball. Love how these coaches support each other.6 points

If you scroll down this list.....it says that Keith Smith and Starling have both signed with NT: https://www.dallasnews.com/high-school-sports/football/2023/01/31/see-the-hundreds-of-dallas-area-athletes-who-are-signing-a-national-letter-of-intent/6 points

11 days between his commitment and this video posting. Spencer Sanders committed the day before Deshawn, and he's in there... Interesting.6 points

Damn. We lost them ALL to transfer and have to start from scratch with a team of student walk-ons? Holy Odus Mitchell, Batman!6 points

This take needs to be addressed, as good as it is for the kid, the ratings really don't mean anything in terms of ability. Just some predictions as to their success probability at the next level, and beyond. Once he steps foot on campus no one in that LR will give 5 bags of dog**** what he was rated or who offered him out of HS. They will be working to take the starting job, his job, or help the team compete to be in a position where they can win games. Don't get me wrong I am ecstatic that he is joining UNT and I believe he'll be a phenomenal safety for us. Just don't want people assuming because he is highly rated means he automatically jumps in and has to contribute.5 points

I don't want to put too much pressure on him (although I believe that he could handle it) but I believe that Jayven Anderson just might be our best defensive recruit since Mean Joe Greene. I hope that we publicize the hell out of his accomplishments. He could very well be a starter from Day 1, since (I believe) we've lost both starting safeties. I think that he is a safety because, even with the loss of our best linebacker in several years, that is still a stronger position than safety. We welcome you Jayven to what was formerly referred to as the P6 conference. We thank you for selecting us. It is players like you that can help us get to the next level. I like the "family" look that seems to be developing among this coaching staff and players. I think that you will like this university.5 points
