Reads are more about preparedness and your peripheral vision. Too be a good-to-outstanding QB you must have good-to-great peripheral vision. As much as I was unimpressed with Johnny Manziel in the one clip that I saw of him (I was however incredibly impressed with his WR corps) I was very impressed with his peripheral vision. On one play it appeared that he had eyes in the back of his head when he escaped being sacked. Timing is all about repetition.....eventually good repetition.........then, lots of it. In saying that, I am reminded of a marching band practice that I was part of whilst in HS. The practice seemed to be particularly grueling that evening, when our director called a temporary halt to it all. "How many of you believe the old saying "practice makes perfect" he asked. Well, we all thought that that was a safe thing to agree with, so we all raised our hands. "Well, you're all wrong" he yelled. :"Good practice makes perfect" he said, and then he declared that our practice was one of the worse he ever witnessed. We did better after that.4 points

Careful. I hear if you turn the bathroom lights off, stare in the mirror, and say Craig James 5 times, they'll reappear on our board.3 points

I wonder how many of the players at DBU would be at North Texas if we fielded a baseball team ?3 points

Eyeroll not from me. It wasn’t a big deal to me. I understood the why & was fine with it. But yeah, we’re in endemic state now after omicron. It did what all coronaviruses do. Mutate to find a sweet spot of high-communicability & low-morbidity… so it can stay alive & spread. Kill your host, you die too. Not a good strategy for viruses. Cheers!2 points

Yeah man I mean where are those smuT fans these days? They seem to have gone into hibernation lately 😂2 points

DBU started out as a Junior College in Decatur (DBC). Their old administration building is now the Wise County Heritage Museum. When they were in Decatur, they always had a pretty good BB team. I never heard that they played baseball.1 point

FAA controls airspace, so mask mandates on planes are perfectly fine? & seatbelts are still required on privately-owned tollways, right? Is it? Obviously any comparison can be nit-picked into “false equivalence”, but I think it’s pretty close. I mean, your 1st answer is fine, you’re consistent. But it’s still a good bar to compare.1 point

Hold on, are we talking about the school he went to…or the school he left?1 point

Good for him. But I can’t help but wonder if he ever tried talk them outta hats with camp logo on them, and insist the entire name of the camp is spelled out. ok, I’m done. I saw a window and had to jump through it .1 point

Maybe 1. I see one kid from Muenster, one from Coppell, one from Corinth, and one from Keller. So one of those might have wanted to stay (a little) closer to home. DBU has a history of good BB and UNT has a history of none. Why would any of the others on the roster come to NT?1 point

We can be cautiously optimistic, but with a heavy does of caution. Keep in mind a ton of that success Aune enjoyed was against dog shit competition and/or teams that just played very poorly.1 point

Who else is gonna taco bout the cabanas the kids relax in during free time at The Pines? (My favorite side note about this is a friend of mine (not a North Texas grad but been drug by us to games over the years) married a former counselor and he went to a fundraising dinner with her. He kept trying to figure out why he recognized RV and then sent me a joyous text I will cherish forever: "Damn it the goofy people from your school everyone joked about that seemed fake are now somehow infiltrating my personal life and marriage." GM is the basketball coach, not the director of communications for men’s basketball. I imagine most coaches can’t currently discuss the players they are recruiting. Maybe direct your questions about communications Here. Otherwise you could ask him yourself this summer at one of the coaches events. He’s extremely nice & approachable. In the mean time at this point, considering he’s reversed one of the worst, most embarrassing programs in history to become its greatest in such a short time I could give two shits what he thinks, says or does. He’s earned national respect of 99% of everyone else in college basketball that he actually knows what he’s doing. That’s more than good enough for me. Rick1 point

Does McCasland grant (pun) interviews with local Denton media? Would love to learn more about the off-season. What is he looking for? Is everyone coming back? What does he generally see in recruits that most other coaches don’t see? What are the goals for the coming season? Any top kids he’s in on that we may have heard of? Who is his favorite NBA player/coach? Any notable pre-season tournaments? If he were a tree, what kind would he be? We need more info than we are getting!1 point

Anybody know how many years he has to play? It would also be great if NT like some other schools would include eligibility information in the official roster.1 point
