Being a season ticket holder, I have never seen our court on TV. Getting to see it during the NIT....MAN, does it pop!! Great optics for the brand.7 points

People will be excited now. This program is going to very big places. I am very excited about it. Quite honestly MAc should be paid more than Littrell period. He has produced much more.6 points

To piggyback off of what Plumm said, not only does the Mean Green Nation need to show up for the first home game, we need to the whole season. I understand it's easy for me to say this since I live out of state, but I don't care. After winning a game in the NCAA Tournament, unless we have a dramatic cratering next season, we need to AVERAGE 6K+ fans at the Super Pit for the season. I don't care if we're playing an NAIA, WKU, or Texas A&M. The squad finally gave us a win in the Big Dance, they deserve the support.6 points

I'd be in for a contract modification to give A LOT more than that. NCAA tourney appearances and wins are worth much more than lower football bowl wins.5 points

Watching J Ham over the year I noticed something about our best LEFT handed guard. When he is in the lane pivoting around and goes to his right (sometimes) the person guarding him favors his right because most of the time they are guarding RIGHT handed ball handlers. Leaving his LEFT handed shot open. He really took advantage of this in his time with UNT. He will be remembered by us old MVC ex's with UNT playing the best teams around in the Snake Pit!5 points

When Nova kills their own players and blames it on being a drug dealer or allow rapists to play without any punishment, I’ll have a harder time picking a winner. But until then...4 points

I loved Reese 10x more than Mo. Just my IMO. Mo was a bigger scoring threat, but Reese's contribution was so much more than scoreboard points. much more. Just my IMO. Plus, never did I ever hold my breathe when watching Reese dribble. Couldn't say the same about Mo. My 0.02.3 points

I’ll piggyback on all of this to simply say that if this can’t get people excited about the program, especially if McCasland is still coaching here, to come and watch us play, then it’s probably just hopeless at this point to ever expect a decent crowd unless we play someone that people really care about. But I think this will be different this time—for some weird reason, I see him staying here for the next year or two, almost because there are any opening nearby to entice him to leave. He’s a Texas guy. And I don’t see anyone leaving the Texas Power schools or those in the AAC. Maybe SMU? But even that seems like it’s a stretch...3 points

I was trying to get Zach's mom to talk about that but... Zach has just so much time left with his KNEEs and he wants to play pro-ball. Probably in Poland they think. He has one of his knees wrapped now. He has problems with his knees and has dreams. Very smart man though as he had considered all his options and but after winning a game in the tournament I'd like to be Grant talking to them after a win at Lucas Oil Stadium!3 points

Did anyone else catch that he said “we know North Texas is not a basketball school” or something to that effect? That makes me question how much support he feels he really has, and whether that affects how long he stays. I feel like North Texas fans during the high points of athletics are like Americans during the World Cup. They come out of the woodwork and are super “into” their team...and then go back into hiding until the next one. I can only imagine that coaches, players, and recruits take note of this.3 points

I could see all of them coming back except Hamlet, due to the cases presented in this thread. The next question I have is will we land a big time transfer if a few of these senior opt out? I know little of the bb world but it's been a great few years to start learning to say the least3 points

Hoping we can use this thread as a catch to keep up with players transferring, declaring, or transferring to the other teams in CUSA. Marshall off to a bit of a rough start. If Kinsey leaves for the draft that’s 3 of their top 4 scorers gone, and Kinsey is being projected as a first round pick.2 points

That what UTA and a lot of other schools have thought. NCAA tournament hype is getting to all of us. Football drives the wagon in Texas.2 points

Reese is from South Carolina and his mother was hospitalized with covid at some point in the last year I heard coach Mac say. If he wants to be closer to home or at a high major program so be it, he helped us win two conference championships, win a tourney game and likely has his degree. No one should slander the guy. I really hope this isn't what Emmitt mentioned but my money is on that being the case as well. Let's just hope if coach does leave Wren Baker makes an even better hire next time. The "not a basketball school" comment caught me off guard as well.2 points

Just enjoy it for as much as possible. That’s the reality of being a fan of UNT football and basketball. When you have a good stretch of winning seasons, just take it all in.2 points

This is a reason we will lose him. Both he and his team should be playing in front of packed house at home. Granted this Covid crap has negative impact on it. His team are fun to watch and I love the players we have had under him. I will renew my season tickets and hope others will finally buy season tickets to the basketball games. We need to get more locals to the games, the t-shirt fans.2 points

He is the least ready and his degree plan is more difficult. If he leaves he leaves but of anyone that should stay it would be him. Bell as well to an extent.2 points

Lifer I hope you’re not dishing Dallas because he’s one the best football and everything UNT supporter this school has ever had with money, attendance and working for the school. My apologies in advance if that wasn’t your intent.2 points

I don't know how many of us were around when the NCAA tournament regional (and UNT) was in OKC for the KState matchup. But, if you haven't been and we have an opportunity to go again - just go. It is one of the best events in the country to go to. The fans from every school are some of the nicest people you have ever met, and it's because everyone knows anything can happen. One thing I was curious about this year, since I didn't get a chance to go, was whether or not your ticket got you a "session" (2 games) or just 1 game?2 points

If we averaged 8000 or more at the Pit, the basketball coach probably would make more than the football coach, just on the number of games hosted.2 points

Abou is the future, but he is still a little raw and has 4 years left. Another season off the bench would only benefit him and give him 3 years to start. I believe Zachs graduation plan has him here longer if he wishes due to the classes. His parents are pro education and it would be beneficial for him to have another year on the court and work his way into the masters program for engineering. I don’t know about anyone else’s academics but Bell and Reese are toss ups. With another year Bell in particular could increase his stock for playing overseas. Hamlet would be Eric met back with open arms but I hope he tries to go pro (and doesn’t move to another school for a final run.2 points

No matter what the players decide to do, as long as NT can keep Mac; NT will be in great shape. I am sure Baker has a plan for every contingency. NT's brand (I hate that term) is on the rise. This is the start of great things, not the end.2 points

Grant is going to be getting a huge check to stay here I hope. He better be the highest paid so we can keep him. He has earned it.2 points

Do any of these seniors stay for another year, and if not who does McCasland restock the cupboard with?1 point

You get the feeling, Tom, that this story is being repeated with UNT fathers & daughters all over the North Texas Metroplex. It certainly is with the father & son from the Hamlet family. Such good times. ❇️🦅❇️ GMG!1 point

They also made sure to split up all of the UNT fans and spread them out around the arena. Friday night we were all mainly in two sections next to each other.1 point

Love the positive spin of this CBS-11 video coverage. (Now 300,000 DFW UNT alums)? 😱 •••Did all this hasten the Super Pit 2.0 project across the interstate near Apogee? ❇️🦅❇️ Keep the Dream Goin’ Forward, Coach Mac & Team! We can’t get enough! Next year UNT students & Mean Green fans will fill the Super Pit for the first home game. ______________________ ••• 🔺When Hofheinz Pavilion (10K) became the Fertitta Center (7K+). Methinks this is how we (annually) get to the next level in recruiting with a rebuilt Super Pit or (preferably) a brand new one near Apogee Stadium. ❇️🦅❇️ GMG!1 point

I am trying to tryout! Yet I have heard no announcement from UNT about tryouts. @UNTFOOTBALL you need to open the tryouts back up this spring/summer.1 point

This is going to have me on edge and probably be the conversation I have at work for the next few weeks to months. My gut tells me Hamlet is done (he is an old senior), Reese and him are very close so that may impact his choice but he could really benefit from another year to resume build for playing over seas. Bell needs to come back to continue to work on his offense/ outside game. He greatly improved from last season, but can get better. Simmons is the most likely to return. He has been here the longest and is an engineering major which could see him taking some more advanced classes or wanting to continue and get his masters. We will have Jackson (sophomore), McBride (Junior), Jones, Freshman, Robinson (Freshman), Osume (freshman) and Lewis (Junior) all returning. A few of them could be huge for us next season and they all have at least 2 seasons left due to the covid/waiver rulings.1 point

I agree Mac should be paid, but that is a poor comparison when you factor in the revenue produced by both programs. Glad ol' @DallasGreencould show up, zero comments about the Purdue game and bitch about salaries. Some things never change. We have a few posters that will not comment, but if there is a loss or something doesn't work out to their satisfaction, then here they come.1 point
