Congratulations Steve Sarkisian. You are now another in a long line of Texas coaches to be paid top dollar, given an almost unlimited budget...and able to watch OU win conference titles while you enjoy unwarranted top 25 rankings and 7-9 win seasons.8 points

Lovejoy finally lost tonight in the 5A D II state quarterfinals. UNT’s own Brandon Jackson and Marcus Trice did a great job on the coaching staff leading these young men on an undefeated season up to this point. Bummer.5 points

Personally, I hate to see anyone lose their job but this has to be done and it is part of the profession they chose as a career. I hope he finds success in the future. Now let’s go get us a DC that is experienced, runs an aggressive scheme and is adept at making in game adjustments.5 points

5 Things I was hoping the new DC would have. 1. DC experience 2. Success at FBS level as a DC 3. TXHSFB ties 4. Shown an ability to make adjustments. 5. Head Coaching experience I am hearing and I have confirmed with multiple sources Seth has singled in on his top target. He has already met with the candidate. The target checks all 5 boxes on my wish list. Sounds like this will come down to can we out bid his current employers.4 points

This reminds me of Auburn's recent firing/hiring. Paying a ton of money to fire a coach who has done a decent job to hire someone else who could easily be a downgrade.4 points

I assume this is a reference to the desire for a 4-man front and not some sex slang like a rusty trombone. EDIT: still really hoping football-related 🤣4 points

I'd like for UNT to take a look at Ron Collins. He seems to have a lot of the qualities we are looking for in a DC. Big time experience as a DC at Colorado. G5 success as a DC at Boise State. He is currently the DC at Ohio, where his 2020 defense held opponents to just 16.7 points per game (10th in the nation), and 389 yards per game. Of course Ohio only played 3 games this season. In 2019, his first season as DC at Ohio, his defense allowed 27 points per game and 401.5 yards per game. Ohio University (ohiobobcats.com) The MAC programs are poor. Certainly we could pay more. I'd look at the USA Today salaries, but they aren't including the G5 programs this year.4 points

Still 1 more round until the state championship. I hate HP, so I’m happy for Ryan!4 points

It’s college sports. If our players aren’t performing, the blame should always be on the coaches. Are the players not good enough? Then our coaches should have recruited better players. Are they too small or slow? Then our S&C coach isn’t getting results. Are the players not being developed well as football players? Then our position coaches aren’t doing their job. Having the 3rd worst defense in the country is evidence someone isn’t doing their job as a coach, and it’s on the head guy to figure out who that is. Something had to change.4 points

Let's see .. many of us have been yelling for seth to do this. Now he has. I'll give him credit for that.4 points

I think I have found our DC.... He was LA Tech DC in 2019 for their 10-3 season when they beat Miami (the U) in the Independence Bowl (They beat us 52-17 in Ruston that season). He has also been a DC at Notre Dame, Nebraska, Cincinnati, Central Michigan, and Purdue this past season. Daico also won the Broyles award when he was the DC at Notre Dame. Plus, he played for Hayden Fry at Iowa. Thoughts? Bob Diaco - Wikipedia He was suggested by an LT fan on the conference board.3 points

Think about how strong high school football is in the metroplex. If you're Trinity and you want to win the state title this year, your path is Allen...then Southlake Carroll...then the winner of Duncanville/Desoto...then a state final against Galena Park North Shore or Cibolo Steele or Austin Westlake3 points

First we had Holgorsen committed, then he decommitted. Then we almost landed Chase Griffin but he chose UCLA. Kuehne was the most logical realistic choice at that point and he committed shortly after we moved our focus from Griffin to Kuehne. Kuehne was offered by Maryland, Arkansas State, and New Mexico so he was a legitimate G5 QB prospect, irrespective of the familial relationship.3 points

Mike Stoops would be a good choice. Currently an analyst at Alabama. His years at Oklahoma should give him familiarity with recruiting in the State of Texas.3 points

You don’t turn down a 4 star QB ever. 500 yards of offense... how much of that was in junk time? I like bean and aune. But I believe a true competition this spring. Let best qb have the reigns. Build offense around them. 2 completely different qbs. We ran the exact same offense for both. Mistake imo3 points

Herman was only at Texas for 4 season. In that time he went 54-22 with 4 bowl wins... and it wasn't good enough to keep his job. Plus, it will cost Texas $24 million to push him out the door. I love their commitment to high standards. But, I agree. Sarkisian isn't going to get them Big12 championships, and certainly not playoff appearances. They should poach Matt Campbell from Iowa State.2 points

I am going for "working out". We are on our 3rd DC in 3 years, Littrell is in a "make or break " year, and I am afraid that combination will scare the most qualified candidates . As pointed out by another poster, the coaching community operates on a "buddy system" and Seth may be out of friends.2 points

Well, the Alliance of American Football went broke in 2019 and so did the World League of American Football several years earlier and the USFL before that. That’s because minor league football doesn’t work. You know what does work? College football. And why does it work? It’s not because of Justin Fields or Trevor Lawrence. Those guys are just replaceable parts that come and go. The value in college football is the PASSION and LOVE that people feel towards Ohio State and Clemson. The school spirit and the interest that creates. I don’t care for Texas or OU but I watch every time they play because it’s a big deal and not to see Sam Ehlinger or Spencer Rattler. Eliminate the current 10,000 scholarship FBS football players and plug in the next best 10,000 in their place and no one would know the difference. You would still have sold out stadiums and record TV ratings. If those guys want to get paid to play football before they are eligible for the NFL, let them go play somewhere that is not affiliated with a college and see how much money they make. It will be less than the value of a football scholarship.2 points

Scott Symons - Liberty He’s a local guy and has recruited Texas for a few different schools. Younger guy on the rise. It would be a lateral move but maybe you could sell him on coming home. Had Liberty 13th in total yards and 22nd in scoring defense. This guy is going to be a head coach someday if you look at his career trajectory. Would be a great pickup if you could convince him to leave a better program.2 points

Agree. Plus it’s not like most on here are asking us to field the 2002 Mean Green defense. Just something that resembles mediocre and give our offense enough stops to win games.2 points

UAB had an one woman team, who scored I think 35 pts. Townley who always has a good defensive, rebound game, had a great offensive game. My bias view had NT as the much better team, they should win tomorrow. Noble had the numbers, but not a great shooting game. Boyd won the games with her drives to the basket, they could not stop her. NT also managed to handle UAB big girls that maybe hard to duplicate tomorrow.2 points

Here's a thought - We know the defense was bad, very bad, this year. It's over and the DC is gone. Not really sure the use in continually posting how bad we played and how the coaching sucked. everyone knows. One of the great things about being a college fan is the chance to be optimistic that things can be better, especially with coaching changes. Time to embrace the possibilities.2 points

With the financial impact of Covid and the budget issues, sadly, a lot of players around the country will probably be "encouraged" to move on at many schools. Question - If a school has a lot of players stay next year how does this count when it comes to Title 9?2 points
