While recruiting is on a halt right now, the transfer market is heating up. No one has announced intentions to transfer from UNT, but many players have elsewhere. Here are a couple lists: https://watchstadium.com/college-basketballs-2019-20-midseason-transfer-list-10-31-2019/amp/?__twitter_impression=true http://verbalcommits.com/transfers/2020 We only have two spots remaining at the moment but I think it’s very likely that we would find room if the right guys came available. Here are some guys who I particularly like: • Hayden Koval, JR C Central Arkansas. 7 footer originally from Prosper. I think he’d be a great fit with very good shot blocking and solid 3-point shooting ability. Not sure if he’d be eligible immediately as a grad transfer or if he’d have to sit a year. Not super confident he could fit next to Simmons. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/hayden-koval-1.html • Morris Udeze, SO F Wichita State From Houston. Think he’d have to sit a year. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/morris-udeze-1.html • Cory Hightower, SO F Presbyterian Think he’d have to sit a year. Likelihood seems low but I think he’d be a good fit. Leading scorer and rebounder from Presbyterian. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/cory-hightower-1.html • EJ Anosike, GRAD F Sacred Heart Another low likelihood here, but he’d be the best rebounder we’ve had under Mccasland. Not sure he’s enough of a shooter to be a perfect fit at the 4 for Mccasland, but he was a very productive player in the NEC. 15.7 points/11.6 rebounds a game last year. Also a consistently good free throw shooter for his career. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/ej-anosike-1.html • Gerrale Gates, SO F New Orleans 6’6” 250 post who was Southland Freshman of the Year in 18-19. Seems kind of like the player we wanted Jahmiah Simmons to be. Also not much a three-point shooter so maybe not a good fit at the 4 here, but he is also a good free-throw shooter. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/gerrale-gates-1.html • Ben Pyle, SO F Western Illinois A little light at 6’7” 185 lbs but he would come in and be likely the best shooter on our roster, and he’s a decent rebounder as well. 12.3 points/5.3 rebounds a game last year and shot 43% from three on a whopping 5.7 attempts per game. Also just shy of 90% from the free-throw line. Again, another long shot but good fit. https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/players/ben-pyle-1.html4 points

Those later years of the Dickster and Ramon Flanagan just running an offense to finish the game as fast as possible, while sitting in Fouts, were just brutally boring. Of course, in true UNT fashion, our next coach couldn’t stop a YMCA offense, and our next coach literally lost his mind to the point of losing the worst game in modern college football history. Almost makes Seth’s 4-8 season look ok by comparison....3 points

Seems they’ve been caught juicing the numbers. UTA’s nursing program somehow is ranked top 3 in the state or so...goes to show these rankings can be bought or fudged. 🤨2 points

I believe the actual language in his contract is to ‘participate in the NCAA tournament’. That we didn’t do.1 point

FFR you beat me to it about Coach Fry and I don’t care where you were before as long you help my alma mater🦅1 point

This is going to be especially hard on us because we need to get another QB(s) ready to go. Maybe the conference would allow a mini-camp during the summer like the NFL does. Now that we have an indoor facility, that wouldn't be such a heat-related hardship. Even if we have another summer like 1980.1 point

If you were the boss, and you set a sales goal for your sales force, and they goal was unattainable because of something out of everyone's control, like the Corona virus, would you award your sales staff a bonus ? Many people are unable to work their full jobs right now (airlines, hotels, restaurants. etc). I can't imagine everyone gets paid based on what "probably" happens, or "I'm sure they're going to win" assumptions. A base salary of nearly $700,000. is not the end of the world.1 point

Yeah you are right... he doesn't make enough and we should just give him a bonus to a thing we didn't participate in even though that was a stipulation for the very bonus we are discussing. I love the dude.. but he is about to get a much bigger payout than giving him an undeserved bonus because he is about to get a raise and an extension. He will be more than fine.1 point

Everything I'm hearing from online from scientists in epidemiology/virology is that 12-18 months is probably best case. There are no vaccines yet - there are vaccine candidates, some of which are in early testing. Those have to go through a lot of testing before being proven to be both effective and safe. Then once that happens it has to be produced. Don't expect a vaccine until at least 2021.1 point

He should get the NCAA bonus of $25,000. The CUSA tournament was cancelled granting us the automatic bid. Put up the banner and pay the man.1 point

Worked another 24 hour shift among millions yesterday. Everyone seemed to be moving about, going to work and doing their thing. Some good news on the research & findings towards a cure and prevention of covid19. The FDA and CDC hope to have a vaccine within a few weeks or less. Research using a combination of Chloroquine and Azythromiacin is showing promise in speeding up recovery and possibly a preventative? An interesting read on one of the clinical trials on that https://www.covidtrial.io We may be able to obtain tests readily enough that we’ll be able to test ourselves at home as early as next week? That would be incredible if the suppliers can pull that off? We’re gonna get through this. Rick1 point

I wish you’d quit bitching about Trump. You did your best in the basketball threads too to bitch. The man has tried to close our borders for over three years and got nothing but negative criticisms. Then he was ahead of everyone state side in shutting down travel to China,..again, nothing but negative criticism. The guy has plenty of room for criticism but protecting American interests from the flu ain’t one of them. If you want to bitch about Trump please start a separate thread on it. Rick1 point

I feel like Wren Baker will reward McCasland. If he doesn't I'm sure some school will!0 points

I'm sure Wren Baker is looking forward to your $25k check to cover that bonus! On behalf of all Mean Green fans everywhere, thanks for stepping up Deep!0 points

Why. There was no tournament to grant Grant... Why pay a 'getting us to the NCAA tournament' bonus when he didn't get us into the NCAA tournament.0 points

McCasland’s contract also calls for a $10,000 bonus for earning a bid to the NIT. UNT earned a berth to the NIT by winning the C-USA regular season title. We should play this NIT bonus. McCasland would have added to his bonus earnings had the Mean Green enjoyed success in the postseason. His contract contains a $25,000 bonus for winning the conference tournament and earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. We should not play this NCAA bonus.-1 points
