Anyone have any more info on this? I was poking around looking for new articles on Mason and I came across this interesting bit of news. The film festival is in Denton in April. https://www.tulsaworld.com/communities/skiatook/news/osiyo-voices-of-the-cherokee-people-showcasing-special-features-at/article_4f46b2a9-dad3-56a2-8b89-14b396420d5a.html From the article: "The producers of Cherokee Nation’s Emmy award-winning documentary series, “Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People,” have been selected to screen their short films at several major film festivals in 2019. What began as a monthly, 30-minute news magazine-style program in February 2015 has morphed into a weekly show and reshaped the way the tribe shares about its history, language, culture and people. Now Cherokee Nation is sharing those stories as individual short documentaries, competing in film festivals across the globe. The series, and the short documentaries within it, has earned numerous regional, national and international accolades, including five Heartland Regional Emmy awards and most recently Best Short Documentary at the LA Skins Fest, which featured more than 70 Native American, independent productions representing hundreds of reservations, nations and tribal organizations."3 points

As a father of two softball players, I love seeing all this interest in softball. Thanks for the updates Rick. I’m “watching” the game on the stat broadcast.3 points

We should not even bother recruiting Tyler Lee. Jeff Traylor's little brother is the head coach, and he sends most of his recruits to Arkansas. Last year, we were on that Beaux Limmer kid before any other school, and then here comes Arkansas sniffing around.2 points

Added an Army offer. Perhaps a good sign that at the very least he likes wearing green:2 points

This was a hell of an entertaining game despite the loss, 7 home runs total, five by NT on a frigid (32 degrees when I got back to my truck) night the north wind was screaming out to center field. Problem is we kept hitting solos. Twice Makawe was standing on deck while we had runners on base only for the inning to end, ...then she stepped in the box the next inning and hit bombs. No doubt it would have been different if the nation’s hit leader had been in the lineup. Still it was also a night everything just went uta’s way along with untimely errors. Especially in the first two innings that saw them go up 4-0. I counted at least 3 hits that cueballed off the bat and didn’t get 15 feet from the plate. Just those squirrelly spinning balls right on the line that died and no one could do anything with them. We also had a Pop fly that hit dirt we lost in the wind and a bunt and throwing error to first. I can’t help but feel the cold played a part but that’s baseball. UTA is good, and deep at pitcher. The pitcher that got the win tonight is maybe their 4th pitcher and one of two freshmen they have from California. And that’s another thing to take from this game is their stud didn’t get the win and ours didn’t get the loss. BTW, just in case you think UTA isn’t serious about softball. Pretty damn nice for a little sister school. Rick2 points

Parker County’s finest Rhylie Makawe hit a solo bomb that still hasn’t come down. 5-4 Mean Green. BTW Katie Clark is out of the lineup tonight. Rick2 points

Only one I take issue with is FAU. UNT should be at least 4th on that list. Big potential and financial commitment from the current admin could bump it up higher depending on how that's factored in.1 point

Nice! I’m about to sign my 2-week old up for the Scrappy Squad. Admission to college is a little bit down the road. But it will almost certainly be NT. Hopefully!1 point

Fantastic! Congrats! Great to see our Alums instilling the Mean Green spirit into their offspring. Way way too many of our Alums kiddos head off to "other places". And, yes, full disclosure here, mine did...a U.S. Military Academy, so I plead for understanding. And, yes, I do understand the multitude of legitimate reasons why some kiddos head elsewhere, but when we can...LongJim has the right idea. Ha! Way to go LongJim!1 point

The festival has both feature length and short films, but their website doesn't have the films that will be there listed yet, so it could just be a short documentary or it could be feature length. If it's a short, I'm wondering if it is this, which has been available to view for a while:1 point

If I'm a head coach I look at recruiting, school administration, facilities, and salary for me and my staff. Consistency and winning tradition only goes so far. It's a what-have-you-done-lately that matters to recruits. FAU has no tradition and no fan support. La Tech is in the middle of no where. So Miss can't pay their coaches. Marshall has to rely on questionable "students" to compete. The top three jobs are probably us, La Tech, and Marshall. Honestly, if all CUSA teams were trying to hire the same head coach, who would that coach pick? Right now it would be very difficult for that coach to pass on North Texas.1 point
-
You think so? I could maybe contend with FAU, but LaTech, SoMiss, and Marshall all have much more consistency and tradition in winning than we do. I think we're about right. If Baker can keep the train rolling after Seth I might start to move us up more, but we just don't have the consistency yet.1 point

I am a big fan of using tight ends as a piece of the puzzle and truly wish we would utilize our tight ends more in the offense...I think Mason would run the bootleg pass to the tight end well for a TD most every game instead of us trying to run it over the middle on third and 3-4 for inside the ten. Just me. I like tight ends...hello Jason Whitten!1 point

that's like saying the regular games are pointless and they don't try, teams only try in games that may matter...all games matter was the atm victory in pool play or semis?1 point

We had approximately 150 UNT Alumni, students and staff visiting the capitol and individual representative and senator offices for the first time ever! This was the first ever UNT Day at the Capitol and I was very happy to have been part of the day. We were very well received in most every office we visited and a couple of the offices my team visited mentioned what a big impact we made gallery during the day's opening ceremonies with all our green AND in the number of people we had on hand. A very special day for UNT and I would encourage anyone who can to be part of this UNT Day event during the next session in two-years.1 point

Certainly a concerning trend of late season slumps. I have no idea what happened at Arkansas State. Last year we seemed to run out of gas after a string of close games. Got a couple of players healthy for the CBI and won it. This year losing Duffy and then Woolridge Wasn’t helpful. Most teams in the country would notice a difference losing those contributions. At this point we just need to get healthy and win the CUSA tourney like we did the CBI last year.1 point

So are we not getting Fluffy or Simmons back until the tourney or what?1 point
