Yah, pretty naive. Bet if your kid or grandkid was a 1st or 2nd round grade and had guaranteed $$ on the table your tune would be a little different. Seen too many kids that were those high grades get hurt playing in the potandteakettle bowl that meant nothing and lost everything. If college football could figure out a way to expand to 16/32 team playoff then you’d see less of this IMO, but the pointless bowls will continue to produce guys that sit out because they don’t want to possibly impact a family changing amount of $.8 points

DRC: UNT track coach Carl Sheffield, soccer coach John Hedlund talk about difference venue will make https://www.dentonrc.com/sports/north-texas-nearing-completion-of-new-soccer-track-stadium/article_313e86ff-f9b0-55f7-89ea-309f72255966.html4 points

I don't blame the kid. Play in a meaningless Peach Bowl that people will not remember with the risk of getting hurt, or sit out and protect your draft stock.4 points

I thought it was a joke. Yikes how embarrassing to be that delusional But seriously, why would UH settle for Holgerson? Why not go get Lincoln Riley or Nick Saban or Dabo Sweeny?3 points

I can’t believe people complain about too much college football. I just can’t...I’m a junkie and love all of them. Will watch lower level playoffs, will tailgate at a spring game. Eat drinks sleep college sports and tomorrow old trafford. I do football 🏈 and futbol ⚽️. GMG3 points

On the other hand, an outstanding performance may increase their draft stock, and so much for the concept of team ball.3 points

Risk millions of dollars and your family's future on a exhibition game? No thanks. If people don't like it, then raise the stakes of these bowl games; create a real championship.3 points

This the guy the Mac and gang didn't recruit, right? Did he play in high school almost in Denton? No wonder Portland State destroyed us.3 points

The venue looks great. If we are looking for something to complain about, having a track around the soccer field isn’t exactly ideal, but that would be the only thing. I do hope that in the longer term the soccer team gets its own standalone venue.3 points

This will be the story of the season. It will cause foul trouble, however the coaches knew this early and said it would happen at the football games up top. They adjust with depth, fronting, and playing heavy D off the call. The players have bought into it.2 points

Simple solution, if you think there are too many bowl games, just don't watch them. It is fairly simple to identify the bowls that have the top teams and those that don't. There may not be much prestige in getting invited to a lower level bowl, but it easily beats staying at home. As far as upping the necessary win total, never going to happen. As much as I hate the P5 mentality, there is no logic in making a 6-6 SEC team stay home and having a 7-5 Belt team in a bowl. I was around to see a 10-1 Fry NT team sit home as well as some very good NT teams of the late sixties. Yes, those were the good ole days, when bowls were more exclusive.2 points

He’s already a millionaire whose current value isn’t dependent on top physical prowess. College players transitioning to the NFL have such a small window to make it happen. Even then, the average NFL career is like 2-3 years. Make your money while you can. School spirit and all that is great, but at a certain point you have to make a business decision.2 points

If you were graduating with a degree and were guaranteed a job after graduation with a good salary, would you re-enroll for 3 more hours just for the heck of it? Not quite the same thing, and I struggle with the letting down your team aspect, but a head coach would leave in a heartbeat to take advantage of more $ with less to lose.2 points

Jaylon Smith changed my mind about this. These kids' have an opportunity to set their families up in perpetuity. That's a lot to risk for an exhibition.2 points

Good, I never liked him based off his comments about Fine while we were playing Troy.2 points

Auburn under Malzahn has been doing the huddle for years. They call it a muddle huddle. We run too many power plays in these situations, almost exclusively. We can't do that. It's slow developing and leaves a hole unattended due to a pulling tkl or guard. The pulling lineman is also a huge key read for defenses. Also doesn't help we do it almost in all short yardage situations, so the D knows it's coming.2 points

Concur. I didn't want to weigh in when I read this earlier, lest I start a shitstorm of comments. I just have to agree with you and say that I was disgusted and sickened beyond words.2 points

Over the years I have tracked the offer lists of our signees and compared classes based on those offer lists. I came up with a letter grade scale based on how many FBS offers each signee had and who offered them (P5 vs G5). C means we were the only FBS offer for that signee, C+ is one other FBS offer, B is two to four other FBS offers, B+ is two to four but with a P5 offer, A is five to nine other FBS offers, A+ is 10 or more other FBS offers. I finally made a spreadsheet to archive it all, as Scout was bought by 247 so some of the profiles I used to see all of the offers are gone, and it’s becoming harder to access older profiles and articles in general. Anyways, here are a couple of charts showing a few things from the 2011-2019 classes. The first chart shows what percentage of the class had a “B” or better offer list (at least two other FBS offers). The second chart shows what percentage of the class had an “A” or better offer list. The last chart is based on a points scale I created where each G5 offer is worth one point and each P5 offer is worth 1.5 points. The last chart shows how many points each class accumulated in total between all of its signees.1 point

Would be a nice grab but I say there's a minimal chance of him coming here since he's from CA https://247sports.com/Player/Cameron-Rising-86414/high-school-156537/1 point

I could. But I’m not going to. Too many other factors, plus I’m strictly focusing on evaluating recruiting and quality of signees that we are bringing in. Not evaluating the quality of job that we are doing in developing and retaining these players.1 point

Agreed. This was maddening. We didn't have the line and our QB and RB, albeit very tough, they're small. So if we cant have power, lets at least build up some speed before jumping on the On-Ramp. I would scream SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!!!!" on these plays, but nope, always up the gut into a brick wall, rarely punching through...1 point

I'd say we should just simplify it down to "The Pit", rather than trying to name it the "Mega Pit" or something, but now that I know that there are other schools (at least UNM) which call their BB venue "the pit", maybe we need to just wait for a new "organic" name after the place is built.1 point

We have some studs arriving at WR. I am also excited about Ward as long as his rehab goes as planned. Special players.1 point

Yep and Jackson is a stud on the other side of the ball. These two young men are talented. Excited to see them in green next year. Also, Shadow Creek had some big boys on the lines. I'd love to see Murray and Jackson recruit a few of those young men north.1 point
