Milton being left off this list is a crime. And no, I didn't expect the elitists to include a or the peasants. The entire college football model needs to be rewritten from the top down. We, as UNT fans, really needs to keep rooting UCF on. They are throwing a wrench in the fan and it's driving the hierarchy crazy. There has never been this much just discussion about expanding the playoff or G5 conversation in general until now. They are doing us all a huge favor.8 points

This. Seriously if you care about the top of CFB, this has been the most chalky and boring CFB season ever. And it feels like this is not an outlier, but rather just the formost example of something that is starting to become a rule. There is absolutely no indication that this season will see a playoff team that wasn't there before and rarely has it felt like such a smooth ride for the big teams (Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and your pick of Georgia/Michigan/Oklahoma/Ohio State). Its gonna cost CFB, because this -if it goes on- reduces fan engagement a ton.5 points

I think there should be a ceremony as a last goodbye. Have Joe Greene fire Boomer at the side of Fouts to mark the beginning of the end. As soon as the cannonball makes contact, Green Fireworks behind the stands shoot off. Do the entire thing at night. Something outta Vegas.4 points

Exactly. As I posted in the vote thread.... Murray built his reputation piling up stats for a high school program that has a pathetic level of advantages over everyone else. Then he goes to a (still at the time promising) A&M program under Sumlin, where he runs into his first taste of adversity and gets benched and bail’s on his team the week of their bowl game....as well as bailing on his baseball team. Then ransfers to the Allen High School version of college where everything once again is running smoothly and all in place for him to take over. Had things fallen apart at OU he would have bailed there too. Had he been at UCF in 2015 when they went 0-12 or in 2016 when they went 6-7 he would have bailed and never led them to their amazing 13-0 season as Milton did. Had he been at 1-11 or 5-7 NT in ‘15 or ‘16 he would have done the same and never seen a 9 win season as Mason Fine has. So yeah...let’s honor the spineless nancy with no character. I don’t know about the other two candidates but for the namesake of this award I hope Murray doesn’t get it because he doesn’t deserve it. Rick3 points

I'll bet he doesn't bother to slide at the end of a QB draw play!3 points
-
That was never a guarantee though. Mason & Milton were going to make it into the Semi-Finalist round anyway, because of how well they're playing (re: they deserved it), not because of voting. They were never, ever, ever going to make it to the Finalist round, because they're not the QB of Alabama or other top 10 P5 teams. I really hope those of you who spent countless wasted hours didn't actually believe you were accomplishing anything.3 points

If the same 4 teams keep getting into the CFP, then over time people will get tired of it. That’s why the NCAA Tournament is so much better. Not saying they need to expand the CFP that much but you have to mix it up a little. It’s getting boring. IMO3 points

If we get a nice lead against NutsaK, I would not be surprised to see Shanbour get in the game. This young man has been a trooper for the Mean Green. And with the game essentially on the line, what he did Thursday was amazing.3 points

Going independent will kill our athletics program. We'll probably have to drop to Southland level for everything other than football because I seriously doubt CUSA will let us stay around.2 points

Financially it probably keeps us from going down another level or moving the deck chairs around to merely be in another meaningless G5 conference. 👀 Look, I’m realistic enough to know there is no place for our favorite school at the P5 level now, but the journey of a thousand miles begins with that important 1’st step & our powers that be should not allow a school with our (amazing) constituency in the population center we are in to spend the next 30 years treading water at the G5 level. Begin a serious study now with Smatresk, the BOR’s, Wren Baker & the MegaDonors to see what other schools like Houston, Boise & BYU are going to do to get out of this non-revenue producing quagmire. Those 3 schools will not stay in the “all is hunky dory just fine” at the G5 level forever. GMG!2 points

The biggest winners in realignment were clearly Utah, Pitt, Louisville, Syracuse, and Rutgers. They moved up to conferences that are power leagues and aren’t in danger of folding. Next up, you had A&M and Missouri, who got in the premier money making conference with no instate competition. Then, Nebraska and Colorado moves from the uncertain Big XII to more stable conferences. Finally, you get TCU and West Virginia, sho both got big raises in revenues, but the Big XII’s instability doesn’t bode well for the long term. As for the biggest losers, it’s nit even close. UConn, Cindy, and USF all got screwed hard. Basically, they were the first collection of schools being left behind. Many of the Big XII will he next eyebrow their GOR expires. Then there’s the rest of us, at various levels of the G5 totem pole.2 points

Mason Fine's stats so far: 3414/25/4/63.9% Tua (I mean, let's face it...congrats to Murray & Minshew for being named "finalists", but the hype train is just too far gone on this guy): 2865/31/2/69.2% Kyler Murray: 3310/34/6/70.3% Gardner Minshew (The Pirate's QB): 4325/36/7/70.4%2 points

Radio in San Antonio said last home game had 16000 announced attendance but only 6,000 butts in seats. Might not matter where your ticket is. If we can bring 1,000 fans we might be the majority.2 points

All the talk now hasn't gained traction either, until it has. There was plenty of conversation before about what to do with TCU and Boise. Boise's coach got hired away after he figured out Boise would never be considered to be able to get into the talk. UCF is the new Boise and TCU. I'll believe it when I see it, because I've seen this before, and it ended with TCU being invited in and Boise's coach getting hired away. The only difference here is that UCF is the largest University in Florida. With the quantity of viewership and fans they have in a relatively empty sports market, they will be hard to ignore for a P5 conference looking for a Florida Market.2 points

The fact that CUSA TV money dropped to $200K per team(I think that’s correct) is all you need to know about our conference. Time to move on is possible.2 points
-
Hell yeah it's the truth. Bob Ross will laugh at that t.v. rating. Gotta get out of this conference as fast as possible. It's a joke and does nothing for the program except anchor it down to a couple hundred K in t.v. money....if we're lucky.2 points

If BYU and UNT play at Cotton Bowl I'll do every thing I can to be at this GAME. UNT lost games this year they should have won!!! However, can't cry to much over split milk. BYU is nationally recognized very good team. They will be a really tough match up for UNT!!! Only 6-5 currently, but they beat Arizona & Wisconsin!!! Wisconsin even having down year is a really good team year in year out. Wisconsin is always in the discussion for B10 championship. BYU lost to Boise St. only by 5 Pts.. This is the type of national recognition UNT needs and is looking for. Should be great attendance at Bowl game by both schools. TV ratings should be fairly good for this game. Based on all the bowl options and quality teams we could play P5 or G5 this is a great match up!!! Texas and OU play at Cotton bowl every year, so for UNT fans to complain about stadium is a bit odd considering everyone in the US knows the name "Cotton Bowl" and that carries a lot of weight. I couldn't tell you were the "Bahama's" Bowl is played or many other bowls are played either for that matter. If UNT plays BYU in Cotton Bowl everyone will take a least note of it because Bowl is played in the "Cotton Bowl". Go Mean Green!!!2 points

VOTED! THREE AND A HALF HOURS to go in Round 2, at this writing. Uncle Miltie has overtaken Mason and jumped back into First at 8,390 votes (34%); Mason Fine has slipped to Second at 7,331 votes (30%); and Gumshoe is Turd at 3,751 votes (15%). The respective vote gains in the last 24 hours were 3,117, 1,590, and 276. Uncle Miltie is up 1,059 votes on Mason !!! It looks like we are toast, but that didn't stop me from making the last great act of defiance...I voted. Thank you, Rick, and all the others who have been voting.2 points

TV seemed to think Bean. They showed a clip of him on the sideline. Honestly, I don't think there is a real "back up" qb. We needed to run the ball when Quinn went in, and we know he can run in the current offensive scheme. Bean is a mobile dude, but he hasn't executed the offense before in a real game with sbombs on the line(because apparently cursing is frowned upon), and with the game on the line, why not pick Quinn, who was obviously prepared for the opportunity? I wasn't listening to the radio so its interesting they keyed in on Pearson. What all this tells me is that the young guns are hungry for a chance, which is good. Hopefully next weekend, with UTSA's terrible offense, we will get to see someone other than Mason or Quinn.2 points

I really hope so. Having lived in KC for 2.5 years, I’ve done both KU Football and Basketball games. Beautiful school, fantastic town, really involved alumni. I’d really like to see the Jayhawks get back on track Football-wise. Plus they have a fun scoring tradition where they “wave the wheat”, but it kinda just looks like everyone is doing their best inflatable tube man impression, which is a hoot.2 points

They’ll be up for this game. Most of their team enrolled at UTSA with dreams of eventually going to college, so beating us will be a huge deal to them.2 points
