This isn’t always the case. I’m a senior now in the biology department and have had several professors who say a lot of good things about UNT. The Biology Department Chair (Dr. Art Goven III) talked about how well our basketball team was doing and encouraged people to go to the CBI games while I was taking his Immunology class. My genetics professor (a graduate of Harvard & John’s Hopkins) told us that he preferred it here over those schools basically because we’re less entitled. My Microbiology professor (Dr. Hughes) attends football games & basketball games. I’ve had GAs/GTs tell us to go to football games “because we aren’t bad anymore”. The perception is changing, but with any change, it takes time.6 points

Lets find the smallest high school available, and try to get NT a game there, were it would assure a sell-out. I don't understand your point at all, NT should strive to play in a venue that accommodates all fans that want to attend. Hoping to have 20,000 NT fans at Frisco vs 30,000 or more fans at the HOD bowl is questionable. Most fans can figure out that the relationship between stadium size and perceived attendance. If NT played at Frisco and sold it out, the response would be by the average college football fan; so what it is a tiny stadium.6 points

Interesting. Is the $300,000. that the City of Dallas reportedly did not pay represent the franchise cost of hosting a game at the Cotton Bowl on whatever day ? And if so, is that all the $300K gets you ? I wonder if ESPN provides any commercial time during the game for that fee. I remember when the RL Carriers New Orleans Bowl was broadcast, I saw RL Carriers ads that I'd never seen before. As if they were produced especially for the bowl game. Maybe we should have a GOMEANGREEN.com Bowl. We could have a helmet sticker booth and uniform talk booth and hire an airplane to fly around fussing about something.4 points

Wow! So Universities are Mortgage bankers now? I need to see if NT can beat my current rate so I can refi through them!4 points

I too am against that hire. They are however a more reliable source than Breitbart. Whataboutisms will get you nowhere in life. Back on topic which the aforementioned will not save you from: Let's just say hypothetically if Alex Jones goes beyond criticism to hit the hate speech level, encouraged harassment of Sandy Hook families such that his crazy fans stalked them and had them move 7 times, perpetuating Pizza Gate shenanigans, fanning a fake revolver and threatening someone, posted videos of children being thrown to the ground, and then once receiving a Youtube strike if he circumvents the ban the *perhaps* he could deserve removal based on a website's policies. Oh sh*t that all happened. My bad.4 points

Don't put words in my mouth boy. I can be against a hire and still know that one is a nationally relevant publication and the other is a fringe far right, wouldn't even call it conservative, blog. As far as proving Breitbart as a poor blog, it would take less time to list good articles than it would take to list articles with demonstrative untruths. Fake news is not unique to any part of the spectrum. Thirdly NYT hiring someone, with a past that they claim to be redeemed of, is different than a youtuber consistently breaking the published rules of a site in the present. If you think you have a target on your back you should not then go all in on rule breaking or you're just asking for it to happen. If a county gives out speeding tickets with zero tolerance for even 1 MPH over the while passing through would you drive 5 under just in case? Fourthly, the social media companies are still private businesses. They can do what they want and use their policies for their justification when they want. If they ignore their buddy's transgression then they can.3 points

Rick - you posted some screencaps of an anonymous post about Antifa in WA sabotaging the tracks. The anonymous post, was removed from the IGD site, because it didn't even get the facts straight. They claimed they sabotaged an area that was actually 15 miles away for the accident. The NTSB did not find sabotage as the cause, instead the train was going 80MPH in a 30MPH. So -- you know -- keep throwing up a twitter screencap and calling it real news and keeping the fear of the Antifa alive. Keep putting up memes with known false info (Hillary on Trump). Keep acting like that 'free speech' rally at UC was not chock full of white nationalists. That the poor innocent soul that got attacked was some church going poor lad that got hit with a bike chain while walking to the soup kitchen to volunteer. Because it's all fun! Solid! No one gets hurt!3 points

There’s a big difference between what we are saying - 30-40k in a 40-60k capacity - vs 70k empty seats. And I don’t believe we are anywhere close to those MAC crowds. now if all you want is one sold out game, okay then. Just know 1) you’re cutting ticket sales by 30+%, and 2) you’re probably not generating enough buzz to offset that potential revenue. Do you believe otherwise? I’m hard pressed to believe this shares the same psychological affect as Apple allocating supply for the latest iPhone release. we need to keep winning. The numbers and interest are already taking care of themselves.3 points

Per Footballscoop Offensive line coach Jamal Powell is out for a while with an undisclosed medical issue. We ask that you include him in your prayers for a successful recovery. We understand Powell is fighting an infection in his immune system. Sonny Dykes mentioned today he could miss the entire season; but is expected to return to the staff once available. Offensive quality control Johnny Brewer has been promoted to full-time offensive line coach in the interim. SMU has also added Zach Yenser to the staff as a consultant. Yenser previously worked with Dykes at both Cal and LA Tech.2 points

UNT should have their best team in decades. SMU lost Courtland Sutton, Trey Quinn, Justin Lawler and a bunch of other players. They have a brand new staff, playing their first game on the road, against a Mean Green team that hates them. If UNT doesn't beat SMU this year, I don't know when. I'll take the home team by 14.2 points

I think the structure distracts from the overall look of Ford, and fails to blend with the architecture. It also messes up some of the sight lines to the end zone. Not that they have fans sitting there. SMU has money. I'm surprised they couldn't design something nicer.2 points

I came across this article while nosing around on PonyFans. (I'll go to the clinic for a shot on Monday.) If you weren't already aware, it looks like in addition to the home opener being carried by Stadium on Facebook, the game will be carried locally on KTXD channel 47. Unfortunately this makes it even easier for lazy SMUt "fans" to stay in there homes like they normally do for games that are either 1) at home or 2) away. https://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college-sports/smumustangs/2018/06/07/kickoff-time-smu-unt-season-opener-announced #beatSMU1 point

DENTON - The Mean Green soccer team wrapped up its exhibition schedule on Sunday night at the Mean Green Soccer Complex with a scoreless half of play against SMU before rains came and the second half was canceled. The half the teams played was fairly uneventful, as SMU outshot the Mean Green 5-3 and had three shots on goal to UNT's two. Redshirt freshman goal keeper Kelsey Brann had three saves for UNT. https://www.gomeangreen.com/forums/forum/3-mean-green-athletics/?do=add1 point

I"m glad you asked. Mr. Sanbour threw a beautiful corner fade to White (#14 on your program) to give Mr. White two TD passes caught in the corner. AND, while I was discussing with another NT fan whom I had just met, that when I first noticed QS in practice, I didn't know that in addition to his throwing skills,, he was also fast. Almost on cue, Mr. Shanbour proceeded to take off on a 50yrd + touchdown run......with no one within 10 yards of him when he crossed the goal. The aforementioned fan turned around and said "you know, in the 30+ years that I've been a fan of NT, I've never seen us so deep at the QB position". I had to agree.1 point

1. FAU - at this point looms to be the favorite for the CUSA crown and maybe the best team on the schedule 2. Arkansas - I feel this is a winnable game that would do more than other to enhance NT's perception. 3. La Tech - A program that NT needs to start to dominate and should be very important in deciding the CUSA West champion. 4. SMU - Most important game for a lot of NT fans, but has little national importance especially being the first game. 5, UAB - Apparently a popular pick to win the West, should be a very competitive game 6. UTSA - For Texas CUSA championship 7. USM - Traditionally a very good program 8. ODU - Crossover game that NT should win 9. Rice - Looks like another down year for the Owls 10. Liberty - Will be better than most think 11. UTEP - Rated near bottom of most preseason polls for FB division teams, however seems to play NT very tough 12. Incarnate Word - Pay for win team1 point

I always find this academic point suspect. There is no real way to compare academics. So they rate colleges based on reported stats such as class size, endowment, published articles by faculty, selectively, entrance exam scores, etc. Many base prestige on costs to attend, thus private universities are assumed to be better places to gain an education. An assumption that has very little real support.1 point

1. UAB- I think this road game could decide who wins C-USA West. 2. LA Tech- This will probably be the toughest divisional home game this season. 3. SMU- We need to jockey ahead of the Mustangs this season. If we do, we could stay there for the foreseeable future. DFW will have a hard time ignoring that. 4. UTSA- I will never accept losing to them. 5. FAU- We can't get the crap beaten out of us for a 3rd straight game. 6. Arkansas- It would be a statement win on the road, and we could do it. 7. ODU- This will be a difficult trip to the east. 8. Southern Miss- Two in a row against USM sends a message. Being bowl eligible after week 7, sends a bigger message. 9. Rice- We should beat our conference mate from Houston. 10. UTEP- Going undefeated against the other C-USA Texas programs is important for recruiting, and UTEP is awful. 11. Liberty- Got to beat the new kid. 12. Incarnate Word- FCS program1 point

I walked by the ADs offices last week and saw this dude in the weight room area. They told me he made a significant contribution to help fund the expansion. He was laughing and seemed to be taunting this guy...said the guy reminded him of someone he knew a while back.1 point

I appreciate you taking it in stride. Was only offering up a suggestion. Just letting you know that for us not heavily into the recruiting scene a comparison or a bit of a description goes a long way. Keep up the great recruiting updates. Thanks, again.1 point

Thank you for the construction criticism I really appreciate it. It's hard giving an overview of a class that has 14 kids is tough. I was already at 1200 words so I was trying to cut down on breaking down each individual recruit. I didn't want some readers to get bored. The three players you wanted more info about. Will Kuehne is a converted safety. Can make every throw on the field you need to make. A student of the game. The athletic ability to play other positions than QB if needed. Jevin Murray has been described to me as a playmaker. He can be a CB or Safety at the next level. Can cover and not afraid to tackle. Demeco is a big bodied defensive lineman. That has raw athletic ability. Derrick Shaw was smaller but made up for it with technique. Demeco is the size Derrick lacked. But lacks the technique. One year with Yellock and he will be on the field like Novil this passed year. Let me know if you got any more!1 point
-
I'm ready and prepared to get dogpiled for this but..... This kind of info really tells me nothing- Kuehne is a very good QB prospect with a very bright future and a ton of potential Jevin Murray (Shadow Creek) is one of the top defensive backs in the state. He can be an instant contributor for defensive coordinator Troy Reffett’s defense. He comes from the same school as Derrick Shaw a defensive tackle signee from last year class that the staff is very excited about. Demeco is another guy with a lot of potential. This kind of info gives me something to work with- have versatility to play both linebacker positions and the potential to move down to defensive end. The fourth linebacker commit Kevin Wood (Judson) is listed at 6-0 200, and on film is a tackling machine with a nose for the ball. I appreciate all the info but tell me what/who I'm reading about. Who does he remind you of? What's your opinion of him? Where do you see him fitting in? What kind of player is he at the high school level? Telling me he's a three star with tons of potential doesn't help me much. Telling me he could be the next coming of Jonas Buckles makes me want fall camp to start tomorrow. Just a little constructive criticism and something to chew on. Again, love the recruiting info but it's hard for me to identify to a star rating and or "potential."1 point
