And neither of them was as good last season as Mason Fine, the C-USA offensive player of the year 2017. 13 QBs were drafted overall. Despite his small frame, if Mason keeps this productivity up, he will get drafted. He doesn't even need to improve much, he just needs to stay healthy. As an aside, C-USA had 10 players drafted. Obviously, that is just a snapshot, but that is twice as many as the MAC (5), and 3 times as many as the belt (3), and just a tad more than the MWC (9). Its a pity UNT couldn't get in on the party, but it is well on its way to getting there.5 points

He should have an easy adjustment, he was “Mr Irrelevant” to DFW football fans the moment he signed with SMU2 points

I think our history of poor coaching choices, lacking facilities, and lack of wins hurt our recruiting more than a lack of NFL draftees. Taking care of those will result in better talent being attracted, which is happening now, and that will lead to an end of this drought. If La Tech, UTSA, UTEP and Southern Miss are using that against us, I would counter with the fact that we beat all 4 last year.2 points

Honest question: do we have evidence of this, or is this just unfounded hyperbole/assumption being used to shock people and get them upset about a negative?2 points
-
Fine’s size will keep him from being drafted and even signing as a free agent in the NFL but his work over the next year along with the offense can put us on the map to recruit a future QB who could blaze that trail.2 points

Well, different family members would laugh or cry to read this, but I am now looking forward to being a niners fan.2 points

The 49ers didn't draft an RB and they don't have a lot of big name rb talent on there roster. He could carve out a spot for himself there if he impresses, which he will. Good choice.2 points

I took it. It was really difficult to answer because I don't think I've been to a game since Tony Mitchell was on the roster. I honestly don't know was present day game is like. (and the obligatory downvotes for admitting to that) Just realize that it is exponentially more difficult for me to get to basketball games than football games, so the incentive has to be pretty high for me.2 points

Forgive me if this is not appropriate... AT LEAST I'M NOT POSTING IN THE FOOTBALL FORUM But since it is the offseason, I'm proud to release the first episode of a mockumentary series (think "The Office" meets college environment) called "Bad RA" that I wrote, produced, and directed as a senior last year. We will have new episodes new episodes the next two Thursdays with the last two episodes of the first season to be released shortly after that. The first episode is 20 minutes. Give it a watch, and show some love! Thanks everyone!1 point

I mean our recruiting history is pretty concrete evidence. Sure, other variables are meshed in there, but the high rates 3 star guys that have options surely takes that into consideration. And if they're not taking it into consideration, I can assure the staff's at La tech, UTSA, UTEP, So Miss, etc. are taking it into consideration for them with some friendly negative recruiting against us.1 point

Glad for these guys to get their shot. My thoughts... Jeff Wilson - Approx 60% of the Niners' RB carries in 2017 are gone. They signed McKinnon to big money butthe depth behind him should be up for competition. They have draft capital invested on Joe Williams but he's got as much experience as our JW does. Great opportunity and I trust Leigh Steinberg placed him in San Fran with this in mind. Kishawn McClain - Brand new coaching staff in Oakland so fringe players are all having to earn their spots. Special Teams coach Rich Bisaccia came from DAL...maybe he got a look at or heard talk of KM while in the area. Treavor Moore - Since making headlines trading up to draft Roberto Aguayo in the 2nd round of the 2016 draft, the Bucs' kicking position's been in flux. They were near the bottom in FG% in 2017. Should be an open competition and I like Moore's chances in that scenario.1 point

That’s a good looking paint or wrap job. Reminds me of Bill Vogel. This got me thinking. When it was announced that the Regal Eagle was for sale, part of the deal was that the graphics had to be removed and returned to the University. Why is that ? And how does a graphic on the R-E differ from a window decal in the back of a Chevy ? GO MEAN GREEN1 point

From what I have heard, Stracke is very focused on a player's World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) and won't give you much attention if you are not ranked. Like a lot of programs, he has started relying pretty heavily on international players, which leaves local juniors without an offer. I have also heard that Stracke can be very blunt when dealing with players/parents/coaches which has earned him a bit of a reputation, but it is hard to argue with his results. He has attracted some very good international players in the last few years and the team's national ranking has improved quite a bit. He has sent the team as well as several individual players to the NCAA regional tournament in recent years. In terms of local vs international players, we have 5 Texas kids and 5 international players. However, if you look at our 'starting five' each week the international players are dominating the local players when it comes to playing time and tournament results.1 point

1- Great Lansing spot for Wilson. Shannon’s history with RBs is impressive from Alfred Morris, to Coleman (another SL player), Freeman in ATL. Up and coming offense as well. If Wilson can put on a show, and stay healthy this could be a very impressive spot. From what I recall as well McKinnon a veteran RB that the 49ers added, was a 3rd downback which gives me hope Wilson could stick because of his pass blocking potentially. 2- Moore is in a spot that TB has had trouble with kickers.. they took one in the 2nd RD recently and had to cut him then brought in a former Cowboys kicker. While not a sexy addition, could be a solid spot and another guy who could potentially stick. 3- McClain I think may have the hardest road to make the roster, but with a new staff in OAK, maybe McClain is a fit for them or someone who can be developed. Also, with Gurden there I feel like that alone will bring many evaluators which could help McClain find another team or an active team if he is put on the practice squad1 point

That’s a great opportunity. Right now 49ers backfield consists of Brieda and McKinnon. Two Georgia Southern guys who have not established themselves as the number 1 back. I remain optimistic he can make the team and be an impact player.1 point

Only a handful get picked, but Moore should get a multiple Rookie Camp offers. Ideally a place he can make the Training camp roster, and kick in the preseason to get more tape out there as well. He got a tryout the NY Jets, but Keena’s leg strength I think held him back 😕1 point

What do you think of this concept as it appears to be gaining traction in C-USA and Sun Belt BBS. There would be 5 divisions separated by geography which is inline with what Arkansas State Fan has proposed. Southeast FIU FAU Georgia State Georgia Southern Troy Coastal Charlotte USA Texas UTEP NMSU UNT Rice UTSA Texas State Ark State ULM Heartland ULaLa USM UAB WKU MTSU ODU LA Tech App State Northeast JMU Liberty Marshall Buffalo UMass Ohio Akron Kent State Midwest CMU WMU EMU NIU Ball State Toledo BGSU Miami (Ohio)-1 points

Stracke has a terrible reputation with Texas high school golfers. DFW is loaded with talent and produces the best players in the country. Pretty ridiculous Strack.......e has to rely on international players to fill out a team while you can go 30 minutes in any direction from UNT and find outstanding golfers.-1 points

Well we did pitch that to recruits Before the early signing period and it led to what? The 9th best class in CUSA after the rating had be updated.. LOL We can pitch kids on that winning in a weak Western Division in which we won multiple games by a slime margin but seeing players going in RD 1 does a world of good and is a dream of all HS and JUCO players.. also, if Davenport is a Star, he will have $ to donate to UTSA and is in a prime figure for UTSA to pitch to kids in an area that Wilson has strong ties too.-1 points

Because these UDFA guys going into the NFL camps were still having accidents on themselves the last time a UNT player was drafted. It's turning into an issue. A significant recruiting issue. No one is raining on anyone's parade, just pointing out a fact.-3 points
