Hola , amigos. After a long hiatus I thought I'd stop back in & see how everyone was doing. Although my expectations for this upcoming season are pretty low ( I see 3-4 wins ) I'll be getting season tickets/ MGC membership again for 1st time in a few years. I said I wouldn't spend another dime until there were changes & the changes were made so I'll keep my end of the bargain Just a couple of brief notes I haven't seen mentioned on here ( if so I apologize ) DaMarcus Smith transferred to Kentucky Wesleyan. Best of luck to him Jacob Holmen & Colin Voss have signed to the same team in the Bulgarian League. Some SMU roster moves include (players who have left ) WR Ryheem Malone , 2nd leading receiver last season (23/258/2) CB Jesse Montgomery , started 3 games last season KR/PR Deion Sanders Jr , 2nd team all conference returner That's all I got for now , looking forward to some tailgating. Sincerely , NT03* * @Harry I couldn't log in to my old screen name. If you want to combine the 2 accounts or I can just start using this one, doesn't matter to me. Thanks & GMG!!11 points

Actually, he is a very knowledgable fan of college athletics and his input is appreciated. Don't always agree with his view, but it is always well thought out and communicated. Sure, he is an ASU fan, nothing wrong with that. There are a lot of NT posters that I would rather take a break from the board.11 points

Well, if we want to shatter the "commuter-community college" image, then stating that we've been established as a institution of higher learning since 1890 is a good way to do it. We've been around longer than SMU, Rice, Texas Tech and Houston. Just to name a few. addendum: We are the same age as OU. Both of us established in 1890.9 points

TBH, I think the "founded in 1890" bit is genius and a long time coming. It speaks to tradition, history, and legitimacy as an institution.9 points

Our family would like to announce our extreme pride in our son, Todd Eaglin's new journey. He has just been accepted into Grad School at the University of Alabama. He will also be joining basketball coach, Avery Johnson's staff as a Graduate basketball assistant. We would like to thank UNT and the UNT coaching staff for their work in assisting in this next chapter. Our family is extremely thankful to UNT, so much so that our other son was accepted into UNT this fall and will graduate from UNT also.7 points

I agree. We're not one of those new 20th century upstarts like UH, TT, and SMU.4 points

I believe Combs is the only CUSA player on the list. So by extraction, he is predicted the best player in the conference. A big honor for a player from both a team and conference that are not highly regarded.4 points

Good commercial that ended with "UNT, official partners of the Dallas Cowboys."4 points

I visited Arkansas State last summer. They are taking themselves seriously. That is the first step. If you don't take yourself seriously no one else will...4 points

can one really stalk an omnipresent entity? find me a thread you haven't posted in.3 points

This thread is entertaining and proves that some of us will worry/complain about anything. They could show us getting new urinals for the restrooms and some of you would be concerned about piss getting on them.3 points

Leaving now little one is getting to hot!! Buyers has some decent hands he sniffs out the chains. Fine seriously looked like our best option from what I saw today Oharra kid holds the ball to long. Morris & fine are clear cut one and two QB Rutherford caught a lot of balls today and a touch down First team offense looked shaky First team defense looked good and fast. Hopefully we never have to punt. Our deep snapper needs some work.2 points

If you were at a high school game last night it was surely a memorable one as it was August 19th... and a beautiful, cool 71 degrees. I couldn't believe it. I was at Chisolm Trail at Weatherford scrimmage. Anyone else take in a HS game last night? Post your high school memories here. Five years ago on the same date...when our boys were in the 5th grade,...it was 107 degrees. It was 113 the day before. Wished the cool weather would last but I know it won't. Still, it was a great night to watch the locals..plus our man Derek Akunne had another solid night for the Cowboys I saw after DVR'ing their game. Hopefully its a sign of a good season to come? I remember somebody mentioning that at the scrimmage last week the music was crazy loud would it be bearable for a 6 month old or should the little fella stay at home?2 points

Welcome to NT. I believe this team has a better than even chance to be good this year. I think this would actually disappoint many who want Benford to fail more than they do for the team to be successful.2 points

UTSA has drastically improved at every spot except PK. If the score board is directly behind the goal, your odds are better than you think. Also, the game is in SA this year so there is time to get the bugs worked out.2 points

Didn't feel attacked. Sticks and stones, Grant. Maybe I should have said flat out instead of flat ass? Are we going to be okay?2 points

I don't think he transferred anywhere. Looks like he may have been frustrated with Morris and lack of playing time and quit. He graduates in December. Maybe he and Carlos could go into business together. http://sportsday.dallasnews.com/college-sports/smumustangs/2016/08/04/deion-sanders-jr-longer-part-smu-football-team2 points

http://texashsfootball.com/top-5-texas-college-football-match-ups-week-1/ 4. SMU at North TexasA revenge game for North Texas as they start a new era under Seth Littrell. SMU defeated the Mean Green 31-13 last year for one of their two wins in 2015. Chad Morris had an offense that could score last year for the Ponies, but the defense wasn’t up to par. This clash between two teams looking to bring new life to their programs will be big in recruiting in the North Texas area.2 points

Glad to hear it. I love hearing about our former players being successful in whatever is next for them.2 points

I think you're underestimating the importance of the OU vs Houston game. IMO, there's more interest in that game than UCLA vs A&M.2 points

Nothing to "brace" for Chris. After all, I'm sure the band (part of one of the most respected music schools in the nation) is busy working on their killer-crowd-pumping entrance for this season. You know, something like this?..... Or even something a bit more subdued like this.... After all, we are the best school of music in Texas, and I'm JUST SURE they are going to get busy with an entrance/show that is putting their (and the University's) best foot forward. And living up to their motto...The Show Window of University Spirit and Pride. I'm just sure of it!2 points

This must be the least games on TV since for us since we joined CUSA. Sucks for me who is so far away.2 points

I like him, and liked him when he was here. Benford was terrible for his growth. However, if he played defense with the same enthusiasm as he displayed for offense then he would be in the league. Hopefully, he matures to what he should have been under a good college coach.2 points

I think UNT offers as much as Houston and UNT would immediately have a rival in TCU given the proximity. Also, I did my MBA at UNT and absolutely loved the school so I'm totally biased. Oh, and I can't leave off that as a Red Raider living in Frisco I could see Tech more often too. :)2 points

If IBM was able to deliver on their promises routinely, Watson would actually be able to converse with people like it does on the ad.1 point

I wonder what North Texas's plan B is if our Big 12 bid doesn't work out? Oh wait . . .1 point
