If Eastern Michigan joins them do we take over the number 125 ranking or do we have to stay at 127?10 points

Traveling last night on business and happened to be staying at the same hotel as the men's golf team...Hilton Garden Inn in Texarkana! Nice Mercedes van to travel in with a nice big eagle on it! Took a pic, but can't seem to be able to post it. Saw folks from UTSA and UTEP there also.9 points

Clearly the blue bloods had to remind the NCAA what the NCAA's position is on this topic.5 points

There's plenty of room in the "It won't matter who plays QB if we don't find a defense" camp. Come on over! Rick5 points

I thought I made out like a bandit at the garage sale. Spent $10 on C. Dan Smith's game ball from the 2006 SMU victory. Got a very nice polo. And the big catch for me was Lairamie Lee's black jersey from the Halloween game against Rice in 2013, where he had several stops during the 8 play stand, including the 4th down sack that sealed the win. I've missed Lee's physical style of play the last few seasons.4 points

They had their fair share of fans who wanted this for a while. I think it'll end up being good for them.4 points

Loved this statement from the twitter. "Idaho football expected to make unprecedented move from FBS to FCS & Big Sky, sources confirm" I certainly can't think of any other schools that willingly moved one step down from the top classification of college football. Can anyone else?4 points

So exactly how is it good for UNT that Kansas or Iowa State or Colorado can come down to DFW and run these camps and get in with the HS coaches and recruits? Because I don't see one damn thing good about it for us. We should already be talking to kids and HS coaches in East Texas, South Texas, and West Texas.3 points

While there are some college football teams that face tough schedules, there are also teams on the other end of the spectrum. And while an easy schedule doesn’t necessarily guarantee wins, here are 10 teams who statistically should face less pressure in 2016: UTEP ADVERTISING Buzz: If we’re talking easiest schedules in college football, UTEP has to lead the discussion. The Miners face just two teams that were bowl eligible last season (Southern Miss, La. Tech) and one team from a Power 5 conference (Texas). That’s good news for a program that dipped from seven wins in 2014 to five wins in 2015. Toughest games: at Texas (S10), Southern Miss (S24), at Louisiana Tech (O1). t3 points

Speculation. But it really should be fact. Alas... I agree, until otherwise proven, all those players leaving last season is on the coach (particularly given all the rumors surrounding her exit at her last job), after all a big number of them were not graduating so the youth of the team is likely not a given but a problem she created. Because of that I am very reluctant to allow for the youth argument in her favor, to me she basically had to show results immeadately. And missing the tournament when it is at home is a really bad look too.3 points

There was a #37 out there who caught a couple of passes that I think people were confusing for Kenny Buyers. Yes, he is also Caucasian.3 points

Well, I don't sit in the Club Level nor do I have a suite. I sit in the stands. I also do not leave during the 3rd quarter. I am not lookjmg for another Jerry World, but a functional stadium that is fan friendly and possesses good sight lines and the amenities to make the visit enjoyable. Apogee beats all of these hands down. Of course, now you add in team performance and the setting where the stadium is located, neither of which improve the facility, to bolster your argument. Let's call this what it is, you are taking the tact of a few other posters and refuse to give credit where credit is due because it has the University of North Texas attached to it.3 points

This is a conference based decision, not something faculty/student driven. They simply can't afford to buy enough homes games like ND and BYU can, and they don't have the service academy cache to sell to alumni like Army can. Without revenue sharing and conference scheduling they would starve to death in FBS. Very sad day for their alumni.3 points

Seems like there was another Buyers catch that made the MGP video. But agree, the one they called out of bounds was a great catch. Wish that ref would have been in Austin in 1988. GMG3 points

New Mexico State should drop down as well. I applaud these schools for facing the music. The NCAA and bigger schools, really, upped the ante by marrying into television marketing. The bigger schools took advantage of it; others were slow to catch on. Some, like Baylor, got lucky by being able to freeload off the Big 12 for a decade before finally finding the right coach...who was willing to recruit the criminal element necessary to keep up with OU and Texas. Boise State caught lightning in a bottle by beating Oklahoma 10 years ago. But, that was long ago and never got them an invite to hang with the cool crowd schools. TCU fought like hell on and off the field to get an Big Boy invite. Gotta admire that. They are the true outlier from the beginning of the shake up that began in 1995/96. Idaho, New Mexico State, Eastern Michigan...at some point, you have to look around and ask yourself whether the millions of dollars the school is kicking in to keep the football program afloat at FBS-level is worth it. It really hasn't been for these schools. Keep the money for academics and quit tilting at the football windmills. No shame in having a competitive FCS program. One will have its QB drafted in the first round this year. Can't blame them for the drop down. If they win more games, it'll be better for their fan bases.2 points

This guy gets it. It was interesting to see North Dakota Fans in Dallas having a good time before their team played for the FCS national championship in Frisco. We may see Idaho fans back in this area sometime in the future, but that's some highly competitive football where they'll be playing.2 points

I feel bad for the Idaho fans out there. I think they are simply a victim of location and population in this new age of FBS football. They are just too far from their only possible FBS option (the Sunbelt), and they haven't generated enough support while playing second fiddle to Boise State for the past decade. I see an ESPN "30 for 30" coming.2 points

I'm sorry Mike Jackson, but Apogee for real2 points

You could have made that claim about Fouts. But there is no way there is any FCS stadium close to Apogee. Take a look at what are considered the best FCS stadiums today: App State's Kidd Brewer Montana's Washington-Grizzly NDSU's FargoDome Apogee is miles ahead of them.2 points

Please show me one recent post where I have said how great we will be this fall. Just one. While you are at it, please show me one where I accept us losing? Again, just one. While you are at it, show me a recent one were I have stated that it isn't time for RV to go.2 points

The surprise this year is they started out as well as they did. Horrible CUSA record is what you would expect when all but 4 of last years team left the program. I don't know what happened last year but there were definitely severe problems that may or may not still exist. Anyone who thinks that kind of exodus was not because of the coaching staff, is delusional. I hope this years collapse is due to inexperience and not some type of reoccurrence of whatever happened last year. With RV you never know, but a competent AD would certainly be closely watching this team.2 points

Please accept my sincerest apologies and know that you are welcome to move it to the appropriate category, Sir. Snickers have been ordered.2 points

1. Release - Shanbour has a lightning quick release that is unrivaled by any QB on the roster. In an offense predicated on timing, a fast release is probably more important than anything else. 2. Mobility - Shanbour is also quicker/faster than any QB on the roster. With a shoddy o-line at best, escapability becomes all the more important. 3. Intelligence - as noted by many on the board, Shanbour is probably the smartest QB of the bunch and has consistently shown academic prowess both in the classroom and film room. This intelligence also allows him to make better reads and audibles at the line. 4. Continuity - Shanbour has 2 years of eligibility left, meaning he can take the reigns this season and continue building through next season giving us an entrenched starter for 2 important early years of Littrell's tenure. 5. System QB - Shanbour has played in the spread his entire career on high school and at OK State before transferring to the Metamucil McCarney offense, where he was quickly shoved to the side for Andrew "Red Rocket" McNulty by a senile old man. 6. The read option/spread option - this kind of ties in to the mobility. Having a QB that can effectively run a read option attack can open up many more possibilities in the passing game (see 2015 Matt Davis) and makes more defenders account for the QB rather than focus on other players. 7. Arm strength - not only does he possess the quickest release of the QB group. He also has a strong arm. Strong enough to make every throw on the field. 8. Walk-on - see every successful walk-on at any school ever. His lack of recruitment gives him stronger desire and will to succeed. He has been pushed aside his entire career for subpar competition and continues to work hard and improve to silence the doubters (he's never been handed anything) 9. Moxie - call it guts, testicular fortitude, whatever term you may wish. That laser throw straight down the seam to a blanketed TE for a touchdown as well as his willingness to run for tough yards when it's needed prove this kid has balls of steel. I'd rather that kid lead me into battle every day. Not some kid from Allen who got crowned prematurely by the AD Suck it Vito I WANT TO BELIEVE1 point

No one could do anything but guess with this administration. If Benford didn't do enough to get fired in the first 4 years, its hard to envision what kind of season would get him terminated. I really think that there is a better than even chance that the team may be pretty good next year, so I predict he will be offered a new contract. If he has a losing record I don't think even RV would dare rehiring Benford. However with NT's luck, Benford will turn it around in miraculous fashion, win the conference and be offered a new contract. Of course, he will say no way and after finally learning his craft at NT's expense will be off to a greener pastures.1 point
