If you Google alec morris and alabama, theres a lot of positive things that come up and reason to be excited. Someone mentioned josh greer. He is no josh greer. He is unproven like greer was, but even being 3rd string at bama gives him much more than greer had, as only playing a few games of juco. Ok, morris couldn't start for the best championship winning, semi pro football program in the nation. Just to be in the running at least shows he belongs on a D1 football roster. And that is a huge improvement. Once you read what so called experts say about him, there's plenty to be excited about. But instead of being excited, we will have several discussions about the BACKUP!...really? The backup gets more discussion than Morris? Only at UNT... and for those that say "if our starter get hurt, our season is over"...half the teams in college football can say that. Of course your team will fall off if the starting QB goes down. Come on...8 points

I'll be too old in 2022 to even attend this game. (louder for the hearing impaired ) I SAID I'LL BE TOO OLD...never mind. GO MEAN GREEN6 points

I think that LB will be the most improved position this year. It will start with better coaching. Also, our most touted linebacker, Will Johnson, will be here for fall practice. We'll also have a highly rated freshman, Ladarius Hamilton reporting then as well . Finney seemed to improve with every game. Fred Scott has been a pretty solid player for the last two years. Brandon Garner is another player who began finding his role last year. Throw in Calvin Minor and maybe Montgomery; then add the possible development of newcomer Ejiya and we could have a very active group.5 points

and this is why i stay in denton...no reason to head north/south/east (except eastside)/west...denton has everything i need...5 points

I just wanted to point out a common denominator of these two games. I think he may largely be the reason we scored 41 on KSU and gave up 66 to PSU.4 points

Stealing a quote from the brilliant Dez Bryant... Has anyone else noticed/been driven insane by the loose and flapping in the wind access panel on top of the I35 Apogee video board?? For at least the past 6-7 months it has been flapping in the wind. Rain or shine snow or sleet it sits up there flapping looking like a broken piece of trash. How hard would it be to rent a bucket truck and send a maintenance man up there to tighten down the two or three screws??? Maybe I'm just too anal and I'm the only one who's noticed it but... TxDOT be Oprah-ing north Texas. You get a construction project, you get a construction project, and you get a construction project! Not to be the soon-to-be-dead messenger, but there will soon be more 35 construction between 380 and the northern loop 288. I think that starts in 2017.3 points

So someone was looking at the Memphis upcoming schedule and just so happen that we are on there...got to do a better job selling the program. This is actually a good story too.3 points

MGB: Memphis released its future schedule today http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2016/04/north-texas-memphis-announce-series-in-2022-23.html/2 points

As I recall Scott Hall took at hit at practice and missed a few games because of it. I rather take my chances on the field during the season. I have no doubts in Morris and his talents. Look at our last year 1st string vs Morris who would you choose. Can someone remove greets face from the forum picture-time to move on.2 points

It is so hard to hold in excitement about Morris. Especially with your write up Harry. Time and time again we have been disappointed during the Mac regime with the QB situation. Here is to hoping we can get Vito to stop bringing up D. Thompson so often!2 points

That won't happen until that stupid Eagle statute in the end zone is replaced with a sweatervest statute that RV carved himself from a Hattiesburg Redbud tree and weatherproofed with the blood of Darrell Dickey's and Todd Dodge's coaching career.2 points

It's the wind. Same as last year. I'm hard of hearing and I just give up on the field interviews. Brett needs to either get out of the wind or get a different mic.2 points

I'm not sure who was missing because there should have been 8 DEs and 6 DTs. The eight DEs are 30 (Roberts), 56 (Dilonga), 7 (Combs), 95 (Wheeler), 90 (T. Johnson), 50 (D. Smith), 90 (Ozougwu, and 99 (Flusche). There are six defensive tackles...44 (S. Moore), 15 (Tuaalo), 49 (Young), 98 (Wegmann), 93 (Combes), and 34 (English). I believe that the only ones not mentioned from various writeups were Dakota Smith, Tillman Johnson and Julius Combes. Unless there is a PWO this fall, all of the defensive line are eligible to participate in spring drills.2 points

I would do it but I can't stand watching non-HD content. We were without cable for about a year while our home was being built. We survived with a digital antennae and netflix. There was definitely some relief when we got back into FiOs after moving into our home.2 points

Definitely, and on an expense account. Justified because he is there on business. He's seeing how its done at that level so he can implement some of those things into his system. See below.2 points

Then Memphis will have to cancel the series for some unknown reason and we'll have another 5 game home season.2 points

Excellent news. Now if we could just snag Louisville, Cincinnati, and a few others, we would be right back where we were in 1969!2 points

Ok, to give credit where it is due, this is a plus in RV's ledger.* *For what that's worth2 points

Quinn Shanbour looked stellar. Especially after a couple of series in which receivers kept dropping Morris' passes. That said the receiving corps in general look to be taking huge leaps already. The real concern that I had out of watching was the defensive line. We have thirteen names listed on the roster, but @North Texas Shep and I only observed seven working together in drills at a given time. Perhaps we missed where the other group was but it was odd nonetheless.2 points

Naw, every coach, NAIA- Division 1 is out there.... ran into Shaka Smart, Jim Groce, Rob Evans, some Wake Forest guys. Great networking and there are required meetings for coaches to go to. Though I did hear some interesting rumors...1 point

Thanks for the video, Brett. Maybe it's the wind or maybe its the way Coach talks but, it's almost impossible for me to understand what he is saying.1 point

I'm happy with AAC teams coming and playing in Apogee. Although, RV is still severely lacking by not bringing in some P5's at home. This is a step in the right direction. Plus... Who are we to judge the credibility of a fellow G5 team? Side Note: Still not supportive of RV1 point

@Green P1, were you drunk when you took the photo? Quit talking about it and fix it! #RicksRLazy1 point

I'm talking just technique drills that the d-line unit was doing on their own with their coach. They were doing one particular form in pairs and as there were only seven players available, they had to pull a GA for one of the pairings.1 point

counter-point...ignoring viable words in the English language simply because they may make someone uncomfortable is a poor form of communication. that said, I don't see anywhere that I was lauding this piece for a potential Pulitzer. I agreed with the premise that Rudy is an awful, awful, awful movie and enjoyed the way in which this author communicated that point.1 point

had you simply disagreed and expressed your opinion, at worst nobody, well at least not I, would've taken notice...at best perhaps we'd have had a decent discussion regarding the movie. but nah. instead you decided that a woman having an opinion and the audacity to express it publicly must solely be the result of her not having a big, strong, virile man like you in her life because everybody knows that a woman will know and more importantly stay in her place when she's getting that good dick.1 point

to your first two paragraphs...if only someone would've already said that one page prior : "I think really only Todd Dodge was negatively affected by the AD...I still contend he was the absolute right hire...it was bold, he brought interesting football after years of 1950s style and he engaged the community...but he also tied his own noose by bringing a high school staff along with him. this is where the AD should've had the vision and /or balls to tell him no." -CBL to the next two paragraphs...if he's not adaptable and prepared for a challenge then he's a shit coach and he'll fail because of it. and again...show me another power-dynamic where the "boss" makes 1/3 the salary of his subordinate. Littrell has had five different coaching gigs, has taken on more responsibility/promotion with each step and not stayed longer than 3 years at any one school. the man is ambitious and knows that if he wants to continue his upward arc that he has to win and save for showing up when he's asked to glad-hand a little, is likely not going to concern himself much with what's happening at the AD. If he (re)builds this program in 3-4 years, Bob Stoops will be pushing 60...maybe he's asked to come in as OC for a season or two to be groomed as heir-apparent at his alma-mater. to the last paragraph...what would truly prove I'm wrong is if Littrell or Jalie flame out here and then goes on to be successful coaches elsewhere. Dodge is back in high school...McCarney is on a bar stool yelling at a jar of pickled eggs...Shanice, I understand, has a cushy gig as a saleswoman for Trapper Keeper...Peterson...uh, just realized I don't know anything about him with which to make a joke. these were bad coaches hired by a bad AD who shouldn't have his job anymore. but guess what? he does...it's the reality of the situation...and one egotistical club seat holder flying a plane, making a public show of his being rid of his tickets and of all fucking things being an intolerable broken-record on a stupid fan message board isn't going to change that anytime soon. this argument isn't even really about whether a coach can or can't be successful here...we've seen success here that, from what I know of UNT's athletic history, is pretty well in keeping with the status quo...it's about you wanting everyone else to feel as shitty about our poor luck in life to be UNT supporters as you do. you're hoping Littrell and Jalie fail because of how it will reflect on RV because this whole strange crusade of yours has become 100% personal. I get what you're saying...I just don't see any evidence to support the idea that these coaches were really hamstrung by RV. they were just shitty coaches.1 point

eh. are you looking for mutually exclusive answers? it was my birthday so I prioritized a long weekend with the special lady-friend in rural and mountainous Vermont to delving into the ins and outs of a mid-level athletic department. so here...a week late and very topical. I think we're basically having a chicken/egg discussion...likely to lead no where...but my simple counter to all of this is let's say your 1-7 all get corrected...we're at 5 stars on AD-Yelp for costumer service, facilities, recruit experience, scheduling, fundraising and uniforms...who becomes more successful? did white helmets doom Todd Dodge or was it more his/staff's inexperience? did McCarney recruit poorly because of facilities and game-day experience or because he took an antiquated approach to recruiting? did Benford lose to UA-Huntsville because it was poorly scheduled only 3 days after a trip to ranked Creighton or because he's an awful, awful coach did Stephens or Peterson flame out because of low MGC numbers?1 point
