  1. Hey, guys. My name's Or. I'm a producer for channel 8 here in DFW and a proud UNT alum. I'm also a frequent GMG stalker and occasional poster. Just wanted to drop in and share this... I reached out to the athletic staff to see if we could get Coach Littrell on our sunday night sports show this coming week. I expected it was a slam dunk; new coach, program in need of exposure, good chance to showcase what he's doing during an important time. I listed three possible times for a taping, as well as an offer to go live on sunday. About an hour later I got a very polite text back. As much as they wanted to make it happen, Coach Littrell doesn't have a spare moment this weekend. He's using them all to host recruits. So while I'm out a guest on Sports Special, I've got a lot of optimism for this class. At the very least, we know the staff is putting in serious work. Back to baseless speculation! GMG.

  5. All else being equal, given the choice between playing at a school where the fan base is a bunch of scrotums or playing at a school where the fan base is not a bunch of scrotums, many recruits would probably choose the less scrotumnal school.

  11. Mac was really good to the media. Very accommodating, always gave good answers, knew everyone's name, showed a lot of passion. It made a lot of people root for him... and to an extent, overlook some of the issues with his tenure. Wish it could have worked out... but I'll gladly take a coach who's great with his players over one who's great with my reporters.

  15. Why would you says catch him off? He took time out of his schedule to come to Denton from Florida. Plenty of kids take mid week official visits. Patrick Hudson too a mid week visit to UT a week ago. Not uncommon. Mid week they can get the full attention of the staff.

  17. There may be a few recruits visiting this week end or there could be many recruits taking their official visit to North Texas. Coach Littrell did have a late start to recruiting Texas. In only 2 weeks of recruiting, the staff is after very good football players. Got to give then credit for their efforts. I think the 2016 class will have several recruiting surprises for the NT team, and for the fans! Recruiting behind the scenes may be in place now. I am really looking forward to the next class of 2017 too. I do believe the staff will make huge gains in the recruiting game for the next class!

  19. If you keep posting erroneous assumptions, you're going to get cynical answers. I don't know anyone who appreciations misinformation. Maybe you do. What I do see is a poster that gets called out (a lot) on misinformation, and then tries to steer things away with "what I meant was" or, "My point was" With winning basketball, TTG was blogging and doing a regular podcast dedicated to UNT. It was really good and enjoyable.

  20. Mean Green Nation needs a local TV station that caters to our fan base and alumni by airing games that aren't on cable networks. Given our alumni presence locally, it's a joke that some of our games don't air anywhere in the DFW TV market, even when American Sports Network aired the game on other TV stations around the U.S. To avoid this problem in the coming season, we should start contacting local TV stations now to let them know we want to watch UNT games on their station. Towards that end, does anyone know which local stations aired a UNT game last season? Those are the ones most likely to be persuadable.

  21. A winnable game. I have an event tonight, so it is unlikely I'll listen. Someone post the tower or the dumpster fire depending on the result.

  23. This board absolutely has a negative impact on recruiting. There is no questioning that. When a recruit is looking at a particular school they are going to dig through the Internet to find any and all pertinent information about the program. Unfortunatly for us most searches regarding UNT football turn up something on this board. So does one persons comment have a negative impact? No. But, the collective does. This place is one stop shopping for all things wrong with Mean Green football. I am not advocating change. If things were better with the program their would be little for us to bitch about. I also don't believe in censorship and see the good aspects of this board. I just think you should quit kidding yourself.

  26. Again, "all else being equal." Do you think all else is equal between UT and NT?

  27. I'm sure the live stream will go perfectly with no delays, no cut outs & perfectly synced audio just like last year.

  28. I don't know about that. I think most kids would pick UT over NT 10 times out of 10.

  37. Sure, we could try that, but that would leave almost nothing to talk about for 8-9 months.

  38. I don't know, in this area of Texas you should be able to put together the core of your team within a 200 mile radius. Then try to recruit a few superstars here and there. We could compete successfully, within our conference, that way.

  39. This. I think what you are trying to say is great coaches maximize the talent they have, and no one would disagree with that. But you can't recruit a bunch of 2 star players with no other FBS offers and hope to be successful by "coaching them up." Not gonna happen.

  40. I think the year long rest we'll undoubtably get between tournament games will be quite sufficient for our tired starters.

  41. What has Chad Morris actually done yet? Beat NT? They had a harder time doing that than anyone else on our schedule last year (other than UTSA, of course). I've seen nothing there that impresses me yet.

  42. New Mexico is a better team in a better conference that would have beaten us by 30 last season. We lost this battle. Let's move on.

  44. Recruiting a kid to Denton should be easier today than it was in the '80s when I attended school. The campus is more impressive, Apogee is a massive upgrade over Fouts and the nightlife in town is better. The courthouse square 30 years ago was a ghost town. There only was a video store, Recycled Books, a burger place and El Matador a few blocks away. When I visit these days Denton looks more like a destination than a place you leave every weekend to do things in Dallas or Fort Worth.
