  1. I haven't seen anything posted about him yet. Deion is the quarterback at my old high school. He's a great kid and a great athlete. I think it's safe to say we're bringing him on board as an athlete. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3158770/deion-hair-griffin http://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/deion-hair-griffin/Pbcb_CQoEeS00gAmVebEWg/default.htm http://www.star-telegram.com/sports/high-school/article3887825.html

  2. When I read the tea leaves deeply I see ou getting ready to bolt for the big and this will force Texas' hand to the pac if they are not already actively setting things up. UNT needs to be ready to lineup with the following: Houston tcu k state Iowa state Kansas Baylor okie state Texas tech smu byu and Boise. RV do what it takes relationship wise to be extremely aggressive right now. Even if we miss the first train if the acc comes after tcu we need to be ready to deliver the metroplex as the large state university in north texas. OU has lost so much clout in this new big 12. The little privates were never supposed to rule the roost. None of the candidates to bolster the 12 are attractive so ou will leave. Texas has two juicy games next year with nd and ou. A&M has at least 6 just playing their conference. So the 12 will dissolve and we better be lining up with the new formation. Gotta see it to be it. GMG

  3. I had not yet renewed after 5 years or so of holding season tickets, and I did not receive one call or email the entire month of June reminding be to renew, or that the deadline was coming up. I just randomly happened to check the date online and found out it was today. Such poor communication. If McCarney wants to know where the fans are, the lack of effort in this department is one place to start.

  4. Ladies and Gentlemen I present to you, Apogee Stadium! They try and say it's not a good thing to be at the top blah blah blah, and the swing shouldn't be as drastic if you dominate your opponents. Anyways, here is the site. Byrd, Capper, and several others have put this link out there. http://www.predictionmachine.com/Home-Field-Advantage-College-Football-2015#.VZKSPiW0wdY.twitter

  5. aTm plays the most compelling games in Texas right now. Texas will deny it until the end of days but they recognize this fact and will push to bring the UT/aTm game back.

  7. Other than our actual performance on the court, the saddest part of it all is that we're lucky to get a couple hundred of our 35,000 plus season ticket holders to show for the average game, and most of them live on or near campus.

  8. OU doesn't have the votes to expand. If I were wagering, my wager would be OU is just beating the drum to get fans and supporters stirred up to create cover for OU "having no choice" but to defect the Big XII.

  10. Ranked #1, is still ranked #1. If I was RV I'd be using this obscure online ranking in our promotion efforts. Especially our efforts to bring back disenfranchised alums. People will be curious. Once they get out to Apogee and experience a game, some will be hooked. Come support your North Texas Mean Green this season @ Apogee Stadium, "The #1 Home Field Advantage in College Football!" as ranked by predictionmachine.com

  11. I can appreciate your enthusiasm for creating a more efficient system, but I think it would be better if Mac just focused on fixing our issues on the field. I have to believe there are others within the North Texas system that can address these types of issues.

  12. think that would be worth an email to Mac, or tweet him, Chico, the o-line coach, Byrd, and whoever else you can find.

  13. And this type of "lack of customer service" by the AD should be sent to McCarney!

  14. I can't speak to your issues with not getting emails from the athletic department. I've never had that problem. But, maybe RV could think about appointing a couple of Mean Green Club members to volunteer and help with fan outreach. I'm sure there are a few on this board that wouldn't mind. A few years back Kram and I think Emmett organized a few of us to go out and get schedule posters hung around the Denton area. It was a fun day. Things like that can make a difference.

  17. I stil don't understand how hard it is to just base all of this on geographic location like pro sports. Or any other sport in countries around the world. It's not hard till fill a conference with every division1Texas team and OU and OSU.

  18. This is just a nutty rant. You got panty-wadded because I said a list that includes a bunch of schools that were in the Sun Belt when the Sun Belt was holding you back from scheduling good games and being serious about athletics is a load of bull. If you read what I wrote, I specifically said if the discussion were about playing more regional schools I'd nod my head in agreement, what I specifically challenged (that means I pointed out) was the idea that playing FIU, FAU, WKU, MTSU is "more special" now. That's stupid and you know that but instead you want to rant on me. Fine. You have the same capacity to influence scheduling and realignment as I do so your wish means about as much as bird droppings. You perceive you've moved upward, you moved upward by joining a school UNT blocked from entering the Sun Belt. No the Sun Belt didn't offer you Texas opponents, but that's UNT's fault. Your president had indicated he would make the motion to admit UTSA and when new business came upon the agenda he chose to remain silent, everyone was ready to support UTSA to help you get a regional rival and UNT made the decision to not support them.

  19. Here the's deal. OU want's to stay where it is. It likes the geography, it likes being a big fish in a little pond. OU is a behemoth when it comes to Iowa St, Kansas St, etc. They want to expand the B12, stay where they are and live the good life. This is why they have been leaking to anyone who will listen that expansion is "inevitable." Here's their problem. UT doesn't give a damn about the B12. They think that with their money and prestige they can compete anywhere. They know that OU is tied to them, wherever they go OU has to follow. Everyone else in the B12 is on their own. There are currently 65 teams in the P5 conferences. UT's new AD wants to reduce that number, fewer mouths to feed means more for UT. They don't want to share with teams like Kansas St, or Washington St, or Vanderbilt, or pretty much the entire ACC. If they can step out of the B12, make it go the way of the Big East, and find a home in an existing conference or create an entire new conference, they will do so... and OU will have to follow them. So either OU wins and the B12 survives and 67+ teams share the playoff money, or UT wins. If UT wins the B12 explodes, other conferences probably collapse or reform. The SEC, PAC12 and B10 will add schools. The ACC will be be cannibalized. We end up with 55 or fewer teams sharing the money. I know where my bet lies. The best part for them? Because of the governance rules they just passed they will get to hoard all the football money and not endanger the March Madness money.

  20. The reason why FSU is at the bottom is that they were dominate the last couple years and would of won regardless being home or away. UNT has such a lop sided home/away record that it puts them at the top because they continually win at home. I have been waving the home field advantage banner for a while now and saying that Mac wins at home. Why can this team not get more support at home??? Dont give me that, "this is an artistic town that doesnt care about football" Bulsh.

  22. Just mentioned the only two schools who recruited him were TCU and North Texas. He decided to go to TCU because he didn't want to get tackled on the terrible Fouts artificial turf. What could have been... Imagine starting our return to 1A with a talent link LT.

  23. Looking forward to Sir Calvin contributing more to the DL this year. I'm also hoping that Harry is right about this being a break out year for Mr. Haboul (#94 on your program). Speaking of #'s, according to the mean green sports web-site, Sir Calvin is wearing #48 this year.

  27. Right, but I'm not even seeing the "view complete team list" on his profile. Or the icon that says "North Texas" where you can click on and view the complete commitment list. I see his commitment on the timeline, but that doesn't ever have links. It's really not a big deal. Definitely not 3 posts worthy.

  29. If a recruit has not committed, it defaults to the screen that shows all the offers, or at least the offers of teams still in contention. Once that recruit commits, the listing of offers is a click away. See http://247sports.com/Player/Gregory-Little-35283, for an example.

  31. One possible issue... The data goes back to 2000, so we don't know how much of the home field advantage might have been at Fouts. They do say they weigh the new data and new stadium data more heavily though. I wonder how they count seasons like UH's 2013 where we played at multiple locations, none of them truly a home field. "Note: All data goes back to 2000 and compares home performance to road performance relative to competition and expectations. In general, recent seasons are given more weight than seasons long ago, especially for programs that are newer to FBS football (Charlotte is not included at all since it has no FBS seasons). For teams that have new stadiums, seasons in new stadiums are given stronger consideration. The Home Field Advantage value in the charts is the expected advantage a team would gain for playing at home as compared to a neutral field against a totally average opponent if it played at a totally average pace (we use this to assess the impact of home field advantage on every play in a game)."

  36. Where are you seeing that? I don't see any other offers on his 247 profile. http://247sports.com/Player/Deion-Hair-Griffin-81508 He also doesn't have any other recruiting profiles to my knowledge. But 25 touchdowns against 0 interceptions is amazing, even if he won't be a QB in college. Good looking athlete.

  37. The store is hardly even needed other than on game day, but on game day, it's so crowded I don't even go in. I wonder if there would be a way to set up a custom tent on the semi-circle on the north side (which is almost, but not quite under the wing) for a larger game-day store?

  39. I agree, especially on the last point. Frankly, I cannot understand how P5s schools cannot make money with baseball. It seems like it would be an easy sell. You only have a weekend series at home about every other week, as well as the odd in-week game. I think that sport has as much a chance as college basketball did of making a huge leap up in the sports conscience. Networks are starting to carry the games more often, the ESPN coverage of the regionals and super-regionals, as well as the CWS, is fantastic in my opinon, very similar to the great NCAA Tournament coverage they had back in the 80's. I still think that Title IX's biggest fault is allowing football to be considered as a component. Take football away from Title IX and set a floor, whether in % or $$$, that ensures appropriate funding for the womens programs and other non-revenue programs for the men. Then, if that was the case, you could easiily increase scholarships in baseball, softball, etc...as stating compliant with Title IX would be much easier.

  44. A couple of thoughts: 1. For the person who thought being a public school was a scholarship advantage. Actually, it appears that under the current rules private schools have an advantage due to being able to provide more scholarship money. See TCU, Vanderbilt, Miami in CWS. See Rice, DBU as well. Additionally, LSU has a unique advantage because te state of Louisiana provides free tuition to Louisiana kids that maintain a 3.0 in hs. They're really able to stretch those 11.7 scholarships. 2. With the current legislation and new rules for the P5, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see baseball scholarships increased to 20-25 per team. If this happens, the parity talked about in this thread will begin to erode an then disappear

  45. 2011--Houston was ranked as high as 7th that year. Congrats on getting fellow SWC private school Baylor to come to Dallas and giving their fanbase an easy game to travel to and watch an easy win. Kinda like yall do for TCU every year, as well as when A&M or Tech have come to town. I do think its really awesome that we replaced A&M and Tech on your schedule for OOC games against Texas public schools going forward. Its really a great opportunity for us to get some easy wins again, just like last year.
