I have hated benford since the D2 loss and have been disgusted with UNT hoops since the UTA loss. However I have decided to give Benford a fresh start. I like Wesley and Combs on this team. So starting Nov. 1 I have renewed hope. Who is with me?4 points

Final. NT wins 4-0 and the CUSA regular season championship. NT plays Marshall in the first round of the CUSA tournament.3 points

Per a source at the game, #FIU AD Pete Garcia took several fans chanting "Fire Pete" up to his suite. pic.twitter.com/fSW6S0DOiw — Patrick Chalvire (@PatrickChalvire) November 1, 2014 #Rice has more fans at #FIU than the home team. If there is any chance at 4 straight wins , a bye week is perfect. Some guys need the extra week of rest & gives the team time to refocus. Do I think we can hit 6 ? Doubtful , but it's not totally out of the question2 points

With Vito's relationship with the staff, his opinion is speculation as he noted. Just because NT does not have interest in Riddle does not mean that they are not frantically searching for a QB. It is possible that they are so desperate, they are concentrating on JUCOS who will be ready day one like Greer was supposed to be. They couldn't be happy with any that have played this year and I doubt they want to rely solely on Means or a grayshirt that might not even play the position.2 points

Use your noggin--why do think Canales told him that? The way I see it, there are three possibilities: 1. The staff is not going to offer a QB this class. 2. The staff is not pursuing Chris Riddle as their main recruiting target. 3. The staff is unsure about one or both of the above. If #1 is the reason, that's not Canales's choice to make. If #2 is the reason, that may or may not be Canales's choice to make. But we do not know (or at least I do not know) who their main recruiting target is. I like Chris's videos, and would be glad if we signed him, but there are other fish in the sea. If #3 is the reason, the staff needs to get on the ball (and that would be on Coach Mac), but kudos to Coach Canales for not having a kid's family shell out the cash for the tickets if there's not a better than decent chance the kid will be offered.2 points

i can see Greer transferring. If not after this semester, then he may wait and see how he fairs in the Spring. If McNulty starts all 4 games and he does not improve, he should be eliminated from the competition. We need to win some of these last 4 games. McNulty has done nothing to win the job and start for the rest of the year. I usually defend Mac, but he blew the handling of the QB. I understand that he had to bench Dajon and give AM his shot. Once again, he did nothing to win the job. It should still be open. Even Greer should still be considered. Mac had a chance to put Dajon back in when McNulty got hurt. Dajon came in and ran for 20 yards and completed a short pass. Could have given him a little more time to see how it played out. He had his excuse if it didn't work out. Instead we put a hurt McNulty in and lost. Mac may not consider it McNulty's fault becuase it wasn't as ugly as Indiana and UAB, but it's a loss on McNulty. USM was a loss. If we start out slow against FAU, then start the rotation over again. Greer, then Dajon. Anything but staying pat and racking up losses.2 points

Why did I think McNulty was a senior? Wishful thinking I suppose.2 points

Omg. I realize that's a pre-kick photo, but that's mindboggling.1 point

Look at how bad West Virginia's qb was last year. He was young and coaches expected those mistakes. This year he is more experienced and lighting it up. DW is a redshirt freshman but he has the most talent. Get him the experience in a lost season and reap the benefits next year. I am not worried about next year's o-line either. After watching A&M's experienced line underperform this year, sometimes we think having a bunch of guys coming back is a great thing. Obviously it doesn't always work out that way.1 point

And I'd also like to see DW allowed to be in more of the bus driver role like the other qbs.1 point

No. Unlike Greer, DW has at least shown us what he could become. Greer showed us he is a legit FCS QB playing at the FBS level.1 point

Well said Harry! DW and others will learn nothing by being benched every game. They need experience, but know that if they mess up they can be benched for a while. Benching someone for multiple games is not "teaching them a lesson". It is giving up on them.1 point
-
Never heard of him therefore I will assume no.1 point

Two FU's at home, and two UT Juniors on the road. I'd say it's possible, but probably only if DW shines and gets to at least eventually move into something close to a two QB rotation. I'm still a bit doubtful that 6 would get us a bowl, but finishing strong like that would make us feel better and help with recruiting. I say let's do it.1 point

He still led his team to victories over South Carolina, Arkansas and Rice. Where does he drink? I'd like our whole team to go over there to have a few before each of our remaining games this year.1 point

No, I was on the field for 72-0 against Nevada Reno in 1991. That may be worse than a bye week.1 point

I am always ready for UNT basketball. Trilli, Jones, Benford.... It's all good. I really enjoy basketball! Benford is showing he can recruit and he has improved from his first season. If he continues to improve (20 win season) I will definitely be on board for next season. If we only win 8-14 games this season then changes need to be made. However I do not want to lose players in a coach turnover. The 2014 and so far the 2015 recruits are looking real exciting!1 point
-
Benford's coaching has improved from the first year, but I still am going to have to see some results before I buy in again. The roster does give out a little hope, but based on the first two years that may not mean much. His transfers thus far with the exception of Voss have not been close to measuring up to his evaluations. The freshmen; Wesley, Combs and White-Pittman do provide more interest. I am cautiously optimistic but don't have season tickets for the first time in decades as they went mostly unused last year.1 point

Canales may be on the hot seat...no need of getting him to pick a Qb if he is going to be replaced. Just a guess based on the season. These last 4 games may be for Chico to save his job, or at least QB coach duties. If his job is on the line, then at least let him go out on his own terms and run the show. It would be kinda messed up for him to be let go and his hands are tied with personnel and play calling.1 point
-
That's got to be the last nail in the coffin. Canales has to go. What a dumbass move.1 point
-
If they were smart they would go get David Bailiff at Rice. Instead they will throw a bunch of money at a big name coach that has already checked out and does not have the energy it takes to make them a winner.1 point
-
NT scores in the 5th minute to take a 1-0 lead. About 30 minutes in and NT still leads 1-0. A win or a tie for NT will give NT the outright regular season title (no matter what happens NT has clinched the #1 seed for the tournament but would tie for most points earned with a loss tonight). Go Mean Green!1 point

When should the AD become the discussion? I hope he takes some responsibility for the direction of the programs. But I doubt it!1 point

Sometime I think BreVito is high. "That could change. The situation with scholarships is always fluid. UNT could have a top-ranked quarterback knock on its door tomorrow that that staff would grab in a heartbeat." "four starting offensive linemen" I know they are seniors but have they lived up to the hype at all.....I dont really think so Why not get one more QB in? If you put the heat on the guy in front of you, he either excels or he doesn't and you replace him. If McNulty is our QB next year, I will just die1 point

Until Creighton arrived, Ypsilanti's only claim to fame is being the birthplace of Domino's Pizza. In recognition, Creighton has promised to deliver a winner in 30 minutes or less.1 point

I've waited a while to answer this one. But then, that's (kind off) the problem isn't it? Especially when you are a NT alumni who has watched this program for over 40 years and heard all the different variations of "just wait" or "wait'll next year", or "the sleeping giant will awaken soon". I'm sick of waiting till next year I'm sick of people outside (and inside) the program rolling their eyes and saying "well, that's North Texas for ya" I'm sick of everyone waiting for our culture change to start from the bottom and working it's way up, instead of how it's supposed to happen...from the top down. I'm sick of us.....well....insert your favorite North Texas pet peeve here. BTW Caw Caw, thanks for asking. BTW(2) I absolutely hate the word "Caw" being associated with our program or, more specifically our mascot, in any form or fashion......sorry.1 point

Another point to the whole reps/starters/back-ups/blowups situation is getting real-game experience - even if it's "just" mop-up duty is it helps programs "reload" rather than "rebuild" because they're constantly pushing players to perform as best they can so they get better reps than only mop-up reps. It's the biggest knock I have on Mac as coach - he seems stuck in old-school, old-fashioned, and conservative ways that don't help the team or squad and shows how much we're left behind. You just have to look at Snyder in K-State to see how an old coach can continue to reinvent himself to stay relevant and run a successful program.1 point

Mac's not about to let this crap happen again next year. I think that this year he relied on Canales and Skladaney way too much and both sides of the ball have bombed. He needs better help.1 point

nod to Harry for being the first to post about our first CUSA championship: The soccer team clinched at least a share of the regular season title today...they can claim the outright championship with a win or draw Friday night: http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/w-soccer/recaps/102614aac.html I realize it's Halloween and many of you "can't" attend, but for those of us who can work it in, I'm sure Coach Hedlund and the gals would greatly appreciate the fan support as the Mean Green go for the crown. It's just a two hour commitment from 7-9PM.1 point
