Kinda like te HOD bowl was gonna pass us over because of our Homecoming Court?3 points

Please stop putting words in my mouth. I never suggested that anyone be handed anything.....except possibly the opportunity to show what they can do. In addition to Kenny Buyers, you can ask our last years starting center, Kaydon Kirby, how they felt about getting an opportunity to walk on and show what they could do. Now, as to limited time. I find it interesting that Clayton Adams, a walk-on from Granbury has been out getting scrimmage reps since the first day. He has made some good grabs and from my observation he runs pretty good routes....and it doesn't hurt that he's 6'5". I've also observed a small RB, who's name I was told was "Smith" (wearing #32) getting scrimmage reps from day one. And while Mr. Evans was being singled out for his long TD run (as he should be) Mr. Smith was also given the opportunity (via reps) to show what he could do yesterday. Like Mr. Evans Mr. Smith responded with a weaving-in-and-out-of-heavy-traffic long (15+yrds) TD run. Now, we have (including the mysterious Mr. Smith) 8 rbs out there, and at least 12 wr's. All of which have gotten reps up to this point during practice. Two of the QB candidates have been on campus for at least two years and both have actually put their cleats on the field during a game. So we might already have at least an idea about their abilities. Four have not. And as of yesterday, I have only observed two of those four getting scrimmage reps. I asked a simple (and civil) question and in some cases I get my meaning twisted around and in other cases I get dismissive attitude. Pretty soon, I'm going to switch from giving people Alien Ales to drink (for being good sports and/or giving insightful answers) to hitting them over the head with the bottle.....empty of course.3 points

slow down there hoss... since all of us have seen a combined one possession of NCAA football between Greer and DW, i don't think we really know who exactly can do what better than the other... i'll hold any criticisms until we are maybe 2 games deep into the season... secondly... the fast tempo pace was used in the majority of games this past year, although it usually only occurred in the second half, which i believe is the coaches gameplan... see Tulane, Ball St., Ohio, Tulsa, UNLV, Middle Tenn., UTSA also.. running the ball against 8 or 9 man fronts was part of their play fast scheme... it might have worked it's best in the bowl game... but we definitely showed it in Tulsa and other games2 points

I'm thinking they left out a "per year" from that sentence.2 points

I did not give you the -1, but please explain this comment with examples of employers who have stated that this is a problem or employers you have poof of turning folks down for positions based on this assumed "weirdness". As an Alumni Association we will want to reach out to these employers and discuss why they may prejudice our grads in such a way. Thanks.2 points

How sweet it would be if SMiss and LaTech knock off their No. 1 seeds and face off in the F4! Tall order, though.2 points

Apparently Barnett and Anthony Wallace are friends, according to this article. But this kid has bounced around more than a pinball. 5 different high schools, committed to OU and Arkansas before signing with Michigan. Not sure where he was the past few years.http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/Chris-Barnett-took-winding-road-to-Michigan-031211 Also, pretty sure he was at LD Bell before Trinity. I was a senior the same year as Barnett, and Trinity was the team that knocked us out in the 3rd round my junior and senior year. I remember seeing that he had transferred to Trinity for our senior year and thinking "dang, now that have him!" Although he didn't actually end up playing that year. Definitely a physical specimen, though. Fwiw, A Maceo Smith got closed down for bad test grades.2 points

For me the big story is continued evidence that UNT is a great place for kids to come play. Hopefully we'll get more kids to see that before signing elsewhere. Specifically for these kids, even if they never start a game for us the added depth and competition can only push everyone to be their best.2 points

So then name one employer who has mentioned that UNT is weird. You know, a top official whose opinion means something having mentioned in some way that UNT is weird and that might be a problem. Your post indicated it might be a problem with employers...don't try to squeeze out now since someone asked you for some proof of that nonsense of a comment. It was posted as a potential problem with employees. Just asking you to either put up or stop the nonsense. Having been in the world of employment over forty years and having been associated with many different business leaders, I have NEVER heard one bad mouth UNT for the quality of its programs or graduates. Nor has anyone mentioned any sort of "weirdness". I'll wait for your substantial proof should you have any. I am fully prepared to contact each and every employer you mention to discuss this with them in order that this so-called "weirdness" might not impact our graduates at their place of business. You would be more than welcome to accompany me on said visit should you wish. And...cooler talk is not "employer talk". You said "employers". Had you said "cooler talk"....great...probably agree with you there. So, employers or simply cooler talk? Big difference, yes?1 point

I am starting more and more to think it will Greer and McNulty on the two deep with Williams for maybe wild cats or so. Then again ,aybe the reason he does not praise DW more is because DW is the QB most at risk of getting complacent whenever something good is said. But overall, I am just trying to read tea leaves, and that is one difficult task. We won't really know anything before the spring game, and probably only very little after.1 point

He won't reply because he knows it's a lie. Just by even thinking that, it's damaging our university's brand, IMO. Shameful, not true and and an ages old stereotype that doesn't hold up anymore. EDIT: so, like a badass, just gonna go through and neg any post that isn't okay with thinking NT grads can't get jobs? Wow. Such edge1 point

Hey, GreenMachine...did you see my earlier reply and request for some info on your comment regarding employers? Would appreciate a reply. That sort of comment is pretty telling, so we need to get to those employers, invite them to campus and clear that total misconception up. So, unless it was just nonsense, please provide the data to back up that comment with names and experience. Thanks so much. I promise you the Alumni Association folks will contact each and every employer who you mention that hold that "weirdness" you mention against our graduates in any way. Appreciate it.1 point

There's nothing wrong with the weird tag. As long as we have top notch liberal art programs and are located in Denton, it won't be going anywhere. I'd be pissed if we ended up like Tech or A&M and not seen as "weird." Being "weird" hasn't hurt UT. Your argument is flawed. The weird tag is a factor in why I came here. And I do my best to further that atmosphere. You went to the wrong school if you don't like "weird."1 point

Tell that to our rapidly rising business program and the monument to it (BLB) funded by many DFW businesses.1 point

Alright, everyone shut up. I survived and I am going to start updating this thread, which I am now calling: COLD WAR TWO: The Re-Mutually Assured Destructioning. Good News: I've already sold the movie rights to CWT:T-RMAD! Bad News: They've option Corey Feldman to play UNT90. The part of Cerebus will be played by Guillermo Díaz.1 point

2 questions: 1. Will they be coming in on scholarship? 2. Did they play at Blinn? It doesn't appear so. If they in fact didn't, they may be eligible able to play this year as redshirt sophomores. Although if Jordan Richmond has to sit out, they may also have to as well. If they're coming in on scholarship, we may have as many as 8 spots in the 2015 class filled up. Between Jordan Richmond (DE/LB), Sam Rice (OL), Blake Bean (LB), Rashad and Vershad Jackson (DBs), as well as grayshirts Shaq Jackson (DT), Jon Graham (DL), and Caleb Chumley (QB). Not 100% sure if Bean or Rice are coming in on scholarship. Also, Dan Kottman has been reported by Vito as walking on.1 point

Nobody from the WBC ever said that, the story about that came from a satirical news site similar to The Onion. Anyways, the WBC doesn't believe in funerals because they are against worshiping the dead. Phelps was also excommunicated back in August too btw, so not only will there not be a funeral for him, there wouldn't even be anyone that would go in the first place.1 point

Anyone else have notes on yesterday's scrimmage? Always love Vito's but its great to get more opinions on what went down. I just need football in my life right now!1 point

He is going to (maybe) walk on. If he has been out of football for 2 years, he would fm have to walk on wherever he went. Very meh on this one.1 point

I've been saying for 6 months, mid-season, wait til next year. DW is going to explode onto the scene. Some of my buddies of which are UNT alum or UNT students would ask who's DW. Well North Texas is getting ready to do special things. I know if DW gets the start the offense is going to be special granted he stays healthy. I have just been waiting for a moment that might allow him to pull away, sounds like it may have happened yesterday. He just needs to ride the momentum every practice. GMG1 point

He does seem to have a strange obsession with this group. Makes me think he might be one of those family men who go moonlighting as a cross dressers at Oak Lawn gay bars on the weekends and then sit in the office during the week reading gay bashing articles to console themselves.1 point

I was there too..... Big Guy on the Front Row with the Big Green Afro. I waited outside the pit for 5 hours that day to make sure i got the first seat.....Pat my crotch was a great great chant. One of MANY coaches i pissed off during my 4 years. Mike Jarvis and the Mike Mike chant was great, and i always loved John Brady for his feet stomping abilities. I will say Pat Knight hated us that day and regretted coming to the pit..1 point

I will always remember the Tech game when we beat them. I was with fellow pit crew members yelling "Hey Pat, Pat my crotch". He gave us go to hell looks.1 point
