"Speed is a big deal, I just think size can wear you down in the second half and it may put more of the onus on the offense to build leads and start off strong." How many times did you see the D-line get worn down in the second half last year? How many times did you see the Dline wear out the opponents Oline in the second half? The answers will be the same for the up coming season.4 points

They invited them to walk on. Not be handed a scholarship. It just means they have to prove themselves more. They have to prove themselves in drills in order to earn practice snaps. They have to prove themselves in those practice snaps that they can handle being in a game situation. Maybe one day they will earn a full ride. You can point to the success stories but more often than not walk ons don't ever see the field. They are valuable bodies that help out in practice.2 points

To piggy back off of the insanely improbable TD play that Dajon executed during mini-scrimmage... That moment came in the middle of what had to have been three or four consecutive small-time TD drives that the offense executed. It was either the one just before or after in which the 3's caught the secondary unawares and made an easy floater TD catch. Up to that point as mentioned, each side of the ball had been jawing, taunting, and building that unit camaraderie from the sidelines whenever anything went their way, but at that easy completion, Dajon came alive. He bolted off the sidelines and led the whole Offense in verbally realizing what the Defense was just handed. It's the first time I've really witnessed him verbally step up - granted it was exhibited in the hard line competitive spirit, and not necessarily pure leadership we've been hearing about - but it was still great to see all the same.2 points

Thanks Harry. Great article. Reminds me of the old days when you were about our only source of info and you kept talking about this sensational freshman RB from Longview.2 points

Thanks for the great write up and details. I am happy to hear about Jamal Marshall and zed Evans gettung reps with the ones. Hope they can hang on. If Erick cant get into the rb rotation, I really hope he can become a return guy. 4.3 speed as a returner will be dangerous as long as he can field the kicks.2 points

Nice wins for the ladies after disappointing losses to Louisville and Denver. Beat Liberty (former Asst Maren is their HC) 6-1 Monday beat New Mexico http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/w-tennis/recaps/031714aaa.html #5/6 Singles is still a point of worry with 2 Freshmen playing there. Especially #6 is not winning enough regardless of who is in.1 point

Something I found really interesting today was Skladany, yes Coach Skladany, personally coaching up the punt returners. Like not just tips, but specifically coaching the returners. It was fascinating.1 point

Excellent write up, Harry. I really really hope DW does what it takes to win the QB job, as I think his, and consequently UNT's, upside is far better than any of the other candidates.1 point

Can any of you guys or girls make a video of practice and post it here? Some of us live a long way from Denton. Also with so many quarterbacks it helps to keep us to date. Thanks.1 point

The game wasn't that good. Ucla had full control of the game throughout. I wish the best team would win our conference in major media sports. Didn't happen in football or basketball and our "champion" made out conference look weak in both sports. The big boys in both sports need to step up to the plate and win the big games so we can have a good national representation. Ps..why are they even advertising women NCAA tournament? My brain gets more stimulation watching the middle eastern cricket highlights.1 point

It's impressive that guys like DT & Trice would be willing to take time out of their training schedules to spend time helping with the transition. Definitely shows the "Mean Green Family" that Mac has built in Denton. That said... Does the presence of guys like DT & Trice stunt the leadership development of some of our returning players? Really, I recognize that the positives FAR outweigh any concern about players assuming new leadership roles, but I can certainly see a player reverting back to a less vocally authoritative demeanor.1 point

Heart of Dallas Bowl was started as the Dallas Football Classic and the initial four year agreement was for the B10 to play a B12/CUSA team in alternating years. The new bowl contract is a six year agreement. The permanent team conference is CUSA, and the B12/B10 alternate.1 point

Thanks Mark, as always, for the work you put into putting these events together. Disregarding whatever stupid internet sports arguments we have, you are a class act and a great asset for the UNT family. I'll be the first to commit as a player (or at least someone who can stand around and take up space). I'll look for others who may be interested.1 point
