Couldn't have happened to a better bunch. On a side note, rumor has it RV is mulling over an Benford contract extension because he "didn't make the NCAA tournament, just like hall of fame coach Larry Brown".3 points

I don't see how you can seperate Benford from the equation. The problems in the front court are entirely his doing.3 points

How about those jacks? After having to replace two of Danny Kaspar's top scorers from last year they went 18-0 in conference, routed our ass in Denton and are now heading into the tourney 31-2. Are they a fun team to watch or what? Great ball movement against the zone and isolating one side the key earning the constant backdoor passing layup, suffocating, lockdown transition defense. I love that style of basketball. I hope they get a good seed in the dance, maybe a 12 or even an eleven? Rick2 points

Saying Alzee is not a great shooter may be true, but he did have the 3rd highest FG% on the whole team (and Voss was only 0.6 percent better). Not sure if you can really count Flannigan as our best shooter, despite his percentage (he didn't shoot enough). So, if Alzee's not a good shooter, we had none. We'll miss him terribly.2 points

but why does a sport that doesn't even exist (baseball) get a page, when several successful sports don't? shouldn't it be merged back in with the "others"? otherwise it seems disrespectful, while the traffic doesn't justify its own sub-forum. - I would think at the very least it should be Mean Green Baseball/Softball Forum2 points

The city skyline needs to go . . . I'm not a fan of the new busy floors some arenas are sporting these days. Otherwise, yes.2 points

Sorry to bring this back to topic, but I hate this quote. With this thinking, how do we expect to beat out bigger schools for recruits? Just frustrating to read this, then read how people wonder when we are gonna start beating out the bigger schools. I know Manziel wasn't highly recruited, but look what he did for that school. What if this kid does the same thing for tech?2 points

So i remember us talking about this when we were discussing the Heart of Dallas Bowl. I couldnt help but think that if UNT has a successful season.. we can convince the alumni in the DFW metroplex to wake up and smell the coffee. I think part of this is SMU's suckiness will continue.. I project SMU to start the season 0-5.. Their schedule next season for the first 5 games...SMU is going to suck. We should take advantage of this.. 08/31/14 at Baylor 9/06/14 at North Texas 09/20/14 vs. Texas A&M 09/27/14 vs. TCU 10/04/14 at East Carolina I think rather than us.. being semi-bored with this blog because we dont have alot of content to discuss right now.. that we come up with ideas for the next season to get the word out about UNT football. The first thing i am going to do is try and get the pedestrian bridge to apogee to have its lights changed to green to grab the attention of drivers on the highway. I already proposed this to a high ranking city official and he loved the idea... also loved it because it wouldnt cost alot of money and its doable. Remember this... didnt this happen due to someone on this blog mentioning something to the omni.. We have a little over 5 months, imagine what we could do if we worked on things now.. Seems a bit late for a blog post about combine snubs but ProPlayerInsiders.com posted a list of their top 50. Brelan makes their cut... http://proplayerinsiders.com/top-50-combine-snubs/ (I'd never heard of this site until Vito linked to them in a draft-related MGB entry, so I wonder if he has some relationship with the site's admin or if he sort of clued them into our guys)1 point

Absolutely. Look at our 5 signees from last season's early signing period. None were on the court this season. Just wanted to show where we are right now and where we may go. That being said, "right now" may change on a week to week basis.1 point

Got out for the first game. Decent crowd for 10 am on a Sat morn. Chilly, windy with rain on its way. I met Neal Smatresk. He was with his wife and I presume his son or daughter, spouse and his grand baby. Said it was first softball game at NT and he wanted to see two CUSA undefeated teams play. Sometime around the third inning, he turned around to the crowd, asked if Ashley's parents were in the crowd and complimented her Mom on how great of a pitcher Ashley is. Nice moment. Legitimate hit with two outs in the top of the 7th to give up the no-hitter, but great game. She struck out a whole bunch today. Had to leave, but pitching struggled in game two. May be a reflection of how good Ashley Kirk is. Game was rain delayed for about an hour, and we gave up 5 runs when the game started up again. GMG GMG1 point

I've been trying to do this for months! Unfortunately, it's very difficult to do stuff in the offseason. I'm going to ramp up my campaign before and after the Spring Game. Best advice, make your own, get involved, talk to people on campus. I started with something simple--a twitter account--and it evolved into a campus and area wide marketing campaign. I really have only focused on the students and alumni, there's a whole Dallas area ripe for the picking! If you want to help, send me a PM or make your own and feel free to ask if you need to bounce ideas. I am not in DFW enough to really make a mark outside of Denton, unfortunately. Look at what SMU did for basketball. They bombarded the metroplex with publicity and the Moody became the hottest ticket in Dallas. Their football, however, is dying a slow, bleeding death and we should capitalize. We need more T-shirt fans.1 point

Tulsa is led by a bunch of underclassman. Lost top players last year Jordan Clarkson & Eric Mccellan to transfers. Suspended starter Pat Swilling Jr mid season. Amazing what good coaching can overcome, a second year one at that1 point

So, you felt the need to post in here to tell us you were not playing? Interesting. Could I entice you to make a bit of a donation to the cause BEFORE you head to Vegas? Harry has a PayPal site here on GMG.Com that you could use if you would like or you can PM me and I'll send my address and you could mail a contribution...any amount is greatly appreciated. Could use your support. Thanks. Enjoy Vegas!1 point
