Get off Benfords balls for a second and actually realize that he is the root of the problem.4 points

If RV knows what's good for this program, he will get rid of Benford now! I consider myself a die-hard North Texas fan and used to follow every game, but I have only watched/followed 2 games this year (the only ones on TV here in Austin). If it weren't for those, I would have not seen any. I'm watching the UTEP game as I'm writing this and glad that I have been drinking all day or else I would be even more miserable. It's just sad to see us piss away all that we've built. Unfortunately, we are going to have to start all over because we let Benford have another year. I would like to apologize to the players on behalf of the North Texas Athletic Dept. They didn't deserve this, but our AD let this happen.3 points

Yeah, I was among the doubters, but one tendency that I think he has shown is to finish strong. I wish nothing but the best for the man; he's shown great character.3 points

Oh, I'm here. Fels like a UTEP home game. Why didn't you grab that pass? :-) I did here Benfird impart his coaching wisdom by yelling "box out" when UTEP was lining up for a free throw. Kinda like I do with the 3rd and 4th graders I coach....2 points

Ya, except Benford cane here promising to upgrade the schedule, play defense, rebound, and elevate the program. So you are saying he has gone equal, regress, regress, regress in those areas. Wonderful.2 points

LSU is currently .500 in the SEC. Many feel that they are a bubble team for the NCAA tournament. It appears that Jones has recruited a strong class for next year. Hopefully, he can and will appease the Tiger Nation. http://www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/p/47871411/Im-still-excited-about-LSU-basketball-and-Johnny-Jones.aspx2 points

We blew it in the 8th. Lost 5-2. McNeese is good with wins over A&M and Alabama. We are not a deep team but we should compete well in conference. Rick2 points

(Wide) Receivers Coach: Mike Grant Losses: Caldwell, Chancellor, Pleasant, D. Smith Returning: Chelf, Harris, Hubbard, Kidsy, Lancaster, M Marshall, Smiley, Teegarden, Terrell Gains: Adams, Barrow, F Davis, Goree, Rutherford With only one returning starter (Harris) and not a lot of experience returning you'd expect this to be a rather weak unit this coming year. And, early in the year, that could be right. I expect a starting lineup of Harris, Kidsy, and Terrell to open the season but I see Fonzale Davis and Goree as starters by mid-season. I also think that the other two freshmen, Adams and Rutherford get a decent amount of playing time. I think that's especially true of Rutherford as it appears that he'd make a great third down possession receiver with his 6'5" height. I really expect something from Smiley as well. He's supposed to have 4.4 speed and good hands. He had pretty impressive high school stats. There is enough talent in this receiving corps to have fresh legs on every play if they desired.1 point

I just found out that the UNT Cheer Squad will demo the routine it will take to the National Championships for the first time in public during half-time of the GMG.Com BB Classic on March 22nd! This should be really great to see for the first time in public and it's great that they want to demo the routine at the GMG.Com BB game! All the more reason to come out and watch the game and be part of the fun. Remember...no admission costs to come watch! The game will tip-off around 5PM on Saturday March 22nd in the UNT Volleyball Gym located on Bonnie Brae across from Apogee and the UNT Tennis complex! Hope to see lots of folks attending in support of the game and our great Cheer Squad student-athletes!1 point

I think Caldwell has another year as McCarney gave him a ship. Kind of a head scratcher because if he played it wasn't much. Other than Harris, it is a big guess to name the rotations. Freshmen will definitely play, but how many and which ones. Kidsy and Terrell looked good at times, but I am not sure ether starts. The constant injured Lancaster has size and supposedly speed. He will open with the experienced receivers, but I would not be surprised if a couple of the freshmen end up starting. The key though is that wrs must block to get much playing time on a McCarney time.1 point

. How could you ever dare compare Pearl Harbor in which 100's Americans soldiers died with this situation... no Americans are involved... but if we get involved .. they will ... and you apparently want that... disgusting. My wife lost her father as as result of WWII and I had a cousin (age 18) in Battle of the Bulge under Patton in a unit that less than 20% survived... You went way too far... War is no game. My two best HS buddies died as the result of Nam. Which military branch were you in... and in which war zone??? ..1 point

Those pics were great and brought back terrific memories. Let Benford continue grooming his team, recruit a stud that wants to play for him and continue trending upward. I mean many of the teams we lost to ugly are set up nicely to go dancing (thinking BYU). I just remember JJ having some mulligans just like benford. I sat through that massacre at UTA and that was under JJ's watch. JJ got us dancing but couldn't get us over that hump into the 32. I wish Benford luck and will celebrate and support that coach that finally gets us in and leads us to do some damage in the tourney. GMG1 point

We are heading into extras at the Lace. Score is 1-1, and @Ashlayyyk has thrown a two-hitter and given up one run. She's pitching in the 8th — Mean Green Softball (@MeanGreenSB) March 2, 2014 Rick1 point

Mean Green lost a close one to Wichita State 6-5 when WSU broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the bottom of the 6th. NT battled back and had the tying run at 3rd and go ahead at 1st, with Two outs and a shot to the fence but it was caught to end the game. Wichita St is now 3-0 against C-USA teams. Second game against McNeese just starting. Rick1 point

We played two.... the same amount as middle tennese Southern miss and many others. Ecu played 4 while we only played two division two teams.on top of that I believe JJs LSU team played more southland teams then we did. But people won't bother to look things up. Just blindly attack1 point

Benford is coming back next year, so I am unclear on why that's even a thing. The second CJ's buzzer beater went in a few games back, Tony was assured of another season. The only way he was getting canned is if we were riding a huge losing streak to end the campaign. We're still not assured of a non-losing year BTW. Talk about diminished expectations.1 point

Just go to the Wikipedia link already posted. It already has all of this plus the bracket and more. The point was the CUSA website does not have the info in a user friendly format.1 point

Losing by 5 points is a blow out? Wow I guess we are rising high because we have blown out our last four opponents essentially. You must be really happy with these last couple blowouts we have had go in our favor.1 point

You act as if any of the above is impossible for Benford to do. It took JJ years to accomplish any of these. We have been to 3 NCAA tournaments in the history of our school. Is it really expected for us to make it right now with Bneford? JJ had two in over ten years. We did have some fantastic seasons but that stuff took time. Not only to get in the players, but for JJ to be comfortable in his role. If we can win 17-18 games this season Benford define lay will have improved and deserves another year. If we lose our next three it is troublesome, but nothing so terrible that it would change next season. I'm leaning twordw giving able ford another year. The issue because what happens after next year when we have a bunch of young players who may not even be three star players. That is wher the road gets tough.1 point

People have the right to believe as they wish. No problems with that. However, when you violate someone's civil rights based on a religious belief, the line is crossed. More to the point, you should expect a higher level of "critique' for your opinions because you are in a large public forum and you get paid a lot to be in that forum.1 point

Nope. Not anymore conflicted than you are when you spout anti-union tea party-like rhetoric and then enjoy the benefits that a Fireman's union gets for you. Since you brought up loving families. When someone makes intolerant comments about loving couples, who happen to be of the same sex, who want to make a commitment to one another, THEN offhandedly comment that black people were better off before civil rights legislation was passed, they are pretty clearly bigots as far as I am concerned. And since you don't live with them day in and day out, you have no earthly idea if this is a loving family or not. For all I know all they have is good publicity. I put more credence in what they say to people that they don't pay than ones who's job it is to present them in the most ideal light. You know Warren Jeffs thought he had an ideal loving family. Adopting children of another ethnicity is not unusual for people who like to present themselves in the most grandiose way. Most of the time people who are in the public eye who do that have a "I'm going to rescue them from their negative backgrounds, and teach them how to be white like me, and then their life will be sooooo much better" attitude. Those children are often times little more than accessories for their public resumes. I've done this sort of thing much longer than you've been putting out fires. And I would never second guess you on putting out fires.1 point

What awful teams were blow outs...? SFA is awful? A 26 win awful team..l BYU and LA Tech are awful? Both 20 win teams. But they are awful...? Even our next closest loss I believe was Oklahoma who was a top 25 team. I am not debating that we were once a good team or what someone inherited. I am only saying our major losses were against very solid competition.1 point

He did not give his all a that is a know fact. I would not go so far as to say he was a known cancer. He just coasted in many games. He had to answer for that in interviews and when his draft stock dropped. In a year or two he will be playing decent minutes in the NBA, but UNT could have benefited from better play from him on the offensive end. I would happily take another TMICH.1 point

Sometimes I wonder if areas like DFW and Houston are just overrated and overhyped. Just as easy to find a player somewhere else out of the metroplex in Texas or a solid player from another state like josh white. I like how Benford has tried to grab guys from all around and not just focused in the DFW area. If there is another Tony Mitchell waiting by all means grab him, but there are some solid players all over the country.1 point
