BTW,... It's WAY early but going by her resume and results so far this year, Coach Tracey Kee may be one of RV's best hires to date. If your not familiar with her check out her resume. http://www.meangreensports.com/sports/w-softbl/mtt/tracey_kee_859592.html .."In 16 seasons as the East Carolina head coach, she compiled a 684-362 record, and guided the Pirates to four NCAA Tournament appearances including three in her last five years"... 40 wins or more in 12 of 16 seasons... 4 of those 12 she won 50 games... Considering the flat out deep talent she now has close proximity to recruit from, and if we get her everything she needs this woman might do great things for NT. Rick4 points

The Westie, I agree 100% I've been there about 6 times, which is why I prefer old ass Mesquite Memorial. We (Apogee) got much more for the money. Nice stadium but I think the national hype was based on the amount spent and not the final product.3 points

McCarney took the Dodge dumpster fire and rebuilt it in 3 years. Benford took JJ's well oiled machine and threw it into a dumpster and lit it on fire....that's about it.3 points

It's the dog days of off-season, and I don't think we've ever ranked favorites (and least favorites before). Any iconic posters that have made a special mark on our favorite message board? I don't feel qualified, due to a lack of overall posting and longevity on the board, but I'm interested to hear what some of our long time members and high-volume members have to say on the subject... For the purposes of the exercise, I excuse all of the moderators. Each and every one is a favorite. To clarify: by best poster, I mean the best content. ie. you really look forward to reading their material every time you see their handle and avatar. Or perhaps we can even discuss the Bottom 5? i always enjoy reading the musings of untjim1995 and MeanGreenTexan, among others. one last parting thought: I guess I'm kind of putting out an APB for FroggyStyle and coogerqueen - did they both get perma-banned? and what ever happened to that stormchaser guy?2 points

Running Backs Coach: Tommy Perry Losses: Byrd Returning: E Evans, Jimmerson, Lewis, Pegram, Rollins, Wilhite Gains: Ivery, Wilson This position doesn't seem controversial since Jimmerson was the second leading rusher last year with an average of 4.17 yards and would seem to be the heir apparent. Pegram could give him a challenge for the starting job but I believe that they'll be one-two in that order. Pegram's missing five games points up the need for more rotation. Rollins and Lewis each got 18 carries last year and should get a little heavier load this year. Rollins has a little more speed and Lewis better power. None of the top four running backs have breakaway speed although Jimmerson does have a long run and a long pass on the feature replays. That's why I wonder if both Ivery and Wilson might not get their feet wet next season. There are no senior running backs in 2014. I believe that the talent will continue to improve and there's little reason to redshirt running backs. Ivery could use another 20 pounds, however, so he could be withheld. Yet, I believe that he has the most exciting future of all of the running backs and I'd like to see him as early as possible.2 points

I have no idea how we got what we did for the money we spent on Apogee. That stadium feels like $100mil+.2 points

My HSO from a sports fan, allen resident (without kids in the district) and Apogee lover. Tthe bond that included the stadium also included other things like funding for the arts so I voted for it even though the part about the stadium seemed ridiculous to me. If it had just been for the stadium i would have never voted for it. After seeing it and being there for a game and knowing it cost 60m compared to Apogee's 80m, the allen stadium is much more of a huge waste of money. I'd say it's about 50% as good as Apogee.2 points

Paul won't be here forever. Also, competition makes the team and individual players better. If Paul sees this as anything other than a good thing for the team, I would be disappointed. Just more pressure on and motivation for him to work to get better. And that's a good thing.2 points

I agree with the new guy Though Jim-Jim and Pegram are about the same size, Reggie seems to fit the "pounder" role better, which makes me think he'd be numero uno, with Jimmy being the change-of-pace back/surprise "guess what, I can catch too" receiver just like last year. With our RB scheme it seems less like "this guy is #1 and this guy is #2" than it does "these are your different roles based on the play we decide to run." And I think that's right about Pegram being a senior...didn't he use up 2 years at Purdue and then last year with us, or did he somehow get an extra year? Looks like he had a few carries in 2010, a bunch in 2011, then sat out 2012 before playing with us in 2013. So did he get a redshirt in 2010? If so then yeah, he will have eligibility through the 2015 season. And yeah, I hope Rollins makes a full recovery, because both he and Lewis looked pretty good in their limited time last year.2 points

I predict a game thread next year where Andrew talks to Andrew throughout because everyone else has pretty much stopped caring. But, hey, Benford will still be coach...2 points

I think the main reason he is playing on the LOS in their 3-4 has more to do with Burleson needing him there. If he played on a loaded football team with an odd front, like Allen, then he'd probably be an even better fit at Rush/Jack/Leo outside linebacker in a 3-4. Burleson needs him inside the tackle. As for college, Mann looks like he'd best fit at end in a 4-3. I don't think he has the natural bulk/thickness (let's be mature guys, you can do it) to play inside. He could, but I think it'd be more forced than a natural transition. In the event that we were to land Mann, or ends like him, my hope is that we can also start landing guys with the size to play nose as well as guys like TJ Tauaalo, 275-295 with quickness, to play the 3-tech. Then, you only move the ends inside if the growth happens naturally, rather than forcing it. I talked about Dailon Holmes having the potential to play inside because I see the frame, bulk, and upper body that would translate inside. Not forced or out of necessity. I know you said you were kidding, MEANGREENCOACH2, but I was just giving my 2 cents on defensive position changes.2 points

Our four game winning streak is put to a huge test in this one. Not gonna lie, should we win, I will be most impressed.1 point

I'm kinda torn on him. I think he plays with a hand on the ground, whether outside or inside. I see what you mean about him being more slender, angular big-framed kid than the type who could relatively easily put 40-50 pounds on himself to move inside. But at the same time, quality interiors are really hard to find and though he may not fit the body type perfectly, if he can play there and play well at maybe 6-4, 275, I wouldn't have a problem with it.1 point

I don't play favorites. I let the poster's level of play determine their status. Otherwise, this board wouldn't have such a good walk-on program.1 point

In real life I really enjoy tailgating with UNT90, Harry ,AAU, Tony, SSP and the rest. They've made the game day experience a lot of fun for me the last few years and made me a lot more of a fanatical fan then I would have been.1 point

This means nothing IMO. UTEP is returning 16, USM is returning 15. FIU 18. Anyone scared to play these teams? utsa is returning 19, big whoop. Soza carried that team a lot further than ppl think. He scrambled for tons of hidden yards and extended a lot of plays. He will sorely be missed at utsa. Only teams that have a shot verse UNT in CUSA is Marshal (which we don't have scheduled) FAU, and Rice. Which all 3 are in the bottom half of returning starters. GMG1 point

I like the move as well. We're looking pretty good at LB, and Akunne is our only scholarship guy who will be a senior this year. In 2015, when Richmond becomes eligible, we will only return 4 other scholarship defensive ends, at most, from our 2014 team. Those guys will be Chad Polk, Malik Dilonga, Jarrian Roberts, and Tillman Johnson. Polk is the only one who we have seen play meaningful snaps up to this point, and he is undersized so it'd be nice to start developing the others to get a good rotation and not need Polk to play 70 snaps a game.1 point

At one point, Ukraine had 5000 nuclear warheads, third only to the US and Russian Federation. Now they are getting pushed around by a guy who wants to restart the CCCP. Lesson: Don't give up your guns ICBMs.1 point

Apogee did cost at least 30% more. Also, we used to not like comparing a D1 stadium to some high schools because we used to lose in that comparison.1 point

Ok...I am going to put on my Sherlock hat on and from what I gather from this thread. Taylor called it quits. Taylor is NOT a dude. Taylor plays for Coach Pete. She has a family that is a bunch of hookers. Taylor was preggers not too long ago. Benford is somehow, maybe involved in this. Benford arrived on the scene before Taylor was preggers. Benford has nets. He casts them widely. CONCLUSION- Benford is the baby daddy. Benford'd1 point

So much in this thread. And if anyone is winning here, it's Caribbean. Silver, Regardless of where you stand on any kind of hot-button topic, and despite your proclivity for saying things that get you in doo-doo, I HIGHLY doubt you would accuse this man to his face of adoption for appearance sake... Wow. in before the lock.1 point

Yeah, the whole "well it's in the bible so that makes it okay" is used by people who have never read the bible. Genicide is okay. It's in the bible. Bigotry and slavery is supported by the bible. It's my religion. It's okay to make horrendous statements about people. I have faith!!1 point

Nah, it is easier to sling insults at one who is committed to his religion, especially when it is Christianity. I think SE meant to call Jesus a bigot since Phil was basically stating what the Bible says.1 point

For a guy who toiled for 30 years for CPS trying to find shelter for homeless children it must be conflicting for you to refer to a loving, successful family who happened to adopt a bi-racial baby and a Tawainese teenager as bigots? Rick1 point
