  2. What I've always wondered is, unless you graduated from High Park HS, or some comparable upper income area HS, what could you possibly have in common with most of the general student population at $MU?

  3. I have $57,000 reasons why NT makes more sense for a transfer who is going to have to sit for a year before they can even hope to earn a scholarship. Tuition $38,870 Fees $4,930 Average Room and Board $13,955 ANNUAL TOTAL $57,755

  4. Here is someone who has looked at peer-reviewed research on global warming, Dr. James L. Powell (former member of the National Science Board appointed by Pres. Reagan and Pres. G.H.W. Bush) notes on his website that of 13,950 articles on “global warming” or “global climate change” in the peer-reviewed literature from 1991 through Nov. 12, 2012, he found only 24 that explicitly rejected the theory of man-made global warming. He provides details on his methodology, so anyone can repeat the work and review his findings. http://www.jamespowell.org/index.html

  5. I would much rather watch almost any game at home than go to it. I control the event at home. I can DVR it and I can watch it in two hours. I can press pause and go in the backyard and pitch batting practice to my kids. I don't have to spend an hour driving there and an hour back. UNT games are an exception because I went to school there and have so much nostalgia for Denton and have an ownership in the product more than any pro team I root for. But I see attendance at any live event going down, especially as the population ages.

  6. I think that's his point though Rick, Garth Paltridge doesn't have any peer reviewed papers. So anything he has out there, is not peer reviewed.

  8. I love reading UTSA and everyone else complaining about student attendance...we averaged 7,000 students at the games, culminating in 10K+ plus at Rice and UTEP. Sure, it's reliant on the weather, but for the past few years student attendance had outpaced most of our peers and even some P5 Texas schools. Students bring the atmosphere. I still see so many Apogee After Dark shirts and green on Fridays. They've developed pride among the recent classes. We've gotta keep it going. Got a good thing right now. I rarely see other school shirts anymore and people are way more enthusiastic than they used to be.

  10. "for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback." --Michelle Obama You don't think it might because Laura Bush was experienced enough not to fire off HSOs like this? The vitriol level at Bush and Obama has been pretty consistently high, just from different sources... AND NONE OF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE UKRAINE. There is a political cage fighting thread, go circle jerk in that one.

  11. Of course you "don't remember" because they were saying things you agreed with. Ain't memory convenient? The hate spewed toward Bush was just has bad as some of the hate spewed toward Pres. Obama. There was talk of impeachment constantly by the nutty far left. And yet another liberal position held by the self-proclaimed conservative 66. Lol.

  13. Actually it has nothing to do with name recognition or tv. For the college age group they are talking about it's phone usage. Too many people in one area overwhelm the cell/Wi-Fi network and then phones/tablets don't work. Asking some that age to go without social media for three is like asking them not to breathe for three hours.

  25. I was responding directly to a request to address the list of authors provided by UNT90. This isn't a list of scientific opinions, it is a list of peer-reviewed papers. If the science was strong against global warming, then where is the scientific data?

  28. I often wonder if we are finding our best athletes in some of these events? just now a Canadian team just medaled, are you kidding me? We have football players consistently jumping over 10 feet and as far as 11 1/2 feet in the standing broad jump, and as high as 46 inches in the vertical at the NFL combine. And who knows what the highest NBA player vertical jump is? But you can't convince me we don't have some people who can get us to being more competitive than we are in hockey. surely we can do much better that what we got now?

  30. All I'm going to say is, like him or not, Barrack Obama has turned this country inside out according to his and others' political agenda. If you criticize him, you're racist. People are criticizing him for what he is doing to our country and our constitution. And his two partners, Harry Reid and Eric Holder, are helping him accomplish his leftist agenda by cramming this shit in our faces, day after day.

  31. I guess the other option to not laying off a percentage of a company's workforce is to just let the company fail altogether resulting in 100% of the workers losing their jobs. I guess that's not running a company into the ground, is it?

  32. Bingo. Shareholders only care about the bottom line though. Sadly, somewhere along the way it became more important to pay your shareholders than your employees. And we wonder where alot of the "well, get off your lazy rear and go find another job" mindset comes from?

  33. So how much more science will we have in another 40 years? Will it make the disputed science of 2014 seem just as stupid as the science of 1970 in your eyes? Or have we magically stopped learning in 2014? Hahaha? And why has NOBODY addressed the the peer reviewed scientists that cast a doubt on man made global warming that I have posted in this thread? Again, your post is a prime example of how certain generations think they have all the answers to all the world's problems. Why? Because they need to have this belief to believe that nothing is out of their control. It is intellectually dishonest, and to be very blunt, intellectually stupid.

  39. You do realize that this entire post could be applied to the global warming alarmist of today, don't you? When will you address the peer review science that cast doubt on man made global warming? Ever? Just ignore it and it will go away? It's not the "right" kind of peer reviewed research? Or it just doesn't jive with a purely political view.

  41. . My problem with the ones that YELL conservative is that they are not really a financial conservative... (which I am... don't run up debt ) .... look at the National debt after 2001 when the GOP took over the White House and all of Congress... the debt doubled or ie. equaled all previous 210 years in just 8 years., Look at Gov.Perry administration... a $25 Billion problem that we never had before under any other Governor including Bush with a Democratic Legislature.. Who paid for that mess (when Perry was claiming we had the best economy in America ) ...people in education with 1000's jobs lost and students with more crowded classrooms... Those are conservative and the guys you want ???? Dan Patrick... Christian yes... but he want schools to push HIS views on Christianity... and each group is very different... Do you want Catholics, Mormons, Baptist, Jewish, 7th Day Adventist, Davidians, or the type that thinks the world started in 5000 BC in charge of schools...???? WHICH ONE ??? Our national forefathers stated they did not want a state religion after what they had seen in Europe ( Inquistion was the worst. 1000's killed for religious reasons ) and even early America (Witch trials, hangings etc.) ...... read the Constitution and what it really says... The Puritans were not even close to coming here for Freedom of Religion... they were very intolerant of others... They just want to do as they wanted and force others to believe the same ... Most areas... Virginia, S.C and N.C. N.Y. and Georgia were established for economic reasons... not religious ones. You probably think I am dishonest... ok ... read the US Treasury site below and you will learn the truth... it is not what Fox, or Rush, or Dan tells you.... note gov at end... It a government site and not a political one. Yes it is still increasing and the Senate ( with Cruz) will compromise on nothing to fix it. They want even more tax cuts.. crazy. Even on personal level it is tough to fix a debt problem once it is created. http://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/histdebt/histdebt_histo5.htm

  42. Hopefully, this means you are playing this year as it is a thread to help our coaches (UNT90 and Andrew) in the player draft. Can't figure out why anyone not playing would want to troll this thread, so...I can count you in, right? Would be great to have you with us for this one. What size t-shirt for you? Please folks...if you are not playing in the game, please refrain from trying to derail this thread. It is meant to help our coaches and players. There are plenty of other threads where you can post. Thanks for your understanding and help with this.
