  2. So... Who was the Safeties coach at USF between 2007-2010? That's probably who we're looking at.

  4. This is not the NFL where its easy to maintain stability in coaching staffs because everybody is on the same level. If your a lower level school like we are and you have GOOD years its going to be hard to keep your staff together. Better jobs will come along and there is nothing you can do about it. Sure you can raise the salary a little bit, but you wont be able to get it high enough to avoid losing coaches. Its a good sign that other programs want the coaches that we have. It will make it easier to replace those coaches that do leave as well. Other coaches will see UNT as a potential stepping stone to the next level and thats why your going to have a lot of people apply for coaching jobs at UNT. Its tough to be losing these good young coaches, but its not surprising. Its also not surprising to lose a coach to Duke. If Coach Joesph does well there it wont be his only stop along the way. He will eventually get other bigger offers. Whoever said we are a better place to be than Duke? Some people just don't understand. Love the passion even though your lack of knowledge is a bit disturbing.

  8. I wonder if many of you, run your home budget like you would like NT to do. Give Mac a new contract, raise assistant coaches salaries, get rid of the guarantee games, buy out contracts of non-performers and build new facilities. NT has put more money into athletics than they ever have, but money is still a big issue like is at most schools. Everyone of us would like to do everything to raise NT up in the athletic world, but we must face reality. Resources are finite and NT may be lucky to keep the current funding in light of what going on in the school's finances. Every school loses good assistants to better offers. The successful ones reload and go on.

  12. Ryan, stop knee-jerking. This is the same Duke that has seen the same rise in the same time that we have, finished second in the ACC this year to the national champion, and went toe-to-toe with A&M for what was probably the most entertaining bowl game this season. Don't try to act like we're above lowly Duke.

  13. Don't you know DD had these same discussion with RV that Coach Mac has had or is bound to have in the future with RV? Wonder if better facilities or better funding to hire assistance coaches would have made DD job any easier? Makes you appreciate DD Sunbelt Conference win streak, and 4 straight Sun Belt Title's all the more!!! Coach Mac said he was in no hurry to fill Walters vacancy. I should be no suprise Mac will take his time filling a assistance position that he has $63,000 bullett's in his gun or dollars to offer an assistant coach. Wonder how much high school assistant coach's make a year. Maybe Mac is trying to wait long enough to get RV to give him more assistant coaches salary dollars to work with. If UNT althletic budget is this tight no wonder RV doesn't have the guts to fire his "Man Crush Love Coach Benford" Begining to think UNT is UT's or A&M's UAB? What is the AD department doing with all the profit from HOD ticket sales and CUSA bowl money?

  18. Its a step up in pay and program. You go succeed at Duke or Indiana and your likely on your way up to a higher profile job. UNT is a stepping stone program for the young coaches. We can't get caught up trying to compete with the schools that have more resources than us. We will be chasing forever. Refusal to pay or refusal to chase a dream? You up his salary to $150,000 or $100,000, but at a school like Indiana or Duke he will still get more and he will have more opportunities later on. I agree we need to raise assistants salaries, but that wont stop bigger schools from coming to poach our guys. It wont and your delusional if you think that upping salaries will solve the problem.

  19. This. When greener grows up and has a family, he will realize that THE #1 priority is taking care of that family. Period. Especially over a school from which you did not graduate and a job you have been working at for 2 years. Wouldn't be surprised to see Joseph return here as DC once Skledany decides to hang up the whistle. We really need to decide if we want to play major college sports. Losing Joseph to a P5 private school with a huge budget is something that can't be avoided. Losing a coach to freaking Memphis in a lateral move is an embarrassment. Still trying to do it on the cheap at UNT.

  26. Come on, raise some salaries, thought this guy was next in line for DC after Skladany. Need to hurry up and announce the McCarney extension. At some point, we're gonna want some young blood on the team and not just Mac's buddies (which are fantastic coaches--just saying.) Gotta lock up Skladany and Chico...make sure they don't go anywhere first and foremost.

  28. Remember that as we continue to see a level of high profile incoming transfers that it is a sign that we are considered a legitimate destination that still provides a chance to pursue their dream of eventually playing in the NFL. The perception is slowly changing. Now we are considered a viable transfer spot for former high profile players. As they have success on the field it shows others that they too can have success here. That helps both with recruiting and national perception.

  32. Anyone else a fan? I'm DVR'ing the hell out of everything possible. I caught the Women's 4x5km cross country ski relay today. 4 legs of each skier completing 5 kilometers. It wasn't much of a race...until the last leg. Germany and Finland were competing for the gold with a 30 second lead over the rest of the field as the last leg started. Sweden used up the whole last leg to catch the two leaders, slowly cutting the lead down at each time check. Not only did she catch them at the last curve, she blew past them on the final stretch to win gold. That may be the most incredible single performance by a single athlete I've ever seen.

  34. Really happy I got to see this one in person. Really good effort on both ends of the court for the ladies tonight. The win is even more significant knowing all the injuries to key contributors. Congrats to Coach Pete and the UNT ladies tonight....UTEP was 9-2 in conference and 20-4 overall. Big win!

  40. First and foremost he was recruited and signed by Mike Canales. Our illustrious OC has seen plenty in his film studies from high school and beyond to warrant giving him a scholarship or he wouldn't have bothered. He broke his collarbone during the season at Navarro and only played in six games. Yet, in those six games he threw the ball 149 times with a 63% completion record and only ONE interception. Included in that was a post-recovery bowl game which he started and his team won. Lastly, he is the tallest at 6-5 and can see the field while in the pocket. He has the size, the arm strength and the accuracy to be a FBS quarterback.

  44. . That is how you judge people.???? You keep posting Christian comments which I don't object to except schools are not churches and which group do you want to run them ( that is the big problem ) .. ..... Nugent's history sure isn't about good family values or Christian principles. Be consistent. . .
