Those kids provided the loudest game experience of the season last night. Bring them back every game.3 points

At least we ended that nasty skid... One positive is that Gaines looks to be 100%. He was hustling up and down the floor and his foot did not seem to bother him at all. We will need everything he has come tourney time. I also agree that Alzee and CJ need to alternate play time. It's even hard having CJ, Jordan, And TJ out there. Our best line up tonight and in games past was Vaughn's, Walton, Aniefiok, Taylor, and Voss. Vaughns and Walton might be our two quickest guys and they did an excellent job of stretching the zone.3 points

Anyone else a fan? I'm DVR'ing the hell out of everything possible. I caught the Women's 4x5km cross country ski relay today. 4 legs of each skier completing 5 kilometers. It wasn't much of a race...until the last leg. Germany and Finland were competing for the gold with a 30 second lead over the rest of the field as the last leg started. Sweden used up the whole last leg to catch the two leaders, slowly cutting the lead down at each time check. Not only did she catch them at the last curve, she blew past them on the final stretch to win gold. That may be the most incredible single performance by a single athlete I've ever seen.2 points

Wonder if they are still glad they are in the Big -12 now .. they are 0-12 in conf. play in basketball, and were 2-7 in conf in football... If it better to be a big fish in a smaller pond or a minnow in large one.???? Careful what you ask for.... ! May be better for us. ... they likely get less media attention now.2 points

Congrats again to my Cuzzo @KOBI_48 on that AFL contract one step closer to the NFL god is good know he gonna ball out in Portland — YoungSergeIbaka (@Emmanuel_ElDios) February 16, 20142 points

The important fact is that Rice was a starter for SMU, not a benchwarmer thinking he had a better shot at playing time with UNT. Those guys usually don't work out.2 points

So Johnny has a picture of a pin with #sochijailbreak on it and asked if anyone could grab him one if they saw any. I haven't found one yet, but I did see these and hadn't seen anyone mention them on here so here are a couple of t-shirts: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Johnny-Quinn-Usa-Sochi-Bobsleigh-Winter-Olympic-T-Shirt-/111275234983?pt=US_Mens_Tshirts&var=&hash=item19e88556a7 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Johnny-Quinn-Usa-Sochi-Bobsleigh-Sochi-Olympic-T-Shirt-/121272880654?pt=US_Mens_Tshirts&var=&hash=item1c3c6d4e0e http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Sochi-Winter-Olympics-Busted-Door-Fail-Quinn-sochiproblems-White-T-Shirt-/221371771875?pt=US_Mens_Tshirts&var=&hash=item338ac92be3 http://www.ebay.com/itm/2014-Sochi-Winter-Olympics-Busted-Door-Fail-Quinn-sochiproblems-Black-T-Shirt-/321320387842?pt=US_Mens_Tshirts&var=&hash=item4ad0300502 And a couple of other pins, but not what he's looking for (the one he wants looks like one of the Disneyland pins, metallic and engraved): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sochi-2014-Russian-Olympics-43-John-Quinn-Pin-Back-Button-1-5-inch-USA-/161224268737?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2589b71bc1 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Sochi-2014-Russian-Olympics-44-John-Quinn-Pin-Back-Button-1-5-inch-USA-/161224271868?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2589b727fc2 points

Yeah, I've tried to do a bit of a push for him on a couple of different fronts and haven't gotten anywhere thus far...but that was before his viral fame exploded. Hopefully with everything that's happened it will be easier to get a bit of traction/momentum to get him a speaking gig or two. It's a bit selfish, I admit...because I know my sons need more role models than just me, and Johnny is one I hope they can learn from. I've been praying for him to succeed so that someone I (sort of) know and trust can be a viable example for them as they grow up. There aren't many people you hope to see your kids emulate, but he's definitely one of the few.2 points

My daughter plays middle school basketball and screamed at me for not taking her to the game tonight. She said, "We were 1-9! What's the problem with watching UNT?"2 points

The opposite of love is indifference, so I hope the fans do not grow a sense of apathy about the team. I don't know exactly what the problem is because of my ignorance of basketball. However, something has to change. We had a NBA draft player last year and did not produce. That affects player who might commit to us. They are looking at Larry Browns team and seeing a winning product. That's the only thing that concerns me as a fan.2 points

Like I said, fans like you are an asset to this team. However, we need fans like you to help keep the coaching staff accountable. You love this team and should expect a certain standard. Stay green my friend.2 points

I won't put you down like many on the board, but I hope you will uphold a standard of the basketball team that many of us do. It's not a sign of negativity, but accountability.2 points

I'm in the camp that thinks we should still show up for our student athletes. I know I can do better with this and will try to make another home game soon.2 points

I often wonder if many on here would have survived if they were born in the 16th century. I think many would have bled themselves to death at the suggestion of modern science.2 points

That's what I like about it. Was probably drawn in by JJ's early success before that shine wore off. I'm assuming he just eventually got fed up with the sertotypical SMU douchebag.1 point

So, it wasn't that the checks stopped and caused them to leave, it is that they violated school policy by stopping to accept them?1 point

I don't think anyone's bashing the fact that there were a lot of people at the game. It's more to do with the conversation this week on here about how attendance has dropped significantly under Benford, and how that would've been true again if you don't count the kids who came to the game on yellow dogs. I, personally, like the promotion. But I understand why it's a joke to some on here. Especially if the attendance from last night, coupled with the fact that we beat the last place team by 2 at home is used as justification for why this season wasn't that bad and things are turning around.1 point

Listening to Mike Emrick call the hockey games is greatness. He adds so much energy to the game with how he calls the games, IMO.1 point

Is this kid a possible starter next season or does he have to sit out a season?1 point

Wouldn't he have to sit in 2014 since he transferred from a FBS university? Then he would finish his final year of eligibility in 2015.1 point
-
We played in the Southland Conference (D1-AA) Every school in the conference was on the same level playing field. Don't think we had any transfers to speak of anyway. The top kids preferred to sit out at a D1 school rather than play D1-AA ball.1 point

Just finished watching the game. Two things. One, Marcus had a really solid game and was pretty close to getting the MVP award. Two, the players in these games usually trade helmet decals with everyone and put them on their helmets and a few leave theirs as is. Marcus was one of the few that left his as is. I'm not sure of his reasoning for this, but seeing how loyal and proud he's been to be at North Texas I think he wanted everyone to see where he was from and didn't want to taint his helmet with those other decals. He's been one of the great ambassadors of this school and I'm very proud that he ended up at UNT.1 point

If so this is a solid pick up. He started 6 games last season at SMU, and also played his true freshman year. He didn't reshirt there meaning he can redshirt this year and be a RS JR in 2015. Having a kid we recruited out of high school, who's also from the area, and has solid experience will help when we lose Lemon, Y'Barbo, & Johnson after this year. If this is indeed Sam Rice he will most definitely be vying for a starting spot in 2015.1 point

Simon .411 Dickey .396 Parker .348 Simon may have been the most gutsy game day coach I've ever seen. His teams were never boring to watch.1 point
